It sure is dark in that phone booth

Yeah, twig; we sure are safer thanks to your boondoggle in Iraq. Way to go, sweetheart. I bet you're still steamed at all them "hajis" because Saddam tried to kill your daddie. Gosh, we should have listened to you and elected you president in 1988.

Reverse the Premise

Keep in mind that the last thing Smirky/Darth want to do is remove their excuse for destroying the military through pointless wars in the Middle East.

Their plans haven't faltered at all; they're working perfectly.

Right on schedule for nuclear war with Iran in October, too.

Wow! Another blunder! Who'd would have thought that a reality?

The sure preponderance of failure both domestic and foreign by these neocon jerks is staggering. That there is one Democrat in either house that would distain impeaching these bozos is befuddling. It demonstrates just how deep the collusion between the upper class politicians is and how hard it will be to unseat the mentality they possess to continue the carnage. Just read Seymour Hirsh's latest article on the deviate baloney going on in Iran to see what our beloved Democratic Majority Leadership is doing to assuage Bushit's wet dreams. These are the same Dems who took Impeachment off the table so Bushit could continue to plow this once proud Republic under, taking it down the road to legalized torture, illegal spying on it's own citizens, flotillas for torturing renditioned aliens (this is the uS I'm talking about, not Sudan), total incompetence in Iraq, zillion dollar no-bid contracts to the VP's former company, subsidizing mercenary armies, huge fiscal deficits, $4 gasoline, and laughable border fences between us and Mexico. God, you name it. Thank you Nancy and Harry. Nauseating...

OBL

Re: "We have learned quite a bit actually. We've learned that not invading a third country, avoiding potential military pitfalls, and maintaining strict legal boundaries, are all more important than pursuing OBL and the Taliban. The left should be very happy today."

Can you name one Liberal who said he/she does not want Osama bin Laden captured? (I'm sure your researches at the White House, supplying posts for the blogs can find at least one, somewhere). Only Conservatives do not care if the perpetrator of the September 11, 2001 attacks goes free:

http://www.depresident.com/bushisms.asp

"I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority."

- George W. Bush, 3/13/2002

And, because George W. Bush does not care, every Conservative has to mimic that position as well, in order to not hold President Bush accountable for his failures.

re: Of course there's a simple solution

invade Pakistan, depose its government, disband its military and assume day-to-day operations of the country. Haven't we learned anything over the past 5 years?

Of course there's a simple solution -

invade Pakistan, depose its government, disband its military and assume day-to-day operations of the country. Haven't we learned anything over the past 5 years?

Obama and the hope for correcting tragic error of Iraq

On September12, 2001, all Americans were united. They people that hit us needed to be caught and captured-held responsible for what they did. In the mean time we needed to take steps to better secure ourselves. What we got was a neo-con wet dream of spreading democracy by force. In the name of keep us safe we got an administration that eviscerated the delicate balance between individual liberty and personal freedom. Worst of all we got the politicization of national security. Any dissenters were naive, self-hating American who would compromise the safety and well being of the nation to advance their political agenda. The end result? We are bogged down in Iraq- losing precious lives and billions of borrowed dollars. al-Qaida is on the rise.

I don't know that Obama can deliver the change he promises. I do know we need to go a new direction- We need to get out of Iraq and focus on al-Qaida. We need to take seriously difference in policy in order to determine the best course. We need to bring our allies on board and determine if there are any willing partners in peace. We need to get off of oil and onto self sustaining energy sources. Obama's approach is our best hope of correcting course before we fully squander our place of leadership in the global community.

Surrounded by advisors

This situation is a demonstration of why it's a bad idea to elect a President who knows so little and has so little interest in learning.

It's all fine and well to use knowledgeable experts but sometimes those experts disagree and a President has to know enough to make a decision; something also known as leadership.

the War President

He's a War Time President. That's what he does. He presidents during War Time. He can't president if there's no War Time. All great Deciders have War Time during President Time.

Alex you need to stop sourcing everything from the NYT

Or make up your minds whether they're evil or good. You can't have it both ways and it's not entirely kosher from a journalistic perspective to constantly go back to the same source over and over and over.

Afghanistan

Re: "So, the war in Iraq created an opportunity for al Qaeda to recruit more terrorists, and at the same time, made it harder to go after al Qaeda terrorists."

Add to that the war in Iraq diverted assets that cold have been used against al Qaeda and I'd say that George W. Bush has scored another "trifecta"!
