Lieberman camp pushing back on Novak report

Sources close to Joe Lieberman are reportedly issuing strenuous denials of a story that he has told John McCain not to choose him as his running mate.

The letters thread is now closed.

Ah, thank you

It's so embarassing to only see one of two potential meanings, especially when the one you missed makes more sense than the one you caught. Thank you for the gentle correction.

There isn't going to be a McCain/Lieberman ticket.

Ever. Here's why:

McCain has stated his intention to serve one term. Therefore, the Republicans are looking at his running mate to head the ticket four years from now. They're not going to all the trouble and expense just to cue up an Independent (or Democrat, no matter how blue the dog may be) for the 2012 election. They're not going to support someone they're going to have to run against in 2012.

Don't get me wrong -- I'd love to see it happen. Nothing unites the Democrats more than hatred of Lieberman. But, it's just not going to happen.

But didn't the Novak article state that the source was worried about a Lieberman choice putting Minnesota in "disarray"? Would there be a source with an agenda other than Tim Pawlenty who cares that much about Republicans in Minnesota?

The article stated that

...the Republicans would leave Minnesota in a state of disarray with a McCain-Lieberman ticket...

I think it meant that the Republicans would be in disarray when they leave Minnesota (after their convention.) I don't think anyone (not even Pawlenty) is particularly worried about how it affects the Minnesota branch of the party.

Osama Bin Laden?

Seven years and OBL and his stone-age thugs are still nowhere to be found. Fer Chrissakes, you spend a trillion bucks and can't catch these idiots who don't even watch movies because of some paleolithic fear of God.

Way-to-go Judge Roy Bean Bush. let's keep talking about OBL. Is Grampy McCain going to Kabul to drag OBL back?

Who would believe it anyway?

Joe Lieberman never thinks of anyone but Joe Lieberman.

"If chosen, I shall not run."

"Well, isn't someone going to choose me? I am waiting. I have run for VP once before so that means I have the experience. It's not like I can go back to the Democratic Party"

Lieberman has a "camp"?

So this is serious then and not just a fantasy of mine that it would be Obama-Biden against McCain-Lieberman?

By the way, that would make 4 senators on the two tickets. Supposedly senators have a devilish time getting elected (last one being Kennedy, I believe). Perhaps the whole election would implode under the weight of all that senatorialness and we could get back to work.

What I find most shocking...

...is that Lieberman has a camp.

Correct me if I'm wrong...
