Responding to attacks about his foreign policy positions from both John McCain and President Bush, Obama says he's ready to debate the issues, and win on them.

  • Summary

Obama kicked McCain's and Bush's ass. McCain responded with "Wah!" Then Obama said, "Yer a big baby." Then McCain pooped in his pants and fed hot dogs to the members of the press on his bus.

  • keep attacking

keep pairing and attacking McCain and Bush, Democrats. Don't let their lies take root.

  • Tucker Bounds . . .

. . . needs a wheelbarrow in which to haul around his enormous balls.

Throwing down a challenge to debate an issue is a "hysterical diatribe"? Wow. Considering that McCain's regular psychotic outbursts are pleasantly wiped aside as displays of his "passionate" nature, calling Obama's simple laundry list of neo-con failings "hysterical" is just sadly disingenuous.

Though he did reveal the new big Repub talking point "What would you say to such a man?" This is the second different talking head I've heard this line come from re: talking with Iran.

Since the Neo-cons and the terror-stricken portion of the bobble-head electorate (christ, that's a lot of hyphens) lack the imagination to think of even a rudimentary approach to diplomacy, I think Obama needs to step up and answer the question.

He needs to explain how he would approach the situation. What he expects from the Iranian power structure and how he would hope to deal with it.

  • "Hysterical diatribe" vs "Historical contradiction"

McSenile and his "where am I at this week" tour of potential retirement homes is amazing. Here we have a guy who doesn't know from one minute to the next what he actually believes in, and who changes his "beliefs" to fit the audience that he is talking to.

Grampa McSenile should get his principles straight, before he has the audacity to actually address Obama, who is an honorable man unused to talking to knaves, thieves and perverts, today's Repukeliscum Party.

  • All he needs to do

Is to put together a short video of the amalgamated cons, flip flops and outright lies proffered by this administration and bring it to every speaking engagement to remind Mr & Mrs Short Attention Span America of what this adminsitration has wrought

  • foreign policy positions

We must not forget that the present situation was developed under both Bush presidencies AND the Clinton administration.

If Obama goes to Iran to talk, that is better than firing cruise missiles into empty Al-Qaida camps as President Clinton did.

President-elect Eisenhower ended the active war in Korea by going there. Advisors said, "You can't do that." Eisenhower said, "Yes, I can" and off he went and got what he wanted. A change that could be believed in. Less dead Americans.

  • This is Obama's strength

Never forget that the election is decided by the low information voters in the middle -- the so-called "centrists" or "moderates" who just aren't that interested in the details, but who do have a sense of how well (or not) things are going.

This is where Obama will shine relative to McCain. Both men are very good at sounding reasonable and "balanced" in controlled media situations, but in a debate situation McCain will appear militant to the point of war-mongering, while Obama will appear moderate, reasonable, and rational. There may have been a time (late 2001?) when the apolitical middle would have preferred McCain's take-no-prisoners approach, but the apolitical middle is now weary of a neverending war that has no apparent purpose, and is cynical about the motivations of the war's promoters. They are looking for new leadership, and in a debate situation McCain will make it clear he represents 4 more years of the same.

  • Yes, Virginia...a Dem can Lay the Smack Down

It damn near brought a tear to my eye to see Barack call these two neocon chicken-sh*ts out!

And what the hellare McCain & his campaign leaders thinking?!?!?! Allying and positioning himself with Dubya - one of the most unpopular Presidents in modern history - just months before the election ?!?!?

Don't get me wrong...as a Dem/lib I would absolutely love it if more and more Americans see McCain as simply the third coming of Bush. But as a political spectator, I simply have to wonder if Johnny really is going to actively go on board the sinking ship that is the current administration, simply to build his foreign policy platform...

  • "hysterical diatribe"??

Nice to see the Republicans are still trotting out the ol' "Democrats are P*ssies" argument...I do love the golden oldies!

  • Wow... they're getting desparate out there in McCainland

    Hysterical diatribe? How touchy...

If that's going to be his attitude at some fairly mild attacks, can you imagine him in his debate? I wouldn't be surprised to see some kind of rant for the ages. Some filthy language or off color remarks, perhaps.

Keep 'em comin, Obama. McCain is set to vote against the new GI bill. When and if he does, we need to grind him to dust on that issue.

  • Good Job Barack!

The Bush foreign policy is, to put it mildly, unpopular. And the more his campaign can link McCain with Bush's failed foreign policy, the more appealing he will be.

  • @blueamberol

Some countries/organizations you can talk to in hopes of resolving differences without resort to arms or to settle open hostilities. Some you can't. Do you really believe we can place Osama bin Laden in the "can talk to" category, after the African embassy bombings, the attack on the Cole, 9/11? I'm skeptical.

  • Moraliste, eating crow

I want to take this opportunity right now to apologize to the author of Monday's Poetry v Fear essay. I can't believe nobody directly called me on such foul and reprehensible language. It's no good excuse, but it was a kick the dog after a few too many drinks deal. Of course, that does not excuse using such words either over the Net or in person. As for Texas Girl and her haters and admirers, I pointed out in my last post I realized it was not my fight, which it wasn't. I didn't like the foul language and prison yard bullying by the one poster, and I still think his " poetry " is gibberish. I never blog on politics and I gave myself a good reason not to do so again, probably. Again, I apologize for such disgraceful scurrilous namecalling.

  • Ha... Fox News...

Do they think we're retarded? My coworker was watching them, and Cavuto tried to imply that Bush was just referring to people in general, and no one in particular...

I know when it's rain hitting my back, and buddy, that's not rain.
