The letters thread is now closed.

@John762

I'm sure there are some of Limbaugh's ditto-heads marching to his "Operation Chaos" orders who have done exactly what you stated in Kentucky and many other states since early March at least. The Washington Spectator stated recently that it may have tipped the popular vote in Texas and I believe DAILY KOS pointed to exit polls from the IN primary showing that the number of Clinton voters who stated they planned to vote for McCain in November provided just enough for her to win the popular vote there also. So I'd say there is evidence to support your assertion at least in some of these closely contested states. Kentucky and West Virginia? I doubt the Rethugs could account for all of Clinton's sizeable leads, but I suppose as desperate as they are getting seeing as how McCain's weak fundraising shows no signs of taking off, they might be capable of anything at this point.

As for white Appalachia disliking Obama, maybe they need to join Clinton's all-too-well paid crack team of advisors in a trip back to 5th-grade math class because it appears they can't get a grip on numbers as well. You know, those numbers like Clinton's negativity ratings spiking once she went all negative all the time while piling up a campign debt of $20 million and change in the process. Another number the hillbillies might need to grasp is the one that keeps coming around showing the dumbass they rubber-stamped for occupancy at The White House two consecutive times with an approval rating around 30%. Perhaps if they understood numbers such as those, they might finally get a clue that as to why many in America have been making much different choices then they did this time around.

White mountain people from red states dislike Obama? That's all I needed to know in order to feel even more satisfaction that I voted for him back in the February WI primary.

Hooray?

Congratulations on your demographic Hillary! You've won the racist vote in every state.. You probably got my Father's vote in CA too. Well done (as in burnt), what strength of character (cartoon character). Huzzah! Please bow out on June 4th and try to do it with some modicum of "grace"?

Way to go Hill!

Good win tonight. Keep fighting for the working folks. Please don't listen to these priveliged eggheads tell you that this race is over.

@john762

Sorry, but that tired old Republican chestnus has been retired, after acknowledgment that Obama has likely gotten more 'mischief' votes' than has Hillary, small as the totals for either may be. Give it up. There are voters out there, millions of them, who actually like Hillary.

@katetex

What kind of abacus are you using to calculate votes, delegates, etc? Because us lemmings here in looking glass land our count shows Obama winning in all of those categories. I guess all of the lattes and arugula are making us retarded.

Wow

What crystal balls we all have.

It will be around 58-35

Obama is already behind and the Eastern part of the State will have 75% or more of his voters. It looks like around a 20% win.

Some will vote for uncommited (it's on the ballot) and Edwards. Those will make up the difference. It shouldn't be a West Virginia blow out, but will be bigger than OR.

@kaweah

It doesn't matter what Hillary's margin in Kentucky will be. Obama will find a way to walk all over her victory and the MSM will flock like lemmings to his side per usual, relegating Hillary to a another funeral notice aside. Just another day in looking glass land.

A large number of primary votes Clinton is getting is once again Repuglicans

A large number of repugs in KY register Democratic so they can cause undermine the Democratic primaries.

It looks like this time they finally have their chance to cause some mischief.

@kaweahdave

I don't expect the early results to be much like the final outcome. States with large rural areas seem to shift toward Hillary as the counting goes on. This may be because the more rural sections that are likely to favor Hillary aren't as quick to report their tallies as urban sections that lean more toward Obama.

Tuesday, May 20, 2008 04:34 PM

unfortunately ...

the first results are close because the big cities reported first. Obama will win the two large cities, and will lose parts of far eastern Kentucky by about four to one.

The exits polls suggest that Hillary will win 65-30 or so. And later tonight, Obama will win Oregon by a large margin, though probably not this large.

Appalachian whites really dislike Obama.

With 16%

Obama is trailing 51-46. If these results are more or less consistent through the night, then it won't be the West Virginia-sized rout that some had expected.
