Say what?

In a statement, White House press secretary Dana Perino said, "An article in today's Jerusalem Post about the president's position on Iran that quotes unnamed sources -- quoting unnamed sources -- is not worth the paper it's written on...

But unnamed sources are the basis of much of today's alleged journalism. Is the White House admitting that most of the press is bogus?

Peaceful diplomatic means....

Just like the ones they used to get Saddam Hussein to peacefully disarm after he very sneakily said he'd let UN weapons inspectors back into the country.

In other developments, Dana Perino commented today on the Cuban Missile Crisis, which, of course, was when a CIA-backed force landed at the Bay of Pigs on the south coast of Cuba.

Question...

Is citing an "unnamed source" anything like quoting a "senior Administration official?"

A Denial Worth Nothing

In a statement, White House press secretary Dana Perino said, "An article in today's Jerusalem Post about the president's position on Iran that quotes unnamed sources -- quoting unnamed sources -- is not worth the paper it's written on... [O]ur preference and our actions for dealing with this matter remain through peaceful diplomatic means. Nothing has changed in that regard."

First of all, I am not saying that Junior is planning immediate, or even near-term, military action (he certainly doesn't confide in me). But anyone with half a memory will recall the similar claims made by the malAdministration in late '02 and early '03. This denial is worthless.

Oh, and Dana, does this mean that all of L'il George's "some say" quotes are equally valueless?

Tuesday, May 20, 2008 12:09 PM

Huh?

Is Dana Perino saying that the Jerusalem Post is not worth the paper it is printed on? I find this scary report out of Israel to be fairly credible given the prior actions of this blighted administration.

Tuesday, May 20, 2008 12:14 PM

"Nothing has changed"

The only part of that statement I believe.

The administration's track record

The administratin's track record certainly doesn't lead me to put much faith in this denial. Here's praying that...at least this once...they are in fact telling the truth.

diplomacy?

Diplomacy means talking. I thought Bush accused those who would talk with Iran (Obama) were appeasers. What am I missing?

Tuesday, May 20, 2008 12:31 PM

So Alex, everyone is lying

Even when they say two completely different and opposite things. The source always lies and the denial is a lie. Uh ok.

Tuesday, May 20, 2008 12:32 PM

And you can believe what she says because . . .

. . . because . . . because . . . er, can I buy a vowel?

Poor John McCain

Without a foreign policy goal like bombing Iran, the McCain Presidency would be a fish out of water. The politics of fear, of course, requires there to be a "bad guy" out there. With the Iran option off the table, the McCain Presidency would have to consider North Korea--but those guys are potentially dangerous--you can't really rattle sabers at them, because they might just pull out a pistol and shoot. So really the only safe "bad guy" out there was Iran.

How could the Bush Administration dare to steal Poor John McCain's thunder?

Tuesday, May 20, 2008 01:06 PM

As opposed to having a 'policy' that includes talking to these guys....

The following is the transcript of a speech delivered by Hamas Culture Minister Atallah Abu Al-Subh. The speech aired on Al-Aqsa TV on May 18, 2008.

"I Can See the Blood of the Children of Afghanistan Between [Bush's] Fangs; Their Blood Drips Onto His Lips And Chest; He Is Dracula, a Vampire"

Atallah Abu Al-Subh: "American support of Israel is total. It gets to the point where the Israeli demands turn into resolutions adopted by the Security Council, under the complete auspices of America. Thank you, America!

"In every alley, house, and neighborhood, and [whenever they commit] a holocaust, the Israelis should erect a statue of little Bush, who gave them everything. This is not viewed as deplorable by the mistress of criminality, America, or by the master of killing, destruction, crime, violence, tyranny, and injustice - little Bush.

"I can see the blood of the children of Afghanistan between his fangs. Their blood drips onto his lips and chest. He is Dracula, a vampire. I can see the holocausts in which the Iraqi people is burned, the land that is being torn to shreds, the oil that is being plundered, and the four million Iraqis scattered throughout the land, or exiled in their own country.

"The forces of little Bush deny them their lives every morning. They destroy civilization and humanity, until the day comes when he can bring Israel the good tidings: In Baghdad, there is a nation that loves peace with the Israelis.

"All the Hatred... That Consumes People from Within are Matches Lit by Bush... [He] Thirsts for Blood Day and Night"

"He tells us that the situation in Damascus and Iran will inevitably change, and that the peoples and regimes there will be transformed into neo-Americans, who protect every Israeli smile, and welcome every bullet used to kill their Arab brothers.

"This is what is going on. These are the 'good tidings' Bush brings us. Afghanistan is being destroyed, Iraq is being destroyed - Qana, the Al-'Amariya shelter... All the hatred and all the fire that consumes people from within are matches lit by Bush. Bush will be [deemed] the worst human being - if I may go so far as to call him a human - throughout history. The deeds committed by Nero pale in comparison with Bush's deeds. The crimes of warlords like Mussolini, Hitler, and Franco cannot be compared to one-quarter of Bush's shoelace - let alone to his full height.

"Bush thirsts for blood day and night. He derives pleasure from killing. He has surpassed all types of crimes and all sadistic traits. That's Bush for you. With all his audacity and insolence, Bush tears the Arab land to shreds. He makes decisions and has the audacity to call for the killing of life, and the killing of any person fighting for his right to live. That's Bush for you."

Sound rational, no? Sounds like someone Obama can have a nonalcoholic beer with, and just shoot the shit? Sounds like a plan.

Come to think of it. Hamas sounds like Salon editorial policy.

Trash

Trash talking Dana Perino talking Repug Bushie trash. I'd sooner believe the Jerusalem Post before I'd believe anything from this bunch of bullies, thieves and killers of the 'Culture of Death' for profits and political expediancy/power.

The wimps in the WH and their trolls and an ever longer string of BS. Any idiot who would ever believe anything they would say is, well, an idiot. What a load of tripe from tripe talking Dana. I wonder what gurantees she is willing to offer, will she quit her job if she is wrong. Did snow job Tony Snow or Scott McClellan quit for Plamegate etc. Amazing how 'inaccurate' they can be. The bunch of lying phonies. Not a day goes by...

Next they'll be crying they have been misunderstood and misjudged. Then they will attack Iran. But Bin Laden and the Saudis are still out there. While Iran who has not attacked anyone in 250yrs gets bombed. So I say, WHAT ABOUT BIN LADEN?????? You bunch of jerks. Or could this really be about Big Oil. like the last one was all about Big Oil.. And we all remember, what was the name of that country, Oh I remember, it was IRAQ.

And all of this is what they call Pro-Life and Family Values. Hello right wing religious, including my own religion. I think I'll send another email to my local Bishop. I can't wait to hear another rationalization.
