Sorensen, former JFK speechwriter, speaks

For the second day in a row, there was a passing of the torch from the Kennedys to Barack Obama, as Sorensen directly tied the presumptive nominee to his former boss.

The letters thread is now closed.

OH PLEASE! JUST FREAKIN STOP WITH THE JFK STUFF

I really cannot stand anymore of this "glamour by association" crap that's going on with this man, his high-priced spread consultants, and the rest of the Obama-Rama Carnival Show!

This guy doesn't have 1/2 the political acumen of JFK, his knowledge, his military service, or anything else. I'm sick of this wrong-headed comparison.

And who the hell remembers JFK? Certainly not the current group of delegates that have embraced Obama! Those that remember Kennedy are not trending for Obama.

Sorenson and Kennedy, including baby Caroline who is now 50 and still expects to be treated like she's riding her pony, and the rest of the "spinners" can stop ripping off our memories with a guy who hasn't done a damn thing to deserve it!

1...2...3.. EVERYBODY PUKE NOW.

Michelle is no Jacqueline Kennedy - with or without Barbara Bush pearls. And Obama is no Jack Kennedy. I don't know what torch you thought you saw, but if the Kennedy's are running the Party again, then I want out.

Yes, it's back to the future - Bay of Pigs and all that.

Don't forget about Daddy Joe who'd have put the Borgias to shame. The Depression didn't affect Joseph Kennedy's fortune or his ambition. His money bought him the US ambassadorship to St. James' Court, London. He lasted for two years. Read the biographies and get a hold of yourself, Mr. Koppelman. We live in the real world and not in Camelot with this endless JFK prattle. That was then, this is now.

@mureenodonnell

Well, I doubt there were any Snakes for Patrick to expel from your homeland. Plus I heard he drank. And possibly kicked wolfhound puppies.

But why tear down a myth?

Beautifully, artfully and truthfully stated ...

... which is why all the GOP trolls have come out, whining about bringing up the past. They would hate to bring up their own past, what with the Bushes' complicity with the German Nazis, the Bushes' ferrying bin Ladens out of the country right after 9/11, the war based on a lie about WMDs, throwing away the Geneva accords, throwing our Constitutional rights out the door, McCain's poor standing at West Point (only five from the bottom of his class), his crashing of five planes, his father-in-law's federal indictment, his wife's involvement with prescription drugs, and so on. Oh, and neither McCain nor Bush can turn a phrase or give an inspiring speech.

Kennedy's presidency was the one instance I can remember in my past that a person gave hope and inspiration to the country. Obama is doing the same. He will not stand for the mendacity and mediocrity to which Sorensen aptly refers and which is the only thing we can expect from McCain. And he can speak in public without making the country cringe. Our allies are all hoping Obama wins because they too recognize his integrity and the fact that McCain is just a Bush dittohead. McCain, the former maverick, has sold out.
