Lieberman is an observant Orthodox Jew and you don't see him running around Washington or on the campaign trail with McCain wearing a yarmulke.
in a modern ortho congregation. My apologies.
The guy served as a non-combatant volunteer with the Israeli army during the Gulf War? Well, isn't that special. If he's so hell-bent on military service and his contributions to war in the Middle East, why doesn't he serve in the American military?
IT IS ABOUT TIME. IT IS A BEAUTIFUL THING TO WATCH HER AND HER DESPERATE CAMPAIGN IMPLODE !!!!!!!
He's just a driveby comedian. I have even started laughing at his jokes occasionally. Or maybe it's just that I'm in a good mood about Obama....
What's your obsession with Jews and Salon? Apparently you think we all hate Jews? I have no idea what you're on about.
I ask honestly...dude, what's up with that?
Most Jews do not call someone religious if they don't wear a skullcap. I googled "rahm emanuel religious" and came up with little to support this. A "believing Jew", perhaps, but I doubt he's what you call observant.
I, by the way, am not religious at all. Just saying that if you hope a non-skullcap wearing Jew will be enough to convince hardcore Jewish religio-nationalists to vote for Obama, you are mistaken. I wish this were true, but it is not.
We are looking forward to an article about every congressperson, pundit, super delegate, governor, state legislator, and major city mayor who endorses Obama.
Keep us informed oh bright and shining beacon of the free press!
We are ever so thrilled and excited by the news!
... and he headed the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee during the party's very successful election year in 2006.
That is a factual statement. He did head the DCCC, and the Democrats were very successful. The implication that he had anything to do with it, however, is misleading.
Emanuel has not been a fan of the 50-state strategy, and his approach to backing Democratic candidates was to choose the most conservative Democrats he could find. In general those he put money on, such as Harold Ford, lost, while most of those who won upsets he dismissed as lost causes.
In short, Emanuel represents the old DLC, "Republican Lite" strategy. It's possible he's rethinking his views -- he does seem to float with the political winds -- but if anything he was a hinderance to the 2006 election successes.
I'm kind of surprised to see Emanuel endorse Obama, even this late in the game. He's a DLC darling, so he was clearly tight with the Clintons. Still, he's a fighter through and through, so if even Emanuel is going Obama, then HR Clinton is going to have to go third party, or else dig a deeper bunker.
More Good News for Obama. At least Obama is the one candidate who talks about "negotiations and diplomacy" with Iran. While Hillary talks about "obliterating" Iran and McCain sings "bomb bomb bomb bomb Iran" and repeats the right wing radicals unsubstantiated claims about Iran.
The amazing thing is can you imagine any other lobbying organization that had provided the vehicle for two "alleged" spies like Rosen and Weissman to access U.S. classified intelligence and then "allegedly" pass that intelligence off to Israeli officials would have all of the Presidential candidates there kissing their asses.
Can you imagine if the Turkish Lobbying Association or another country's lobbying organization had been part of undermining U.S. National security and three years later all of the candidates would be at a conference supporting that organization. How does the Israeli Lobby do it?
