Former McCain aide bashes campaign's strategy

John Weaver calls McCain's latest ad "childish" -- and his criticisms don't end there.

The letters thread is now closed.

Well DUH!

That is the way it is supposed to be.

Remember Hillary's awful ads?

This election is about as real as any WWE contest.

I had no idea...

John McCain actually has a campaign strategy?

Who knew?

Once a Shill, Ever a Shill

"For McCain to win in such troubled times, he needs to begin telling the American people how he intends to lead us. That McCain exists. He can inspire the country to greatness."

Ya gotta be fuckin kiddin me.

Fuggeddaboudit....

"For McCain to win in such troubled times, he needs to begin telling the American people how he intends to lead us. That McCain exists. He can inspire the country to greatness."

If he needs to be told this, then don't bother because he's already hopeless.

Please Please Please

Whomever is chosen to moderate the first debate. I beg of you to please as McCain these questions.

#1 What happened to your plan of running a clean campaign, do you believe your current TV ads are factual.

If he answers yes to either of these two questions, present facts (there are plenty) to the contrary and ask him again.

#2 Do you personally believe Senator Obama wants the United States to loose in Iraq? If no. Are you prepared to apologize to Senator Obama, not for implying this, but for presenting it as fact in your ads?

If he tries to revert back to Obama opposing the surge or not accepting it worked, reel him back, and tell him to please answer the question as asked.

Stand back and watch his head explode.

McCain Can't Even Lead his own Campaign

This ad proves so clearly that McCain not in control of his campaign. His message and frankly, his brand are being undermined by whatever paid leech is calling the shots. I was watching MSNBC earlier and GOP shill Andrea (?) Tantaro was apoplectic. She couldn't wrap her head around it.

I'm almost afraid to make the analogy, but it reminds me a little of the flailing, schizoid messages that Mark penn squeezed out for the Clinton campaign. I can only hope that this individual is here to stay for the McCain campaign. What a loser.

piano player in the whorehouse

"former" aide just means the jerk is off the payroll replaced by a bigger jerk. Lies, repeated lies, are all McLame has. He's a used up lobbyist's whore a decade past his expiration date. Watch Obama's lead grow in September and October. Beware the October surprise, however. These fascist bastards will do ANYTHING to retain power (and avoid investigation and incarceration), and they have Lie-Bold backup in Ohio and some other key states. Unlike Gore and Kerry, though, Obama will fight any tainted results and not concede a stolen election. Go, Barack. Go to hell, Johnny McBombBomb. Your "hero" story wore out twenty years ago, you Keating bitch.

McCain and Greatness ? Give Us A break !

Yep. McCain has gone off the edge, from mindless criticisms of Obama, to allegations, and now to baseless accusations. He's becoming as nutcake.

But despite his quitting in disgust, Weaver is also out to lunch somewhere.

The inmates are leaving the asylum but we suspect Karl Rove is now the new flapdoodle rumor queen on board.

The real McCain

I recall reading early in the primaries that McCain was very volatile, especially when under pressure. There were people on this site predicting that the pressure of a presidential campaign would bring out the worst in him, ultimately causing any campaign to self-destruct. While some might want to write off a lot of the recent negativity to whoever is in charge of the ads, McCain may know exactly what's going on or even be directing the tone of these ads himself. If the negative trend continues it won't be surprising to see a real meltdown before the election. A presidential campaign is said to be tremendously stressful for anyone, so what's it doing to this off-balance elder who ought to have already retired?

McCain has never been

the McCain that people thought he was - that popular image of McCain is an artifact of his media romance.

Sure, he has gone against the grain of the party orthodoxy on a few issues- like immigration, campaign finance, etc. but at the end of the day he was never a moderate and never a maverick.

Greatness??

According to whose standards??

If he's comparing his opponents to Britney Spears, he ain't showing much promise of greatness. And sorry, if this "Greatness" is measured in Neocon terms, I'm not interested. I've had enough Neocon B.S. and lies to last me the rest of my life. I'm going to vote for the articulate smart guy who wants to END a stupid war, not for the old fud who wants to not only keep the present war going for another century, but wants to start a new one, too.

Tomfollery?

From my readings, Karl Rove is now setting the tone of the McCain campaign.

Expect the McCain road to get much lower between now and November.

L'enfant terrible

McCain at age 72 is still an infantile, immature, petulant and utterly volatile jerk. His only talent seems to be the ability to cultivate an image of an independent operator and a maverick. Just like Bush was never a compassionate conservative, McCain has never been independent or a maverick, only a Machiavellian manipulator of an image which has nothing to do with reality, with the perpetual assistance of the corporate media.

A diminishing hero..

Even as an Obama supporter, I always had some admiration for Senator McCain. Besides his heroic military commitment, I was struck by how he stood up to the Republican crazies in 2000, even as he was smeared for having "..a Black baby". Now I'm waiting for McCain's next ad revealing that Obama's got two!

His campaign has turned an old adage on it's head: if you die by the sword, you'll then live by it.

McCain's latest ad

This one has everyone scratching their heads. Whoever allowed this one to get made should be forced to watch Gilligan's Island reruns for eternity. Why in the world would you put up an ad that features images of your opponent being cheered by adoring crowds for most of the ad, followed by a close-up of an elderly man with a wan smile? TV is about images. Words of course matter and you need a clearly articulated message, but the purpose of an ad is to reinforce the message with what you hope will be indelible images. If I were a Democratic operative, I would be buying ad time for this commercial!
