No mistranslation in Maliki interview

Contrary to claims made by people trying to downplay the impact of the Iraqi prime minister's statement in support of Barack Obama's Iraq plan, it's now clear the translation was correct.

The letters thread is now closed.

Not so fast...

I'm sure he said something about wiping another country off the map and hiding the chemical weapons before the inspectors showed up. It couldn't be otherwise...

It's the only name

He can clearly pronounce.

No foolin!

See, I think it's funny, given how the Bush League have scrubbed their transcripts over GW Bush's reign of error the past years, that, of course they've try to throw up some chaff to try to deflect the actual positive results from Obama's talking with Maliki, for political ends. I can just imagine the Bushies trying to undermine Maliki in their remaining months, just out of spite. Find some political strongman to supplant him, in the interests of democracy, of course. *koff*

Not a translation issue...

The problem is that neocons are notoriously hard of listening.

And what does this tell us?

That another two-bit government of a banana republic, propped up by the U.S. is ungrateful. If the U.S. left today, the place would become an even larger cesspool of ignoramuses killing each other. Where exactly did this ignoramus get 18 months?

Iraq does not export bananas

It's insurgents do occasional export bombs and plant them under the swollen asses of assholes like tony the big fat stupid phoney.

Merry X-mas in hell motherfucker.

I can picture the spit flecks flying from your twisted mouth, Klytus

My suggestion for you is to run into the police station, naked, waving a deer gun over your head.

On the persistance of "mistranslations"

Gordo Brown, the erstwhile successor to the liar Blair, just addressed the Israeli Knesset.

He said, "And to those who believe that threatening statements fall upon indifferent ears, we say in one voice that it is totally abhorrent for the president of Iran to call for Israel to be wiped from the map of the world."

This despite the many many many "correct" translations of what Ahmadinejad really said. Bad translations, especially politically motivated deliberate ones, never die.

Nouri al-Maliki is the Iraqi Prime Minister. Are you saying that we know what's good for the Iraqis better than they do themselves? If you do think that, perhaps you should abandon the pretense that we are "liberating" Iraq and admit that we are there strictly to serve our own interests.

If you think a little more, you might even realize that McBush wants to keep us in Iraq forever, regardless of any "conditions on the ground". That's why he gets so bent out of shape when people ask him to make specific statements about his plans for Iraq.

Merry X-mas

There is one Iraqi export I forgot about which is all those American stiffs that get shipped back to the states.

"Mission accomplished."

And as ever have a merry X-mas in hell.
