McCain was rushed, got sloppy

How this sordid tale epitomizes the worst elements of the entire Republican governing project.

So If The NY Times says It, It Must Be True, Right?

Just like the NY Times story about McCain and some lobbyist having an affair a while ago was true, right?

I've seen numerous stories in Time, Yahoo, etc. saying that Palin's daughter's pregnancy was well known, and discussed pretty openly locally in Alaska. So the NY Times assertion that McCain somehow didn't know about it, didn't vett Palin properly, and that this shows how incompetent he is really, really stretches the credibility of the NYT for a lot of folks, including me.

The liberal establishment and MSM doesn't seem to understand that this issue is NOT a big deal with most of middle class America, even with "family values" types. It's happening everywhere, and just isn't a big deal anymore. So most likely McCain wasn't pleased, but he wasn't particularly concerned about it hurting them much. I'm sure every potential VP candidate had some problems; this and a few others were hers.

And I'll stress to anyone who cares that liberals trying to tear down Palin the way they are is really, really hurting their cause with many independent voters. In fact, I can't believe the way Salon, and so many liberal bloggers, are covering the Palin pick. I find it sickening.

I (and so many others) liked Obama because he promised change. Not politics as usual, and not sexist, personal attacks and character assasination by innuendo. Keep it up, and you are going to cost him the swing voters he needs to win the election.
