A field guide for McCain campaign infighting

If John McCain's presidential campaign isn't already paralyzed by competing factions, Adam Nagourney's analysis of them could help spread the poison.

The letters thread is now closed.

saying of McCain: "[F]or his own sake, he needs to finally, firmly decide where he wants to take this campaign."

Hopefully he'll take it to, and back under, the rock McAce overturned to let Turd Blossom escape. That is until he's arrested for ignoring the subpoena from the House.

Not to worry you neo's with hate. Like Al Capone, he'll run McAce's campaign from a cell in W.D.C...

McCain proposes MASSIVE tax hike

When he presented the idea of counting employer-provided benefits as income, subject to income tax - that was HUGE news.

Why is the Obama campaign not killing him for stating that, if elected, he would increase the taxes of that majority of ordinary Americans?

McCain is a tax raiser!

McCain will raise your taxes and give tax breaks to the wealthy!

Can we put #'s against that? Is it the largest tax increase in history based on some kind of criteria? Does it affect more Americans than any other tax hike in history? Is it morally reprehensible as it taxes health care?

And he has clearly stated he'd do so. Where is the smackdown on this!?!?!?

Flip-flops encrusted with flip-flops

The excellent NYTimes article details exactly what is wrong inside the McCain campaign and ultimately inside of the McCain mind. The daily flip-flopping we have seen documented in recent weeks is not simply an artefact of the way a politician has to cater to different constituencies. The confusion, disorder, and factional back-biting reflect McCain's own lack of core convictions. Now we are realizing that calling his bus the 'Straight Talk Express' was a statement of hope and planned obfuscation rather than an accurate description.

It is time for more journalists to get off the bus.

Don't capitalize "Himself" with respect to Rove.

It's tacky.

WELL HERE'S YOUR TROUBLE...

It's not up the candidate to decide "where he finally, yadda, yadda, wants to take his campaign." The campaign goes where it needs to go, is organized based upon the variables of the race, and is staffed accordingly too.

A smart operative would have someone whom McCain trusts, sit him down and explain to him why things need to be changed, and ask McCain for permission to make those changes, including personnel changes.

The question always comes back to this: Are you in it to win it...or do you just luv running for office? Nothing slam-dunks morale like staff with titles only, having no real authority or experience to hold that title.

The McCain campaign was handed a gift with Obama. If they cannot figure out how to capitalize on it, then shame on them.

McCain would be better off cleaning house and bringing in rookies with no allegiance to anyone except him, and that includes former Rove associates, RNC cronies, etc.
