The "independent Democrat" from Connecticut gets a talking-to from Obama, but his Senate position looks safe for now, despite his active support of McCain.

  • Kick his ass Barack

    Its about time.

  • Smear this blight against the walls of the Senate

Its time for Joe Lieberman to put up or shut up. You wanna caucus with the Democrats? Do it. You wanna kiss McCain's ass? Do that. But at some point, if you walk on thin ice long enough, it's gonna break. And it looks like the real democrats will be under it when he falls. And he's NOT gonna enjoy that.

  • Here's another 500 letter tirade

throw the Joe down the well. dirka dirka. Because no one else spoke to Obama and no one else is responsible for the stunningly bad job Congress has done the last two years.

  • A True American

Yes, yes, the Senator from Tel Aviv always puts Americans first when he makes his policy decisions. I'm sure the non-Jewish constituents of Connecticut sleep soundly knowing that ole Joe has their back (especially those with children fighting in Iraq for 'America').

  • Lieberman at the 2008 Republican National Convention

All I can say is, at least we won't have to endure a performance reminiscent of Zell Miller's at the 2004 Republican National Convention. His total meltdown on national TV, while entertaining, was beyond anything Joe is capable of producing.

All that Joe can do is bore us to death with his sickeningly annoying WHINE. Lord, are we going to be faced with turncoat Democrats offering up speeches at each and every GOP convention in future?

  • His days in the Senate are numbered...

If I were Barack and I won the Presidency, I'd name Lieberman to some cabinet post he couldn't possibly fuck up, like Labor or make him the Drug czar. Then fire his ass for incompetency 6 months later (AFTER the CT special election, naturally).

There's more than one way to skin this particular cat.

  • SEN JOE

As a Clinton supporter, I know of no better person than Joe Lieberman to convince me to vote for Obama.

Keep up the good work, Joe.

  • So now we have Robot 2

I'm guessing the moderators finally banned Electro Robot?

  • Towards a real majority

Hopefully, this election will put enough Democrats in the Senate to allow stripping Leibermann of any chairmanship, committee assignments and power. Let this nasty little power hungry egotist deflect to his true party. Good bye and good luck to you...

"Loserman", indeed. Let him caucus with those who delighted in calling him that.

  • luv luv luv the lbj reference

taking his listener by the coat lapels and examining his nostrils while conversing.

(see _the longest debate_ by charles w. & barbara whalen)

  • Sorry, Sorry, Sorry

As a Connecticut voter I wish to apologize for not doing more (besides voting for Lamont in the Democratic Primary) to prevent that snake, Lieberman, from being unleashed upon the Senate. Having grown up in Arizona, I was just happy to get away from McCain.

  • Reid signaling he will no longer be Senate Majority Leader next year

    I mean, WTF, Harry?

  • Strip Joe of his committees

It's time to send Joe LIEberman packing. That will be a delicious bon-bon the day that happens, let's hope it's shortly after Reid gets his pathetic ass replaced as Senate majority leader by Hillary Clinton.

  • Yesss!

I am so delighted to hear that Obama has literally backed up that turncoat Lieberman against a wall and given him a sound whuppin', LBJ-style. Reid should have been taking notes on the technique.

  • Love it. Looooove it.

Barack is going to take charge of this party, and eventually take charge of this country, and he's not going to put up with this bullshit from hacks like Lieberman. This is something I've wanted to do for awhile -- get in Lieberman's face and ask him what the hell he thinks he is doing. I have a feeling Barack is going to be doing many things I've wanted to do for awhile.

  • Lieberman the Statesman

If, after the Democratic landslide, the Democrats do not dump the slime ball, they deserve what they get from the disingenuous worm.

"..country before political party" my tokhes!

  • re: His days in the Senate are numbered...

    origins,

"If I were Barack and I won the Presidency, I'd name Lieberman to some cabinet post he couldn't possibly fuck up, like Labor or make him the Drug czar. Then fire his ass for incompetency 6 months later (AFTER the CT special election, naturally). There's more than one way to skin this particular cat."

AH a GOOD plan, origins...ASSUMING Joe is dumb enough to take the position offered. The man doesn't strike me as stupid enough to take a job like that...and I suspect he's quite comfortable as a US Senator.

But it IS a good plan...implementation is a problem though.

  • Shibboleth: "Democrat Party"

    Lieberman is quoted as saying:

"and was the Democrat Party's nominee for Vice-President of the United States."

So Sen. Zoidberg's using the political epithet "Democrat party" now. Nice.

As for his having been the nominee for VP, well more fools we and they for that.

  • Seriously though

FTA: "Obama literally backed up Lieberman against the wall, leaned in very close at times, and appeared to be trying to dominate the conversation"

So what? Seriously, what can Obama do if Joe tells him to kiss off?

Can't kick him out of the Senate...only his constituents can do that.

Can't kick him off the various committees he's on...that takes a majority to do that.

Seriously, what CAN be done? I guess Obama could petition the DNC to withhold funds for his campaign...but I suspect they are already doing that.

Anyone else know what can be done???

  • Excellent

The fact that BarryO is taking page from LBJ, the third-Greatest post-WWII is heartening news. LBJ was the real deal... and if BarryO can learn from him, instead of ashamedly ignore him like the rest of the modern Left, then maybe BarryO won't necessarily be the next Jimmy Carter....

  • About f'ing time someone read Lieber-f**k the riot act.

    Go Obama.

  • Enough!

By using his Democratic Party bonafides to betray and attack that party's nominee, in favor of a candidate who will continue Smirky Darth's catastrophic destruction of this country, Lieberman has proven himself to be a clear and present danger - an immediate danger - to the physical, economic and diplomatic security of the nation.

The one Obama needs to be leaning on is Harry Reid, and keep leaning until Reid stands up with Obama on national television and says:

"Joe Lieberman is not a Democrat. Joe Lieberman is not a Democrat. Joe Lieberman is not a Democrat."

  • the best way to get rid of him is

Offer him an ambassadorship to some small, faraway country, or maybe even a middling one, and make sure he spends as much time there as possible.

Or to the United Nations. Same difference.
