Rove/Atwater playbook

Old news. A tactic straight from the Rove/Atwater playbook.

There's only one way to deal with politicians: send them to prison, every chance you get.

Since our nation has reached a level of corruption where the rule of law is barely a memory, prison is no longer an option.

Game over... for America.

Here we go again

Classic right wing noise machine - repeat a lie often enough, get it "reported" and "discussed" and "analyzed" by the sheep in the traditional media, and it becomes part of the narrative.

To claim that the librul media are biased in favor of Obama is laughable, but here in our surreal Alice in Wonderland CampgainLand, up is down and down is up.

Shocked!

I am flabergasted that ANYONE in the media will admit the degree to which John McCain has, and continues to receive free passes for his frequent blunders and off-color comments.

Any other candidate, of either party, would have been out of contention for dogcatcher with the kind of comments that Senator McCain makes on a weekly basis.

The reporter who admitted this will, obviously, not be invited to any more McCain Family Barbecues!

Librul Bias

Liberal Bias is when MediaCorp doesn't pass on the right-wing lies fast enough.

"This is like Britney Spears complaining that the hype around Miley Cyrus far exceeds her talent."

Freaking hillarious.

Tuesday, July 22, 2008 12:06 PM

A more apt comparison

Would be to say these McCain complaints are like Madonna griping that sexy wonderchild Rihanna gets too much play in the media.

Free pass Like the other day

When he was on Today and spouted that "300 economists approved my plan" bullshit ..and there wasn't even a blink from the interviewer. I wanted to scream what enonomists? who? show me their names, signatures you lying sack of shit.

Thats more insightful than Jake intended

The choice of candidates in November is similar to choosing between Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus.

Drum role please...

Quote of the day?

I guess the implicit notion here is that this is a notable quotable because it's somehow true. It's not. A moderate media think tank recently noted that Obama was getting something close to 71 percent favorable coverage. He's been plastered on Newsweek crouched in a contemplative prayer position with a byline over his head consistent with the picture. Nobody in the liberal press has picked on him for having no legislation bearing his name, no hearings conducted by his subcommittee, and no accomplishments. He's gotten a free pass on his FISA switch, backtracking on abortion rights during interviews with Christian magazines, and his flip-flops on gay marriage.

Salon has taken great pains to play the moral equivalence game of showing how McCain and Obama are "flip-flopping" their way to the White House. McCain has "flip-flopped" on issues of policy, like off-shore drilling. Obama has flip-flopped on campaign finance, abortion, gay rights, and Iraq. How are these equivalent? Obama believes in changing his moral positions to suit the middle of the political spectrum now that he's sewn up the democratic battlefield. McCain is trying to placate conservatives while staying true to his beliefs. I don't see a moral equivalence here. I don't think any right minded person would, either. But the media does. And the only reason they do is because they are biased to see it that way.

I think American media, especially on the extremes of the left and right, has gotten way out of control. The kinds of controls that were in place during coverage of Watergate and the great scandals of the 60s and 70s are gone. The NY Times even refused to counterbalance Obama's op-ed with McCain's on the grounds that McCain wasn't saying anything new. Who are they to make that determination? Aren't they supposed to be unbiased communicators? If McCain wants to say the same old crap instead of hitting Obama on specific points, that's his loss. The fact that the NY Times refused McCain a spot on their op-ed page is frightening. It says to voters and readers like me that only one point of view counts and that all others that disagree with that point of view are to be hidden from public consumption.

I believe in an informed public debate. A case in point can be seen at a recent McCain town hall where a woman got up and started a liberal rant to the disdain of the audience. McCain told the crowd to settle down and to allow the woman to finish her rant. He answered her and then instructed his handlers to give her back the mic so she could respond. Back in the day, we'd call that dialogue. I don't see Obama doing anything even remotely similar. He goes to the middle east on a photo-op tour and gives pat answers to scripted questions.

Obama and the increasingly narcissistic Democratic party and their liberal media enablers scare the hell out of me. They should scare the hell out of you, too.

It is regurgitated right-wing talking points that scare thehell out of me. Why do you and so many people buy that shit?

Regarding the media- they certainly do cover the wrong things for the wrong reasons. They and we complain about a lack of substance but when someone comes along who does speak about issues they choose to ignore it and look at style anyway because they believe that is what people want. We could have what people want along with more of what they need to make informed decisions but that doesn't grab the same amount of market share. The media are not all to blame- we flock to the drama and gossip.

There may be a good reason for the alleged "bias".

It could well be because Obama has something to say and McAce doesn't. And when he does have something to say, well, the media are dumbfounded and are too bent over laughing to write. Or maybe they are bent over because of gas. Or maybe they are just throwing up. Or maybe they are just looking for the dotted line on the floor that will lead them to a real honest place that doesn't resemble their present condition as "journalists". Maybe it's all of the above.

As a student of politics over the past seven or eight years, I see the MSM as opportunistic and will eventually expose McAce for what he is: An old flip flopper who missed his opportunity when the ass holes who are sort of backing him now, shredded his life and political asperations with lies, fear, and distain, which, by the way, rhymes with McCain.

That he has chosen to have these same bastards run his campagin say volumes about his character. They are using him like a rented mule to haul their hate, fear, and distain for the American electorate once again. Only this time it ain't gonna work. What fun...
