The new racist, anti-Obama fashion statement

One vendor in Texas makes no bones about pins promoting a racist attitude toward the presumptive Democratic nominee.

The letters thread is now closed.

So....

...is the song "Paint the White House Black" racist too?

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 11:13 AM

Unbelievable

Same cretins who wore the purple heart bandaids to mock Kerry's military service at the last convention, I expect. Makes one despair for the human race.

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 11:18 AM

As opposed to...

...The Cracker Box?

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 11:20 AM

I'm surprised it took them so long!

You would have thought that they could have come up with something more original. I guess whoever had custody of the collective brain at the TRC was on vacation. Oh well, at least they partially acknowledged that Obama could actually make it to the Whitehouse. Imagine that!

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 11:20 AM

If there is a Republican in the White House...

Can we still call this America?

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 11:21 AM

I grew up with relatives that were bedsheet-wearing Sub-Humans..

..But I'm amazed at the "wink-wink, nudge, nudge" stuff I'm hearing about Obama at work. Don't kid yourself, a lot of people HATE the guy because he's black.

Just is. Wishing isn't gonna make it go away, lotta fear out here in Bubbaland.

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 11:22 AM

WOW.Salon reporting an attack on the democratic candidate?

what's the world coming to. I thought you only contributed to attacking obama?

thanks anyway alex. I saw that on mr haircut's website. I wondered if this was ging to spread. I hope it does. this is the fascist racist mentalisty we are dealing with. The best way to beat it is to give it all the air play in the world. The same with fox and rush. The more people who know what these people are doing, the faster they get marginalized as the lunatics they are. thusly, rending THEMSELVES irrelevance. Cause and effect. Risk and reward.

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 11:24 AM

Cool!

Stuff like that exposes the ugly wink-wink, nudge-nudge, whisper-whisper racism of the Republican party and puts it out in the open for all to see.

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 11:24 AM

I saw blond girl in a Kid Rock video on CMT

And she was wearing a confederate flag bikini.

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 11:26 AM

These are the same people...

...who wore bandaids with purple hearts on them, insulting every soldier who ever proudly displayed his purple heart medal, simply to score points against Kerry. If you expect civility from Republicans, much less Texas Republicans, then you're delusional.

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 11:29 AM

I thinks it's great

This just exposes the cretins.

In the words of our um. . .idiot leader: "Bring it on!"

Speaking of the Texas GOP convention

Did anyone else see the Wash. Post article (Style section) yesterday about the Texas GOP delegate who wants to put a plank in the Republican platform urging the removal of art in the nation's capital city that shows nudity? For anyone that hasn't been here, the city is full of Greco-Roman style artworks erected in the 1800's, typically in the style of the time, that is anywhere from tastefully bare-breasted to nude, similar to European cities of the same era. Of course, I have to assume that this particular Texan nimrod doesn't have an appreciation for such things as art or history.

Check out the article from "The Reliable Source" column, June 16, 2008 titled "A Chafed Texan in the Naked City".

Not to RNC Strategists:

This is 2008. The Southern Strategy stopped being effective last century.

I hope this gets a LOT of airplay. The 95% or people in this country who are not mouthbreathing crackers, most Republicans included, should be embarrassed to be in the same country as this redneck hate mounger. This incident needs to get tied tightly to the Republican party and the Texas Republicans in particular. And repeated loudly and often.

racism and condi

ok but where are all of these republican racist hatemongers when it comes to condi, or colin powell? are they there but i don't know about it? curious...

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 11:35 AM

Kid Rock is still alive?

News to me.

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 11:43 AM

I'd Be More Interested to Know ...

if they were selling and who was buying.

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 11:43 AM

I see a redneck and I want it painted black

stone cold racist fascist porkers, every last stinking one. as far as the condi and colon show, they're the "good coloreds" who know their place and can tapdance on request. Like in front of the UN. Screw 'em. Let's win this thing.

A child's first Republican primer

They'll have to specially rewrite all those old children's alphabet books for unfortunate kids born into GOP families:

"R is for Republican.

"R is for racist.

"See the Republican. The Republican is scared. Why is he scared? See the black man. Scary, scary black man.

"The black man wants to be president. The Republican wants to stop him from doing this. The Republican knows America is for white people, because Jesus made it that way for a reason.

"Yay, Republican! Get the scary black man!"

Every day, in every way, those bastards give me new and interesting ways to hate them just a leeeetle bit more.

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 11:47 AM

Bring it, part II

Try it. See how well it works. George Allen anyone?

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 11:48 AM

Alabama

LOL - the Cracker Box! Yes, that's what the White House should be called now, but it seems like they've been cracking their whips at just about everyone. Not to diminish the specific oppression of racism, but hasn't this administration treated large swaths of the human race including many of it's own citizens as less than human?

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 11:49 AM

"If Obama is President... will we still call it The White House?")

If one considers the lies, fear mongering, hate baiting, and war mongering that has prevailed in that storied house these past 7 1/2 years, I say the "color" ought to be change for the good of the country. That Texans would put up with this kind of shit is not surprising.

I wonder what the McAce camp will say? "I can't be responsible for every bigot who votes for me now can I? I mean those bitter hard working white guys deserve better don't they?"

Nauseating...

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 11:54 AM

to extend their logic...

if McCain becomes President, then we should just paint the White House a deep shade of BLOOD RED.

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 11:59 AM

Much Ado About Nothing

It's not clever. It doesn't even make sense. I love this button and hope it sells big.

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 12:07 PM

Lay your defects on the radio

Hell naw! We'll call it Chocolate City, baby!

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 12:08 PM

Let's deal with some of the moronic comments

...is the song "Paint the White House Black" racist too?

If someone says "no", would you claim that the pin isn't racist? If someone says "yes", would you claim that the pin is justified because something else is also racist, in a different way? If you answered "no" to both of those questions, why did you bother to post this? If you answered "yes" to either, are you cognitively challenged?

...The Cracker Box?

They don't have Crackerboxes where I come from (it's a chain of stores if anyone doesn't know), but I believe that the name is intended to convey identification with rural whites, not to insult them. It's "Crackerbox" not "Cracker" "Box". Am I racist against myself because I eat crackers?

If it is intended to insult, they must be idiots.

If someone insults poor rural white people (like most of my relatives and many of the other people in the relatively poor, rural, mainly white area I grew up in), does that mean it's okay to hurl racist insults at other ethnic groups? Isn't that kind of stupid? Wouldn't it make more sense to say "I don't like being insulted this way, so I don't do it to other people"?

ok but where are all of these republican racist hatemongers when it comes to condi, or colin powell? are they there but i don't know about it? curious...

Apparently yes, they are there, and you claim not to know about it.

So if there are any African-Americans at all whom they don't openly insult, even a tiny group of their close political allies, that must mean that they're not racist, no matter what they say about everyone else, is that your logic?

It's a free country, idiots at Texas Republican conventions are free to sell racist pins, and you three are free to make childish arguments trying to deny the obvious. But the rest of us are free to say what we think about that.
