Quote of the day

This time, harsh criticism of Karl Rove's latest column is coming from the right.

The letters thread is now closed.

Diary of the American smear

No, Lucifer's the one who wrote the column. And worse yet, the WSJ printed it. I needed the Journal for years, but I could not stand its politics any longer, and dropped my subscription permanently more than a year ago. Those fellers make me puke.

Ignorance is Bliss

The McCain persona has been concocted and kept safe by McCain and to some extent the media. It's amazing how many people when asked don't know he was married before; that Cindy was his mistress; that he was involved in the Keating scandal; that he voted against MLK day; that he's not pro choice etc. People think he's a maverick politician and although he has reached across the aisle on some issues for the most part he has towed the party line and perpetuated the myth that Republicans are better with money, against more government, even though Bush has blown both those theories wide open.

As someone who used to like McCain I find it hard to accept him as the Bush clone he has become and to that extent alot of people prefer to remain ignorant of that fact. It is interesting that with all the criticism of Obama being too new or not having paid his dues, McCain still can't articulate what qualifies him to be President -- and if were to have to concoct a resume would be curious to see what he'd put on there . .

Could it be...

Could it be, one Stepford robotic Republican doing a bit of a downer on another. St. Reagan, the sleepy, would not like that, he would remind them of his 11th commandment, no Rethug shall criticize another.

St. Russert, another patron saint of the republican party would just grin and say, gotcha'.

Or, could it be that Rove is trying to portray Obama as all mouthy biography and thus shallow.

In a nation where most people prefer truth could it be that our boy Rove-er, the Rethug dog, is still doing more spin, as in 'culture of death', and the' gwot', and 'islamofascism' and, and, and ad nauseam, ad infinitum. Oh well, there are 59million Americans who believe and dutifully follow their shepherd dog, Rove-er . If Reagan is their saint and Boosh is their messiah then what is Rove-er. I'll leave that to the fertile imagination of my fellow posters on this forum. But suffice it to say that the crap coming from turdblossom matches all the rest of the stinking stinkers in the Rethug party who leave such a scent for the 59million to closely follow.

Hopefully, the scatological emanations coming from Rove and his Republican party is a precursor of their putrefaction and bespeaking their imminent demise in November.

@Dave Satan

>Didn't McCain father a black bastard child according to you?

Now *that's* something I'd like to see brought up by some reporter-playing-Columbo.

Yeah but Karl

Didn't McCain father a black bastard child according to you?

Washed Up

Our arrogant Mr. Rove has been in the cat-bird set too long to realze that he's all washed up. This wise-ass young college Republican "strategist" for the moron's tenure in the White House succeeded only in destroying the Party that he hoped would gain dominance through his sophomoric machinations. The glorious Republican Party structure this "architect" attempted to erect imploded before it got above ground.

Still, he is howling the same kind of bilge up the canyon on Fox News while three of his stooges are "helping" McCain to run his campaign into the ground with Rovian inanities and harebrained attacks on Obama. So now we see the McCain campaign running down the gutter into the sewer and flailing around for a strategy to save itself. Yessiree, that's the result of direction from the smarty-pants political "genius".

And recently Rove hallucinated in thinking that Obama might take his public advice seriously ? Now that's arrogance !

In the meantime, Rove has got the Congress riding his butt for the crimes he has committed and, if he has any sense, should now be careful to protect his own hide rather than continuing to offer such public tactical advice to anyone. But he's far too taken with himself and is courting an invitation to a small concrete room wearing a striped suit.

i don't get it

is Obama the world's most famous man, as the republicants claim he is? Or is he the mysterious 'Man No-One Knows', as they also claim he is? Is he the man who is nothing but biography, as The Homunculus says? Or is he the all-powerful one who can control gas-prices single-handedly, as the McSame camp would have us believe?

Oh that's right: Nothing republicants say is ever true, and even their own propaganda sources are finally rebelling.

...sweet...

Let's all hope he

becomes even more private and leaves Washington D.C. after a lopsided loss to Obama. Maybe he can hang out with Karl Rove and Rumsfeld just outside the Green Zone in Bagdad. I know of a nice secluded cafe where they serve the best coffee. No security worries about Bagdad right? I mean, according to McAce all is well now that we won the war by winning. What a cretin...

Thursday, August 7, 2008 09:44 AM

McCain's so private...

He doesn't even know the address to all ten of his houses.

Thursday, August 7, 2008 09:41 AM

@bearpaw1

Ohhh, now I get it. Thanks, your explanation hit the nail on the head. Now it all makes sense.

It's a shame how many people are going to fall for this nonsense, and more of a shame that they're so fucking stupid in the first place.

"[T]he campaign has too often acted as if the presidency is some reward the electorate bestows on its most worthy citizen."

Now, that is funny- perhaps unintentionally so, coming from the Weakly Standard (fare), but funny nonetheless.

Everyone knows we pick presidents by how they make off color jokes, mangle the English language, and how much we want to have a beer with them.

Santa, I want only this for Christmas:

Rove and me in a dark alley.

My fear is that is so doughy that it would be like fighting a golem.

Thursday, August 7, 2008 09:19 AM

Perhaps it's actually very clever.

I don't see how being a 'private person' helps McCain anyhow. Perhaps Rove, knowing that many Americans realize he's full of crap intentionally planted an article so it could be shredded by other far right personalities. If his message was the opposite of the one he was trying to get across this makes sense, it boosts the other personality's credibility because he's going against Rove when they're on the same side and it gets the message across to a wider audience because of the controversy.
