Yes yes, let them eat cake!

Not just a Rothschild...

...but a titled Rothschild! Irony ain't just dead - now they're f*cking its corpse.

War is peace. Hate is love.

A French aristocrat-millionaire who carries the name of the richest banking family in European history calls a black guy from the South Side of Chicago an "elitist". Does that word have any meaning whatsoever anymore? What about "rank hypocrisy"? Does that meaning anything?

First laugh of the day, thanks

Rothschild claims Obama's elitist.

Next up, Miley Cyrus says that Radiohead's music isn't edgy enough for her, too bubble gum.

Wednesday, September 17, 2008 09:38 AM

whatever

elitist, eh? hmmm, a hair's breath from uppity. i guess with senator obama not holding a broom or a door for miz de rothschild, perhaps he doesn't know his place?

"I feel like he is an elitist. I feel like he has not given me reason to trust him."

He hasn't come begging for my approval!

Don't diss Miley Cyrus

She's a lot smarter and more talented than this person (who's job is to do what exactly?).

Why was she on the platform committee, though?

I'm a rich person and don't want to pay more taxes. .

I take back what I said in a previous letter

Actually, it sort of makes sense... Replace "elitist" with "uppity Negro", and you'll see what she really means. After all, she's just peeved that Obama doesn't know his place, preferably as a busboy in a white jacket at her country club. Damn, the sheer arrogance of a black guy who dared run for president!

Really...

...it doesn't get any more hypocritical than for a Rothschild to call a self-made former law professor and community organizer an elitist. Obama got where he is through his intelligence, education and hard work. Did Ms. Rothschild ever have student loans to pay off? She could at least be honest and state that she's supporting McCain because she wants a lower capital gains tax rate, or something...

THis article on her commences thusly:

"A corporate lawyer and telecommunications entrepreneur, the sparkly blond ex-wife of former New York politician Andrew Stein had made more than $100 million from the sale of cleverly acquired wireless broadband licenses. She was also sexy, charming, and dazzlingly well connected. Two years later, after the smitten Sir Evelyn divorced his second wife, Victoria Schott, the mother of his three children, Forester became the third Lady Rothschild. After marrying in November 2000 at a London synagogue, they honeymooned at the White House, guests of Lynn's good friends Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Today the New Jersey-born Lady de Rothschild—the flashiest hostess in London—is mates with Tony and Cherie Blair, among other topflight Britons. She's also mistress of the former John Singer Sargent home in Chelsea and of Ascott House, the 3,200-acre Rothschild family estate in Buckinghamshire, and the chief executive of E.L. Rothschild, the holding company that she owns with her third husband to manage investments in the Economist and various enterprises in India. Those include FieldFresh, a startup that will grow and export Indian fruits and vegetables for markets in Europe and Asia, and a soon-to-be-announced retail venture aimed at the exploding Indian middle class."

For those who want to learn more about a true self-aggrandizing elitist:

A Rothschild finds somebody elitist?

Well bless your baron and long live the duke

This kind of cheap resentment doesn't even deserve a rebuke.

Terry Southern is Alive and Well

I hope there is a video of her saying this - it could be funny as hell. Especially in a cutting Manchester accent.

Contrary to what you may have heard, Terry Southern is alive and well.

@djmagaro

Thanks for the first laugh of the day! Mind if I borrow that line on other sites(full credit given of course)?

I have to say, upon first reading this my reaction was "Who?" Pretty much the same reaction I had to Palin.

This from an elitisit

Who cares. She just another wealthy woman, who spends her days on foundations boards giving out money. She probably did not get the " special attention" she thought she deserved. This is more about herself than either Obama or Hillary.

The irony of many of these Hillary supporters are 'pro-life (ANTI other women's decisions) yet Hillary supports abortion rights.

yawn...stretch...snore...

Glenn,

I appreciate you keeping us up-to-date on the snore-fest.

And this will doubtlessly continue until Congress grows a pair and starts showing these twits in the slam for a few hours/days.

Isn't this phony outrage thing in Congress getting a bit stale?

Wednesday, September 17, 2008 09:50 AM

ironic frosting on the ironic cake

Lady Lynn Forester de Rothschild has her spokesman tell the world that she will endorse John McCain for president.

Because -- at least in part -- she feels Obama is an elitist.

Sometimes Jon Stewart's job must be almost too easy. Where's the challenge in making shit like this seem funny?

Wednesday, September 17, 2008 09:52 AM

smarty

she doesnt want a top of the class harvard educated smarty running the country. she wants a 2nd rate sports caster and a bottom of the barrel navy guy running the country.

Lynn Forester de Rothschild hates America.

She wants to continue to drill. Keeping the oil economy and propping up the Iranian, Russian, Venezuelan, Saudis regimes.

Lynn Forester de Rothschild hates America

Wednesday, September 17, 2008 09:54 AM

it's not 'Rothschild', it's 'de Rothschild'

and you'd better address her as 'Lady'!

Next up, Lady de Rothschild in a campaign commercial denouncing elitists in her best Long Island Lockjaw..."dahhlings, I abhoorrrr elitists! They're simply dreadful!"

Wednesday, September 17, 2008 09:55 AM

You're killing yourselves

You need to erase for your mind that Elitist means Rich. It doesn't.

It's why Obama is having such a hard time shaking off the label, and why those defending Obama from the charge are doing such a poor job.

Saying Obama is from the South Side of Chicago doesn't refute the charge, it just shows you don't know what the charge is.

While I'll admit that in a political context the Elitist tag is hard to define, and thus hard to refute, it basically comes down to exhibiting a sense of "I'm better than you, and entitled to it" Not because of knowledge, or education, but that somehow it's innate. Now, I know most of you are screaming inside, "but I want my President to be better than I am." That doesn't matter, too many people they want the President to be like themselves, only more capable.

Obama does come across as elitist to many, despite not having a wealthy background. It's because at his heart, he's a teacher. Teacher personalities in politics often come across as elitist. Teacher are ABOVE their pupils, and this comes across in their deportment.

FDR and JFK came from very wealthy backgrounds, yet were not seen as elitist (though they might have been Elitist, they were seen as such) because they learned how to present themselves in a manner that dispelled such notions. Whether it be dress or mannerism, they were able to portray themselves as an everyday person, only more capable.

That's what Obama needs learn to do.
