Maps produced by Karl Rove's consulting firm show Hillary Clinton winning more electoral votes against John McCain than Barack Obama does.

  • Rove's Math

Rove's math also showed the Republicans would kick ass in 2006. In fact, he's the genius who gave us the permanent Republican majority. How's that working out?

And what did Rove's maps tell you about Mississippi's 1st Congressional District?

And why should we give a damn what this criminal thinks anyway?

  • If Rove had his way, the Democratic infighting would continue indefinitely

    Nothing to see here.

  • "The demon is a liar"

"The demon is a liar. He will lie to confuse us. But he will also mix lies with the truth to attack us. The attack is psychological, but powerful. So don't listen, remember that, do not listen."

  • Nebraska

A nit: Nebraska may well have given Bush all five of its EV's in 2000 and 2004, but it allots them by congressional district (2 at large) and Obama should win one and may win two this year.

  • Wow and all this before....

Grandpa gets his ass handed to him on a platter in the first debate

  • "There are some good reasons to doubt the accuracy of these maps."

They come from Karl Rove. Need more be said?

  • Last ditch effort

The republicans want to go up against Clinton in the GE since they know no other name in politics will so energize their base.

  • where's turbo-bot?

I'm disppointed that he hasn't yet annointed this thread with his deposits of brown wisdom...

Clinton does better in the electoral college? Right....keep smoking that turbo stuff....

  • Holy Krap!

What a quote from the exorcist! Well done!

  • On Wisconsin!

The Republicans got their ass kicked in 2006 in Wisconsin. They failed to win the governor's mansion, they lost the Senate, and they got narrowed down quite a bit in the Assembly.

This happened largely because of the youth vote. College kids, especially in Madison, actually do turn out to vote.

These kids are energized this year for Obama, as we saw in the primary. Many old-line Wisconsin Republicans don't care much for McCain; some will hold their nose when they vote, some just won't vote. A surprising number like Obama.

Wisconsin will go for Obama by four to ten points. Wisconsin would be a squeaker for HRC.

More head-faking tripe from the clown known by Dumbya as Turd Blossom. The curtain's been pulled back on this jerk, and he's mortal like the rest of us. Except that he has no ethics, conscience, or principles.

let me see if I can do my impression of WES - ahem...

    snarky snark snark...Obamamites...snark, snarky,snark...Clinton..snark..Kentucky, Ohio and Pennsylvania...snark, snark...he's just stating the truth...snarrrrrrrrrk.

  • Why are you assuming that it's 2000 or 2004?

The issue right now isn't how states voted in the past, it is how people are expected to vote in the upcoming election. The issue also isn't whether states trend Democratic, but whether people are more likely to vote for Clinton/Obama over McCain. I'm the first to admit that predictions about upcoming elections this far out are unreliable, but the data are disturbing nonetheless. Obama is at his peak in terms of getting news coverage, much of it good, and he is the nominal winner of the Democratic Primary. He has barely been scorched by the right win attack machine. He should be way ahead of McCain at this point. But every electoral map I've seen has him losing to McCain.

This doesn't bode well for Democrats. People have decided who they like - and it isn't Obama. A lot of Clinton Dems are planning on sitting out this election or voting for McCain, because they simply don't like Obama's politics. Moderates never did like him. They think he's too young and too arrogant. People expect their candidates to at least try to fake humble, and Obama doesn't do this well. He chose to use a divisive strategy to win the primary, and it worked. Now he has to try to heal some deep wounds before the general election - at the same time as he fends off right wing attacks. Calling McCain a racist won't work - people are onto that trick. McCain is well-liked among moderates, Obama isn't. This election was ours to lose - and we have pretty much ensured that we will lose it.

  • What would you EXPECT Rove to say?

"Good going Democrats, you've picked the right candidate who will be tougher for us to beat?"

Turdblossom's too devious, for that. Republicans are getting signs from all over that the last eight years are catching up to them in terms of trouble at the ballot box. Including three straight wins of Democrats in Republican Congressional districts. If they can't win on their merits, they'll try to sow chaos.

Six months really IS an eternity in politics, and Obama's run a damn good campaign, so far. If he can beat Hillary, I'm betting he can take on McCain, too. And win. What is McCain, DOING, after all? He's trying to make himself a clone of the least popular president in history, and wants to continue that president's policies, even though increasing numbers of Americans believe the country's seriously on the wrong track. Bush's coattails begin at about the nape of his neck, leaving his back bare. If you're a SMART republican running this year, wouldn't it make sense to distance yourself from a disastrous incumbent in every way possible?? Emphasize where you disagree with him, and how you would do things differently? But there's McCain, busily brown-nosing George. I'm not too impressed with McCain's sense of strategy, at this point.

  • Intentional Misinformation

Which of the two Democratic candidates would the GOP love to run against? The one who would make Republicans rise from their graves to vote? The one who would erase Independent crossovers?

    Take a wild guess...

    More BS Spin from Turdblossom.

  • Why is Rove so eager?

... to prove that Obama can't beat McCain but Clinton can? Unfortunately it is too late for him to convince Democrats that he is their caring, loving, trustworthy uncle and they can achieve success by doing whatever he tells them to ...

One has to wonder whether his tireless efforts to show how weak and useless Obama is hints at an underlying (gasp) worry? Concern? Fear?

  • please whatever you do....

don't throw me into that brie'er patch!

  • @Yet another David

Great use of a movie quote! And never truer.

  • They're Not Perfect, but...

go to uselectionatlas.org and you can see basically the same thing. Also, I imagine that ND is listed as a tossup because there's just no polling that's been done there. It's definitely the case that Obama has a way lower floor than Hillary. He's a good bet to lose Florida, is obviously weaker in states like Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and there's a chance he could lose Michigan since he effectively blocked a revote there. On the other hand, he has a higher ceiling than Hillary, but that doesn't really matter; it's not as if you get extra credit for winning in a landslide.
