Surprise: Bush doesn't really listen to the commanders

George W. Bush says that when it comes to Iraq, we should listen to the generals, not the politicians -- easy for him to say, considering he picks and chooses which generals to listen to.

Not news, Not information, Not pertinent

Really Alex, this is pathetic. What are you gonna reveal next?

The harder you try, the greater the fail.

You need to get yourself some rehab.

Hey, why am I trying to communicate with a puddle of drool?

If lying is a sin, and Bush is a believer...

Then he is going straight to hell, right? Couldn't happen to a more horrible human being.

In the end, this lie and the countless other lies before it will not dissuade that 30 percent of dead-end Bush supporters. They love this turd, despite it all. Bush could dismember a live baby at a campaign rally and they'd love him.

So, 30 percent of the country is stupid and/or crazy; that's a high percentage of poisoned nuts in the bowl (would you reach in and pop one in your mouth, given those odds?) And that, dear fellow liberal intellectuals, i.e., pathetically small portion of the electorate, is why our country is in the shit can.

I Know! I Know!

"When does AEI start trumping the Joint Chiefs of Staff on this stuff?" Schoomaker asked at the next chiefs' meeting.

General, I think it was 1200 hrs 20 JAN 01. Why'd it take you so long to wake up and smell the coffee?

Is it just me ...

... or is rupert_c's sneering contempt for anything that isn't Bush-bootlicking noticeable to others?

All of Woodward's books about W. Bush are very good

Maybe nobody reads them. I recommend them. I can't believe W. Bush did not get impeached after the book about the preparations for war.

@ Alkaline

Somebody needs to tell rupert_c to start floating his cornflakes in something besides Everclear...

Thanks Alex

Thanks for not writing yet another article about you-know-who... :)

re the Sixty Minutes piece last night

Did anyone else notice as I did, in the piece of audio tape from Woodward's interview with Bush, Bush spoke quickly, without stumbling or mispronouncing anything, and his Texas accent was almost entirely missing? I've never heard him speak except when he was giving a speech -- is it possible it's really all an act? Nothing would surprise me less, but how has he gotten away with it if it is??

@ Alkaline

Sneering contempt is the only arrow in rupert's quiver. Pay him no heed.

@Alkaline

I don't like Bush. I like stupidity even less. I like bad tabloid propaganda even less than that.

People who are comfortable with fascism and stupidity are not likely to appreciate my comments.

Stupid people are not likely to understand anything that I write.

Don't try to figure it out.

Enjoy the steaming plate of bullshit that passers for writing at Salon.

@rupert

It's hard to imagine where you come by this high opinion of yourself, given your nasty, profane scribblings here. One can only imagine that you received too many undeserved soccer trophies as a child.

Bush's "surge" strategy was intended to allow him to pretend he had not botched things in Iraq incredibly

Of course, Bush will claim to be listening to his commanders, even if he is not! Iraq was all about lying, from day one. Maybe not all about lying, but intentional deception (with help from AEI and other neocon strongholds) was a core portion of Bush's operation.
