CAMPAIGN STAFF: "Do you have any skeletons in your closet?"
JINDAL: "Other than the ones that help set the atmosphere when I perform exorcisms, no."
C'mon, folks, this is obvious.
With all traditional indicators stacked against the Republicans (economy, war, McCain's limitations) the GOP's slim hope to retain the White House depends on racial bias in the voting population. There's nothing Jindal offers the ticket that would make up for the loss of the "the Republicans are white and the Democrat isn't" vote.
LOL! Good one...
It's pretty sad, then, to consider McCain's planned trip to New Orleans as a publicity stunt. He is desperately trying to make headlines while Obama is traveling abroad. First, leaking to Novak that a Veep decision is coming this week, then a scheduled trip to New Orleans...the press says, 'oooh I wonder if it's Bobby Jindal'.
Pawlenty or Romney then. sit back and wait. There's nothing to report on.
Are there lethal skeletons in Jindal's closet or is he merely getting ahead of the traffic jam as the first rat off a sinking ship?
haha
how true. can't alienate that base. Right now its probably makes up at least 12% of his 40% poll number. (the same 12% that still "think" Obama is a Muslim...) And maybe up to 10% of the remaining 28% Bushies.
It will be Pawlenty. I read somewhere today that he spoke in unusually glowing terms of Pawlenty. Besides He and Romney is an implosion waiting to happen
I saw it originally on CNN but now its everywhere. I think he'll choose Pawlenty. I hope he announces this week.

I have said this many times before. McCain would be smart to pick her. He himself is making great inroads among seemingly somewhat rational people. Picking Condi would be huge news. Seemingly somewhat rational folks will like Condi better than gleaming-hair Romney.
I hear he's still looking for a real job...oh, wait.
Jindal, a right lunatic for VP, will hand the Obama a victory.
Go for it McCain.

Well, no. At first some rational people were attracted to McCain on the grounds that he seemed moderate and more experienced than Obama. But then they got more than just controlled sound bites from McCain and now it's hard to find any rational thinker who imagines McCain is moderate or has the appropriate experience -- in fact more and more he seems like the second coming of Bush, not just on policies, but on his general lack of accomplishments or knowledge and understanding of the world.
As far as Condi goes -- well you could search back 218 years and not fine a less capable or accomplished Secretary of State. Her sole value to the Bush administration is her unswerving loyalty. No rational thinking person could remotely be interested in having her in a position of even more power.
Greetings
Yes this is a perfect metaphor for the McMaverick campaign:
Vice President Little Timmy Pawlenty, Governor of the state that dropped a Freeway Bridge into the Mississippi River.
Yep it's Iraq, Katrina, and every failed rightist policy of tax cuts for the rich and unbridled spending for guns and neo-con war put on a state level for all to see
Plus of course Pawlenty has that snarky unpleasant personality and manner that seems to so resonate with the rightists
Enjoy the journey

McCain is so far behind in the "charisma quotient" he needs somebody who can STIMULATE his moribund campaign. The lady Governor of Alaska sounds good or Carly Fiorina. Both those are photogenic energetic and just plain good on their feet. Romney, Pawlenty and any other common place white man would seal the crypt on McCains hopes. Go for the Gold!!
Jindal wouldn't even have a political career if not for Katrina wiping out the true-blue New Orleans political base -- his ascendancy is tied to GW Bush's politicized incompetence in the region. To portray him as the GOP Obama is a sick joke stacked atop a delusion, with a side order of conceit. But even he's not foolish enough to pin his hopes to McCain's falling star. McCain's year to win was 2000, before anybody knew any better. He lost his moment, and it's not coming back. Jindal might engage in voter suppression drives to try to win Louisiana for McCain, but that's about as close as he'll get to the man.
For just a second the end of Jindal's statement looked to me like it read he'd be helping John McCain get elected Governor of Louisiana.
Maybe Jindal's a profound right-winger, but at least he has the sense not to chain himself to the rusty anchor that is John McCain's campaign.
Gee, I really don't know of anyone on the national scene that's half white, half black, yet has opted to be a 'black' presidential candidate. That's a tough question........ Hey, how about Halley Berry?
...Regular sposta-be-smart Americans such as my own brother are just starting, or starting over, here in the general election. Watch out!
They are making a big point of "considering the options," "researching McCain's positions..." And they hate informed history from people such as we are. I am back to providing basic info on torture and such. And I have to bite my tongue, and stay preposterously calm, so that these intelligent people do not get cheesed off, and vote against Obama because they hate me for knowing stuff.
Can you imagine how hard it will be to convince the "regular folk?" Obama is in for a tough run. And the USA is in big trouble, either way, because even smart Americans seem to have a cartoon mentality.
1st saw its eventuality coming in 2000 -- & said so -- it being so blatantly obvious
... whilst in 2000 also insisting that McCain would be that year's nominee.
natually i underestimated how low karlrove would go in South Carolina to place our present day Moron-in-Chief on the throne.
While the Media continues to bandy about a half dozen Milquetoasts as VP heir apparents McCain will do the bold thing and select Rice --- regardless of the baggage that the Left will attempt to load her up with .... "HEY, PORTER !!!"
McCain will do so because his is a life-long student of history, especially military history; its in his family's blood. His mother's ancestor was George Washington's uncle; his grandfather was George Patton's 3rd cousin.
McCain was schooled on the writings of Von Clausewitz & Von Schlieffen ... of Themistocles and Hannibal ... of Smutz & Adolphus ... of Sun Tzu & Liu Ji. He read the Gallic War's while at Annapolis ...
He's chatted socially and professionally with the Patreus', Powells, & Schwarzkopfs of the World. He's spent decades now reviewing & pushing legislation relating to strategies regarding the Pentagon ... and meeting with every prominant world leader. And he's co-authored legislation with The Enemy (Kennedy, Lieberman, Feingold, et al) for a successful long term strategy.
He understand's Tactics, he understands Strategies, he understands ..... Surges; gut-instincts that caused him to risk the Noise from his own party to grab the Strategic Middle Ground of the Electorate ---- the ONLY part of the Electorate that has EVER WON ELECTIONS.
He will pick CONDI RICE for the simple reason that she will deflate the ONLY STRENGTHS the Democrats Mouthed this political year.
Said-Democrats have never really understood (save Bill Clinton) the American Electorate -- regularly & simplistically dismissing the opposition as either Hillbilly Buffoons or Corporate Fascists.
There is -- (again!!) -- much Glee on the rise about Barry's chance of victory. But come November voters will again pull leavers to decide who is the most compelling candidate to take the reins of the nation. It is an angry electorate out their this year Brothers & Sisters; Republican Bush's approval rating is at the Bottom of the Barrel ... while the Democratic Congress hoovers around a 9 percent approval.
Its been a sad thing indeed to watch as Goons like Bush Junior enter the White House. But the losses are the fault of none but those who chronically select the Empty Suits of the party, rather than say, the most competent & intelligent of Washingtonians, Ralph Nader to head the party.
When voters who care about such things as sex & race & compare Rice & Obama ... there will be little doubt as to who is better qualified to head the, say ..... Department of Commerce.
The people who operate the Democratic Party indeed seem to have a chronic Death Wish. Anyone care to make a wager as to the outcome of this year's election ??
