Hammering homeboy

Talk about rapid response: The Democratic Party and candidate already have materials and video out pummeling homeboy.

The letters thread is now closed.

Careful!

That graphic might be offensive to gnomes. Don't take the gnome vote for granted!

This Campaign is Going On Way Too Long

That's the only reason I can think of that would explain how anyone can possibly think McCain would make a better President than Obama.

Need to hammer on McCain's "elitism"

On the CNN.com thread about this, some have asked why it's a big deal how many houses McCain owns. And it wouldn't be, except that he's the one going around calling Obama an elitist. That should be the story. McCain - the son and grandson of admirals, graduate of an elite private high school, legacy admission and graduate of the Naval Academy, who dumped his first wife to marry an heiress worth millions and now owns more houses than he can remember, is calling the scholarship student raised by a single mom who worked his way through college and law school and married the daughter of a municipal employee, who only just recently paid off his student loans (on the back of the book he wrote), and only owns the one house an elitist.

You know...

I was hoping that the narative was going to be McCain the lyer...but if this McCain the idiot Rich guy pans out I'll take it.

I just love that he said he'd have to get "his people" to look into how many homes he owns.

Oh man, I don't have you tube access at work, so maybe that's already in the ad, but I'd love to see something with a family who recently lost their home moving into one of John McCain's homes. He'll never know they say, he has so many how's he going to notice us moving into one of them?

Ahhh...that would be sweet.

John Stewart, make us proud!

Great Ad

It's simple. To the point. And even the "low information" voter can understand it. It's high time we start fighting back on this BS

Low Rent Option

Interesting to note that the lowest priced property (or 2nd lowest, hard to read the numbers) is located near Washington. Probably because he spends the least amount of time there...

Gnome...

I love the use of the Travelocity-style gnome (right web travel company, right??).

I can hear his English accent now, "Oh dear, our Mr. McCain has seven houses."

Silly season

I guess the Obama campaign has decided it's time for them to get into silly season. I don't like it, but I can't blame them. The American people have made it abundantly clear that they are more likely to respond to stupid, visceral arguments than intelligent, complex ones.

woohoo!

clapclapclap

Hackeysack

Finally, Dems show some sack and kick these Republican wanker hypocrites in the holies. Keep it up, Donkeys.

If he can't remember how many houses he has, Grampa McCain is either:

a) Incapable of counting to double digits

b) Forgetful and senile

c) Rich and out of touch

None of these choices are particularly comforting.

Oh please pick Romney as your VP, Grampa Mac.

"Oh give me a home where the buffalo roam, and the deer and the antelope play,

where seldom is heard a discouraging word and the skies are not cloudy all day". That's the world of the early US and the novels of Zane Grey. That's the world with unlimited possibilities that tempted thousands, even millions, from the four corners of the earth to hope for a better life in America. If you ended up with seven houses that was no harm at all unless you got them illegally so all this pontificating seems very unAmerican. Thomas Schaller couldn't pummel a pumpkin, from my observations, so what's all this "homeboy" stuff about? Yeah, I do know and it sounds ever so slightly racist.

As John Kerry is famous for saying - "Bring it on!" - but that was only all posturing. The only candidate for the Democratic Party in recent years who had any real fighting spirit was Hillary Clinton but "you done her wrong". Obama never had to fight for anything. He got into the Illinois Senate unopposed.

Do your homework and read about Alice Palmer (D), George Ryan (R) and don't forget Blair Hull while you're at it. Just to convince you that I'm a "citizen of the world", I'll also mention the Daley Bunch, Richard and heir with the lovely soubriquet of Shortshanks. Yes, that's what the world's been waiting for: Chicago politics in the White House.

Thursday, August 21, 2008 12:45 PM

Awesome

I'm so happy that we're actually fighting for the White House this time instead of "taking the high road" and hoping the attacks won't stick.

It's about fuckin' time.

Thursday, August 21, 2008 12:49 PM

maureenodonnell

So, how exactly is one of the Keating Five better in the White House than someone who happens to be from a city that once had corrupt politics? That's like saying you'd rather have Jeffrey Dahlmer as your neighbor rather than Jerry Seinfeld 'cause Seinfeld is from NYC and Boss Tweed once ran the place.

Crystal City condo

His campaign HQ is in crystal city as well. It's like a half skip to DC. You can get there in 15-20 minutes easy from Crystal City.

Off shore drill at Mccains houses

I wonder how much McCain would support off shore drilling along the coast in CA where he has houses. The so-called maverick is just another no-tax republican who wants to cuts taxes for the very rich.

Thursday, August 21, 2008 12:52 PM

I have no idea why...

...anyone thinks this is an effective ad. It's like living in an liberal echo chamber that's a mirror image of what the Republican echo chamber was a few years back. Anyway, keep cheering. I'm not sure what you're cheering for with this ad, but as long as it makes you happy...

Thursday, August 21, 2008 12:53 PM

About time...

...they call the Repubs on their bull! They call Obama a country club elitist -- while probably the only way a country club was letting him in was as a busboy due to the color of his skin. Meanwhile McCain has no idea how many homes he owns, and can't even cover by saying they are investments or something.

Obama better start slinging some dirt or he will be traveling that high road that leads directly away from 16oo Pennsylavnia Ave. And send Hillary out there to campaign for him. She's not afraid to mix it up.

Thursday, August 21, 2008 12:54 PM

As far as attacking him on this...

it's EXACTLY what they need to do. No more Mr. Nice guy. McCain has skated by too long on crap exactly like this.
