The South will not rise again

Barack Obama's campaign had talked of making a play for a couple of Southern states, but that dream seems to be fading away.

    There are large swaths of Chicago's South Side,

    Obama's home town, who will not vote for him because of his race. The South Side of Chicago is as racially polarized as any of the Southern States.

    That said, I just donated $200 Obama. This is the first, and probably last, donation I will make to any candidate or political party ever. I prefer to make my donations to the ACLU as they are the one organization that has consistently and effectively fought the abuses of the Bush "Administration".
