Screaming is the correct response.

Don't get burned out. Keep your sense of perspective. If true, this isn't just an outrage, this is something that might yet land Mr. Bush in jail for a long period. Forgery is a felony.

Say, isn't that illegal?

Oh wait ... Executive Privilege.

Lying is OK, as long as it advances the greater good of the Tribe. I just wish I was part of the Tribe that this Administration works to protect; alas, I'm just an ordinary American Citizen.

Is Judgment Day at Hand?

For some years, the debate has raged as to whether this Administration is evil or incompetent... perhaps now we will find that it is both?!? For all the shrouds of secrecy and lost paper trails surrounding the activities of this Administration, you would think that forging a document would be a no-brainer.

So Clinton blowjob = impeachment

but Bush lies, torture, and general incompetence = all in a day's work to protect 'mericans?

To quote Jacobin Mugatu, "I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!"

An Obama presidency and the sight of W eventually behind bars are two things that should help us all maintain some perspective.

No historical precedent

"[T]here's just no historical precedent with this administration for lying, misleading or manipulating intelligence."

I know this was meant sarcastically, but it's actually true. There is no evidence that this administration has lied, misled or manipulated intelligence. One day, maybe, you'll have the perspective to look back and realize that that was all just a massive fever dream of the left--one which you not only participated in but promoted.

It is never too late for justice...

I sat through all six hours of the recent house judiciary committee hearing on executive abuse of power and realized that there is soo much admited abuses, like ignoring FISA, that it has truly become a joke. Our government has been totally flushed and justice has become a laughing stock. If this doesn't get Conyers to press for impeachment hearings nothing will. Sadly I think they are just running out the clock.

-- andyonions - head in the sand

Point - the collective intelligence leading up to the war said Saddam may have WMDs, but the White House briefing the Bush sent to congress to get authorization changed may to does and so on - they replaced all qualitative statements with absolutes - thus they manipulated intelligence and lied to congress and the public to get support to go to war. I'm just barely scratching the surface here. There is tons, mountains of evidence of wrong doing - but no - don't bother to be informed. Just shake your head and repeat the Republican talking points - "There is no proof" - "Why would the Bush lie" - "it is all a liberal conspiracy". All I can say is - your children and grand children will curse you’re fucking name.

No worries

The Republican Party's keen sense of justice and upholding of the law will be honed razor-sharp when Obama beats McCain in the fall. Then you can count on them trying to make countless molehills into politically-motivated mountains. Their goal will be to prevent Obama from accomplishing anything in his first term, just as they went after Bill Clinton whole hog. The media will also find their missing teeth and stop being lapdogs, and will go after Obama vigorously.

Scream

"I am honestly not sure whether to scream or yawn anymore when informed of new evidence of how mendaciously the Bush administration behaved in the run-up to the Iraq war."

Tom Ritchford beat me to it, but the correct answer is to "scream". This might be the smoking gun that finally takes down these sons of bitches and preserves democracy for another generation.

That is, if only there were an opposition party in America today. As things now stand, I'm not sure it makes much difference which president starts the war with Iran.

U.S.A. R.I.P.

I'd love to be the next president!

I'd be able to run around the country and just kick old ladies in the stomach at will cause there's no crime too big to get away with as president! Steal some money from the wallets of Iraq vets at the VA while they're getting treatment...fuck it, I'm president!

All this is possible and more in the New World Order! They took the bar, dropped it to the ground and burned it. Then they buried the ashes.

America is fucking #1, dude!

A little OT, but fun in any event

Handy translation

"The allegation that the White House directed anyone to forge a document from [former Iraqi intelligence director Tahir Jalil] Habbush to Saddam is just absurd," said White House spokesman Tony Fratto.

Handy translation: "We're damn sure that we covered our tracks, and if we can convince enough people that this a conspiracy theory, we'll have even less to worry about."

(As an aside, it's interesting that the term "conspiracy theory" has become such an easy tool to dismiss something. Sure, some "conspiracy theories" aren't worth the effort needed to roll your eyes at them. But it seems like a given that there are conspiracies, even if they don't rise to the all-encompassing level of the Illuminati. So one would think that trying to detect such conspiracies via observation, theorizing, and research would be a good thing.

Indeed, that's what real investigative journalism is. Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein were essentially conspiracy theorists as they helped uncover the twisted back-story of a burglary.)

Scream

I swear to G*d I hope something comes of this but don't think Bush et. al. can sweep it under the rug. Suskind makes serious charges, not the garden variety willful ignorance/criminal negligence kind. Before he died, even William F. Buckley said that if evidence of willful deception were uncovered, that would be grounds for impeachment.

But I never cease to be shocked by our spine Dem congress so I don't expect much.
