Clinton and Obama, together at last

No, it's not for a joint ticket -- just a joint appearance.

The letters thread is now closed.

"the Clinton campaign wants its donors to contribute $2,300 -- the maximum allowable by law -- to Obama. "

Katetex? Jeb? Proudtexasgirl? The rest of you clinton folks? She said to do it....

Halelujah; you think this is going to help at all with Hillary's die-hards. . .

because I doubt it. Something tells me some of them are crouched down in that bunker to stay forever. Regardless of whether or not Obama wins. It'll be 2016 and they'll still be in that bunker, stuck in May of 2008, still talking about how Hillary was robbed of the nomination. Oh well.

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 04:41 PM

It's supposed to read Hallelujah

but the point remains the same. I hope these joint-ticket fundraisers do something. But not holding my breath.

It just seems that there's nothing Obama can do to win over some of these die-hards. Hence, he's got to go on and win. There's only so much time that can be spent appealing to Harriet Christian. Some of these more die-hard HRC supporters have already left the Democratic Party over this. Nothing much we can do about that.

Time to draw some more independents, sign up unregistered AAs and Latinos, and bring in young voters. We can't spend all of our time arguing over what kind of voters the Democratic nominee's going to get. We just have to get him enough voters to win. And if he does that by taking Colorado, New Mexico and Virginia rather than Ohio I'm just as happy.

@meffert

Clinton doesn't get to tell me how to spend my money. I vote for, and financially support, candidates I believe in.

@libertyson

You may want to be nicer to those of us in the bunker. You will probaly want to join us in January when McCain is sworn into office. Well... unless Obama does what he wants Clinton's supporters to do. If Obama swallows hard and gets behind the only candidate for VP who can actually help him, then we might all be able to get out of the bunker and enjoy the sunlight. Although right now it's 100, so a nice, cool bunker is a good place to be.

@jebldmm

Same goes for me.

People in Detroit booed Hillary when Barack spoke of her

Barack should take care of this. When it happens, he can stop, and ask people to stop it. He can say that Hillary deserves respect, and ask them to cheer instead. Ask them again, until they cheer.

He needs to do this. This is unity.

the die hard Hillary

No you won't win over the die hard 'so-called Hillary supporters" in here, as they are probably fake Hilary supporters like Hillary44 and Cynthia Ruccia's "Clinton Supporters Count To".

Cyntia Ruccia of Ohio who appeared on FOX & CNN in May crying sexism. At the same time she say's she's a femnist, she said in the interview that Abortion rights was not the main issue for women. My antena went up. Cynthia is a distributor of MaryKay products. Mary Kay is listed on the right wing, pro-life web site,Concerned Women of Americaas a "biblical business". The founder of Mary Kay make up has given large sums of money to pro-life organizations. Feminist Fro Life is an off shoot of this group. Is it possible Ruccia is connected to these groups.

I find it very interesting, that Cynthia Ruccia, is a Democrat, she ran as a pro-chocie candidate in OH a few years ago, but her attitude and does not seem to be pro-choice. For this reason I suspect that these Hillary supporters for McCain are just right-wingers trying to defeat Obama & the Democrats.

Obama always discouarges booing of Hillary. When they booed Hillary in Detriot, Obama was not speking, but Gore. Gore did try to stop them.

I saw that on the news, but I also saw him ask them to stop booing and give Senator Clinton some respect.

I feat that even though Clinton and Obama may be working hard to come together, the media has an interest in playing up their differences and will continue to do so. Kind of like the media will always see Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston as bitter rivals and competitors, even though both of them appear to have chosen in their own lives to move on.

cheers to party unity and no booing at our own side! we need us all to win in November, that is the honest truth.

I feat that i'm a bad typist. Hopefully you know what I meant.

HIllary & unity

HIllary more than Obam needs to forge unity. After all look at all those outragoeus Hillary supporters threatening to vote for McCain. Hillary should speak out againist this divisiveness and encourage her supporters to get behind Obama. Why hasn't she?

She made a pretty weak appeal in her speech.

bernbart

did you ever hear that story where JFK received two conflicting messages from the Russians during the Bay of Pigs. He had to decide what to do and he famously decided to respond to the less war mongering of the two?

Who knows. That might have stopped a war with the USSR. I think there's still a lot of primary fight left in us, but the energy needs to be directed toward the general election. We can't wait for Clinton to send a flawless appeal to her supporters. Even if she did--a few might not hear it. But we can respond to her appeal to support Obama as if she already has. Give her (and her supporters) the benefit of the doubt unless we have some absolute reason not to.

cheers.

Dolores,

Aye git yer typing. You are a champ. Do not apologise! Barack! Speak to your people, and get them to cheer Hillary.

I have no doubt that Democrats and the majority of Hillary supporters are uniting with Obama supporters. What I am saying is that groups like "Hillary Supporters count To", are most likely right wingers trying to divide the party.

If Hillary keeps speaking about unity, then it will help down these divisive voices.

I also agree with you that the media pundits like to stir things up. I think they miss all the DRAMA now that Hillary is not in the race. In fact the media created much of the drama.

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 06:34 PM

Now I get it...

Most of these die hard Billary Clintoon supporters aren't actually Democrats. They were just behind the woman candidate.

Now that she is no longer, they can vote McCain with a clear conscious, though not without crying and whining first.

I would guess that Moanin' Joan falls into this category. Look for Salon to endorse McCain any day now.
