And in due course

Dead.

Monday, September 8, 2008 11:48 AM

Um ...

No doubt if I wanted to, I could find someone who swears they're going to vote for Obama and Biden because McCain pretends to be a human, but is really a Martian.

The big difference is that I couldn't get a MediaCorp "journalist" to report it. (Oh, and Dems aren't encouraging any rumors about McCain being a Martian.)

Monday, September 8, 2008 11:48 AM

Just Die Already

And take your ignorances, preconceived notions and fake concern for humanity with you. The world will continue to flourish and produce greater mysteries that simply could never fit into that tiny, decomposing mind of hers.

Honestly. That sort of world view is shared by more people than we know and I doubt we'll be seeing it go "out of style" anytime soon.

Heres to the death of willful ignorance.

Monday, September 8, 2008 11:49 AM

Yet another example...

...of why progress is generally only made as previous generations die off. I mean, really, what difference does it make what his name is, substantively? This reminds me of my late grandfather, who, as a northeastern Democrat, had no problems with "the blacks" until his daughter (my mom) married one.

Monday, September 8, 2008 11:51 AM

No surprise there.

NE Philly is full of people like that. Nothing but Democrats though. Bigoted, ignorant Democrats, but Democrats nonetheless. I hope we can get out the word on exactly how scary-conservative "McCain and the lady" are, so that NE Phila and others like them will just freaking stay home and not vote. But if the Dems lose, that's who lost it for us.

Monday, September 8, 2008 11:51 AM

So what if she's an old bigot. Biden shouldn't be kissing her.

High status people touching/kissing lower status people is always condescending. Younger people do this sort of thing all the time with old people -- invading their space, patting them, kissing them, talking down to them.

It sucks to get old. It means that any random idiot thinks he can put his hands on you. We infantilize old people and it disgusts me.

Let this be a lesson to people. Before you reach out and touch folks, ASK FIRST.

Monday, September 8, 2008 11:52 AM

What is truly disgusting is

that racist cracker remnants of a sad time, won't die fast enough.

Monday, September 8, 2008 11:53 AM

Ye gods, people!

What the frack does her age have to do with it? You think there aren't any ignorant and/or misinformed people in their 20's who are nodding along with her?

Monday, September 8, 2008 11:54 AM

Wait one second...

we all know race was not a factor in Pennsylvania at all. Not one bit.

If this country elects McCain president, it deserves the shitstorm it will receive.

Monday, September 8, 2008 11:57 AM

@ AKA Smith

What exactly does this story have to do with touching someone? I mean it is there, but her reaction was to Obama's race/name/religion not Biden's kiss. Could you explain... you know what, nevermind.

Monday, September 8, 2008 11:57 AM

Okay but

Doesn't it send up a red flag that Bauer is seemingly more concerned with the candidate's name than her religion? Something tells me this is someone who was never going to vote for Obama anyway, no matter how much misinformation is out there.

Monday, September 8, 2008 11:59 AM

Two can play

I'd like someone to show her what it feels like when the schuh's on the other fuß:

With a name like 'Bauer', she's probably beholden to the Kaiser -- a spy for the Jerries, sent to sabotage the shipyards in Philadelphia.

She's a kraut infiltrator, she pretends to be an American, and she isn't, she's an Aryan.

Monday, September 8, 2008 11:59 AM

At dinner with my mother last weekend

and next to us was a table of 80-somethings discussion Obama, the subject: when Obama will be assasinated. Oh, it will be a shame and all they clucked, but inevitable.

It was only out of respect for my mother that I didn't walk over to the table and offer to wager each one of them that THEY would be dead before Obama. Greatest Generation My Ass!

Monday, September 8, 2008 12:00 PM

Hmmm Can you say Racist

So that woman is a racist, period, plain and simple. She says it is his name, it is his religion (he's pretending to be Christian), and then some other lame excuse, what she is avoiding saying is, she isn't voting for him because he is black.

Monday, September 8, 2008 12:01 PM

and a nation closes its eyes and ears...

Race is a factor, but no one seems to want to admit it. It's crazy. They spout 'sexism!' if someone asks why Alaska's proximity to Russia matters, but the all-white GOP convention gets away unquestioned after at least 4 of their speakers attack 'community organizers' in what I considered a blatantly racist 'storyline.'

Obama is very close to proving the American Dream real. He's very close to bringing this country up to the standards set by our Founding Fathers, and upheld by Lincoln. Maybe there are enough of us ready to go there. I'm hoping there are, but I don't believe it. But I've gotten cynical with age - my late teens/early twenties children have more faith. For their sake, I hope we're a better country than we seem right now.

Monday, September 8, 2008 12:03 PM

It is essential to infantalize

The infantile.

But I agree

Joe should have bitten her ear off.

Monday, September 8, 2008 12:04 PM

@bearpaw1

Oddly enough most white kids I know, can relate to black culture with less prejudice than when I was a kid. Granted a very limited view of what black culture is (or what is presented by media).

But it is a positive step, as opposed to this fossil, who is sure we are all being fooled.

Barack Hussein Obama President of the United States, leader of the Free World.

Get use to it crackers, it has a nice ring doesn't it.

Monday, September 8, 2008 12:04 PM

Ah, racism

That's the heart of the Republican party.

The Republican Platform could easily read:

Racism, Sexism, Fear, Hate and Religious Intolerance.

Enrich the rich and enslave the poor.

That's all you need is those 2 lines and you have everything it takes to make a Republican.

Monday, September 8, 2008 12:05 PM

What's in a Name?

Somebody tell this Bauer lady that an anagram of "Sarah Palin" is "Sharia Plan."

THAT'S RIGHT! Palin is the REAL Muslim Manchurian Candidate.

You want proof? Listen to her voice, and consider than another anagram is "I, Nasal Harp."

This evidence is irrefutable. IR-RE-FUT-ABLE!

I'm calling Hannity...someone's got to tell him, quick.

Monday, September 8, 2008 12:05 PM

bearpaw

I'm not calling you a cracker, poor sentence structure in my part.

The last line of the post might seem personal, it's not I meant that in general.

Monday, September 8, 2008 12:05 PM

On the elderly

And I know a 96 year old lady who won't vote for Palin because she sees her as a pandering, lying two-face.

So what? What does this prove? Some don't think at all. Some will vote for McCain. But the elderly who are paying attention and are actually still THINKING are voting for Obama. The elderly are just like the younger ones: The ones that pay attention GET IT. Those that buy into the rah-rah are obtuse like their grandchildren.

So what? Some people are just sheeple.
