He shoots, he scores

The father of Bristol Palin's baby is a superb hockey player, a self-professed redneck ... and a bit of a potty mouth.

The letters thread is now closed.

And this is relevant...

Why?

He sounds pretty much like any 17 year old jock, all testosterone and little common sense. So what?

Tuesday, September 2, 2008 07:31 AM

s*it man,

wah the F*uk man, babies? F*ck that s*it man. AK-47's the best, Alaska forever mother f*cker.

Bitch preggy? S*it...Hockey is my friggin life man. Vote for McCain man...He won't preach gun control or using a f*ckin condom man, dig?...

Tuesday, September 2, 2008 07:32 AM

Again, why is this relevant to anything?

There is plenty to criticize about Palin and McCain's judgment and abilities. Why are you focusing on the immature writings of a 19-year old?

Tuesday, September 2, 2008 07:32 AM

So what?

Because these folks (Palin and McCain) are pushing abstinence-only sex ed for guys like this. Guess what? It doesn't work!!!!

Darwin didn't account for this.

Tuesday, September 2, 2008 07:33 AM

Sounds like a typical highschool kid

I see no reason to pass judgement on this poor kid.

He and his girlfriend are kind of in a tough boat because of his future mother in law's ambition.

It would have been nice if they could have worked this stuff out in private, but like Trig, they are a political prop for Palin. Showing how wonderful teen pregnancy and motherhood can be and how awful abortion is.

This should be a private family matter, it's a shame that Ms. Palin can't see that.

Tuesday, September 2, 2008 07:33 AM

Exactly

There is next to nothing relevant about detailing the sordid details of this tale. Leave that to People Magazine. What's relevant here has nothing to do with the decisions of a 17 year-old, but rather the decisions of a 72 year-old.

It has everything to do with who Gov. Palin is, what she stands for, and how she would serve this country and absolutely nothing to do with the choices Bristol Palin has made in her personal life.

Tuesday, September 2, 2008 07:34 AM

and this is relevant...

... because inquiring minds want to know!

Tuesday, September 2, 2008 07:37 AM

Sounds like he'll make a great dad

Look, to all you who say this shouldn't be discussed -- it's the evangelical wing of the Republican Party that pushed McCain into picking Palin instead of Ridge or Lieberman because they're pro-choice. The same wingnuts who push publicly funded religious indoctrination that they call abstinence-only education. Looks like their abstinence only-approach doesn't work out so well. So now baby daddy, who doesn't want kids, has to get married because Miss Congeniality is running for VP. Better put down the stick and go to work at the cannery or pipeline.

The best theory I've seen, in the comments section at Fark, is that McCain picked Palin to appease the GOP just until the week is done. Then, safely out of town, Pailn can resign because her family needs her, and he can pick his Good Friend Joe.

Tuesday, September 2, 2008 07:43 AM

It's relevant because..

It's relevant because social conservatives make it relevant. Everyone else is judged and if found lacking they're called on it but when it's someone from the right they're supposed to be off limits.

I say bullshit.

The goalposts are fixed and the Palin family misses the mark.

Tuesday, September 2, 2008 07:50 AM

America's family

Someone on Pollster.com talking about the demographics of this pick, said, "well it certainly targeted the trailer trash vote." Confirmed by the New York Post What were the McCain folks thinking, or were they thinking

Tuesday, September 2, 2008 07:50 AM

What I said elsewhere in the joint, er, saloon, er, salon

What is REALLY funny is if the guy is good enough to play in the NHL and, since Bristol's mother is a fundie, he gets drafted by the NJ Devils.lol

BTW-It's almost time to drop the puck.

YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!1

Go Blackhawks.

Tuesday, September 2, 2008 07:51 AM

Damnit, no edit function here

Since she's pregnant, you should have used this banner:

HE SCORES

HE SHOOTS

Tuesday, September 2, 2008 07:54 AM

The Wasilla Hillbillies

So, America really wants a gaggle of trailer park trash as "Second Family"????

Tuesday, September 2, 2008 08:03 AM

Trailer park trash

There must be enough votes in the trailer park trash class if McInsane chose one of them as his running mate.

Tuesday, September 2, 2008 08:04 AM

It's time for salon to back off

We get it, she has an irresponsible teenage daughter. So do a lot of people.

More and more it's looking like today or tomorrow will be Sarah Palin's last day as a Vice Presidential candidate. No matter how you feel about her political views, no doubt her withdrawl will be devastating on her and her family. I wouldn't wish that kind of public pain and humiliation on anyone.

So lets knock it off. We've won, by like 20 points.

Tuesday, September 2, 2008 08:06 AM

so perfect, there are no words...

This is just so perfect on so many levels. One hardly knows where to begin.

Two things come to mind though:

1) that my-space page is probably already gone.

2) this is all anyone will be talking about this week. McCain just fried up his own convention.

there will be lots of high-minded blather about how "we should be talking about the ISSUES..." but the noise will all be about Bristol and her neanderthal boyfriend.

I feel for the girl. Not for anyone else though. McCain, Palin, McCain's team..they deserve every last ounce of this shit. They made this bed. They get to lie in it.

It really is amazing to me that McCain and his team are so out of touch with reality that they couldn't see this coming the moment Palin told them her daughter was pregnant. And McCain picked her anyway. All to stick it to Obama for that great speech.

McCain = loser-boy

Tuesday, September 2, 2008 08:07 AM

Just when we think that the GOP

has hit rock bottom by electing and re-electing an illiterate cokehead, this comes along. Is anybody ready for the triumph of White Trash Barbie and Skinhead Ken?

This entire family crawled out from under a rock. Even Alabama wouldn't elect this woman. Only in the Great White Trash North could this crew be seen as leadership material.

Tuesday, September 2, 2008 08:09 AM

-- marko1965 you beat me to the punch

Social conservatives are very quick and very relentless to pass judgement and and directives on how everyone else should live their lives. Palin was an elected official who ran on a very socially conservative platform that sought to legislate her socially conservative beliefs. she put her own personal life and her family situation up for public scrutiny and discussion when she sought to push her views onto the lives of everyone else.

Tuesday, September 2, 2008 08:12 AM

@ceytron

No, I don't think it's time to back off at all.

The Christianist right has been ruining people's lives, trashing people's reputations, and digging into everyone's dirty laundry for some time now. Now that one of theirs is getting the same treatment, it's time to back off?

I think it's time to slap them down -- hard. We don't just need to win in November. We need a landslide. We need 60 votes in the Senate before we can even start to undo the damage those un-American, un-Christian zealots have done to our country.
