Would you have voted for Margaret Thatcher? Or better still, would you vote for Elizabeth Dole or Condoleeza Rice? Just asking.

Indira Gandhi went down in infamy. So did Benazir Bhutto. Daughters of politicians who did nothing fof the women in their respective countries.

"Of course the men don't want to share power. Duh. If Hillary wins, she might appoint women to 50% of the positions in the government. What if a woman were Secretary of Defense? Or Head of the Fed?"

Whoa!!! You're painting with a Pret-ty broad brush there buddy...would you like to retract that statement or are you gonna stand by such blatant bigotry?

  • karenn22 re: NAFTA

Read up a bit more on that topic...especially from the Canadian Press. It wasn't so much that Obama's advisor said it was all "hot air"...more that our Conservative jerk of a PM twisted the facts and leaked the meeting to the press in order to muss up the Ohio Primary.

sorry, that's a bit of a bugbear of mine (also I hate Stephen Harper with a passion)

  • so let me get this straight...

NARAL endorsing a pro-choice candidate is somehow not "letting her finish?"

So when will she be finished? After Obama hits 2026? Or 2210? Or June 4th when the primaries end? Or at the convention? Inauguration Day?

You just tell us, Hillary supporters, when it's ok to endorse. Because we know what you really mean. Even more so than with the Richardson endorsement, you've shown your true selves here.

And to the person who said this would cause her to never donate to NARAL again, let me ask you...what's more important? That you get your particular pro-choice candidate (over another solidly pro-choice candidate), or that women have access to health care and reproductive services?

    Good job by you...really.

You lost all credibility here when you predicted the Republicans would sweep congress because of Obama. How did that special election in Mississippi feel? There aren't enough traitors like you left in the country for your precious John McCain to get elected. You are a rat deserting a ship that isn't even sinking. Enjoy your swim.

  • ...

"What if a woman were Secretary of Defense? Or Head of the Fed?"

Or Secretary of State, for that matter. That would really change things.

Also, to ShawnWM, sesanders, and all the other deadenders warning of dire portent in the PA, OH, WV numbers, here's the key fact you seem to be missing: Primary performance is no indicator of general election voting. Ask Al Gore.

Or you could look at all the polls, which have Obama beating McCain, even now, after three months of kid glove treatment for the Senator from Arizona. (As would pretty much any other Democrat, including Sen. Clinton.)

So, sorry, your revenge fantasies will have to remain unfulfilled. Mark my words: Sen. Obama is going to win in November, and win handily.

The polls were predicting Dukakis would win and John Kerry, too. Added to that, there wasn't an insurrection surrounding their nominations, either. Polls have been showing all this month that Hillary outpolls Obama against McCain in national match-ups.

Also, as far as Ohio being a bellwether state, it is and that pertains to primary votes. Do you actually believe that W. Virginia will change its mind and vote for Obama? It is not going to happen.

Of course there are reasons not to vote for her, and people can differ on the issues, but the opposition to her is expressed in sexist terms. So what am I supposed to think? When I see highly paid talking heads on NBC News calling her a bitch,"

This is something that strikes me as a double-standard. What else are you supposed to call a woman when conveying the idea that you don;t like her? An ass? A d!ck? By your standards, those are inherently 'misandrist.' Let's call up NBC and protest.

In normal discourse, MOST of our insults are gender-coded. Is it silly? Probably, but hardly indicative of a male conspiracy to keep a woman out of the White house. And no, I don't think any of those terms should be used.

"and Bill Kristol on Fox News saying after her New Hampshire win that "white women are the problem,"

When was the last time Bill Kristol, of Fox news, was the standard by which the entire media is judged, when commenting on the DEMOCRATIC nomination process? Kristol is an a$$ (OK, to play by PC rules, an A$$bitch) who in no sense represents Obama or his supporters.

"and declaring her a loser even when she wins, what am I supposed to think!"

Well, she's losing the nomination race. Don't confuse a minor skirmish (West Virginia) with the war (Nomination.)

"Of course the men don't want to share power. Duh. If Hillary wins, she might appoint women to 50% of the positions in the government. What if a woman were Secretary of Defense? Or Head of the Fed? The men in control would never stand for it."

Nice way to stereotype about all men. "The men." Sheesh.

Have you heard of Madeleine Albright or Condoleezza Rice?

Bring it on. Hillary for HUD guru. That would be fantastic.

Karenn22 writes: Hillary said that she would renegotiate it[NAFTA]. What has Obama said about it? Will he renegotiate it? Repeal it? Who knows, he never says anything specific. But we know what a member of his campaign said to the Canadian government: that Obama's anti-NAFTA rhetoric was hot air.

You've got to be kidding me. Renegotiating NAFTA is a part of Obama's platform on the economy, which you would know if you bothered to look into it.

You are equally uninformed about the Canada debacle. The Clinton camp was accused of the exact same thing, allegedly telling the Canadian government to take HRC's anti-NAFTA rhetoric "with a grain of salt."

Again, you're only showing your unwillingness to think critically about your candidate.

  • Obama and Women

Josiah Rowe: That is more a pro-choice speech. Feminism is about much more than just that one issue. Obama ought to deliver a speech on feminism that lays out where he stands and draw strong contrasts to the GOP's complete lack of concern with women's rights. The recent Supreme Court decision on equal pay for women would not have happened if we had more Democratic appointees on the bench, and McCain would open the door for all kinds of reversals in civil and women's rights for generations to come.

Sesanders: I am sure by now plenty of people have pointed out the difference between primary results and general election results. Not to mention they are two different stages of campaigning. Obama has introduced himself to primary voters and pointed out some minor differences between himself and Senator Clinton (being that relatively minor differences are the only ones available) but the next phase is a whole different story. Now voters have to choose between Obama and essentially a continuation of the Bush administration.

Yet you continue to trot out the same idiotic talking points, in defiance of all logic. I blame our educational system.
