Did Edwards let slip that he voted for Barack Obama in the North Carolina primary?
The letters thread is now closed.
  • The time for his endorsement has come and gone

    Still...

Debates about accents and syllables aside, Edwards spent a great part of Friday morning extolling Obama. Edwards also appeared on the Today Show this morning and said of Obama: "What he brings to the table is the capacity, number one, to unite the Democratic Party... Number two, to bring in new voters, to bring in people who haven't been involved in the process over a long time and to get people excited about this change."

Sounds like the closest thing to an endorsement Obama's gonna get from Edwards.

  • I saw the interview on Today No Balls At All

no left one no right one not even a slight one. A self serving tap dance around the issue - what is he waiting for? Afraid of Billary are we? Waiting until its safe to protect our political future are we?

  • Is it just me...

... or is the War Room starting to turn into the place where Salon reposts other sites' articles a few hours after they've gone up elsewhere? We're not baby birds. We really don't need to have our food chewed for us.

And if you're just going to surf the web all day and report on what everyone else is reporting, could you at least rename this thing "Blog Report" and give us Steve Benen back?

  • Who bases their vote on a particular endorsement anyway?

I didn't wait for Richardson to endorse Obama before I made the switch. I made up my own damn mind. So who cares if Edwards endorses or not?

That's not to say that I share the sentiment stated above about the war room. This is a blog. Of course you're going to get info from other sources. Of course you're going to talk about what folks are talking about. I just hope there aren't too many more Drudge references.

  • He's largely insignificant

People that supported him aren't waiting for his endorsement, they've already voted and those few delegates he has won't matter.

I'm not sure what the draw is anymore honestly.

  • Morning David

I love Edwards. I'd vote for him again in a heartbeat. That said, am I the only one who thinks that David Shuster makes a better Morning Joe than Joe Scarsborough? Beside the dumb comment about Chelsea, which garnered WAY more attention than necessary, I think he is a much better news guy on air than the loud, buffoonery of Scarborough.

  • Daily Kos & Huffington Post

are talking about a deluge of emails sent to undecided supers threatening to vote for McCain if they don't support Hillary. From a super:

"I spent my entire life in the two reddest states in the entire U.S. so please excuse me if I fail to discern the nuances of the arguments sent my way this evening in what appears to be an orchestrated campaign to intimidate the remaining unpledged delegates by threatening to leave the party and vote for a third Bush term if I and others like me don't vote for Sen. Clinton," wrote the exasperated superdelegate. "I have been uncommitted throughout this campaign because I wanted to see how the candidates performed in a variety of settings. I am proud of them both. But I am horrified by this effort to threaten votes for McCain if super delegates don't vote for Sen. Clinton. I have received hundreds of emails from both sides - but I can say without exception that I have not received a single email from an Obama supporter that threatened a vote for McCain if I didn't support Sen. Obama. You really ought to be ashamed."

Let's see something in the war room about this!

  • He' s not a super delegate

I don' think Edward is a super delegate. So he is right His endorsement means nothing. Now Al Gore would be an endorsement.

  • Only super delegates mater now

Obama only needs 33 pledged delegates, and a total of 163 delegates to secure the nomination. On May 20 he will have more than the 33 pledged delegates needed. So only needs 130 more super delegates. So he He needs to be getting about 12 super delegates per day up until May 20th. Unless they are waiting to then or for Hillary to concede gracefully.

  • DNC may listen

I'll tell you why the DNC is not raising much money right now. Every time in the last 4 months they sent me a fund raising question letter. I have set it back with NO money and written in the "comments" section.

" I will not donate any money to the DNC unless Obama is the candidate. I may even consider sitting out this election if the Super delgates override the will of the voters and give this nomination to Hillary."

I know many other previous DNC donors in my area who have done the same. Hillary may be playing up the working class card, but the DNC knows they need the "elites" money. Don't piss up off.

  • more importantly, did mccain vote for bush in 2000, 2004?

would be nice to see the paved-over sore between mccain and bush ripped open once again. truly, they deserve each other.

  • Edwards' delegates...

What's happening to the delegates Edwards has won?

  • Is it too late to elect John Edwards?

He seems awfully likable in this interview, and he's a lucid and engaging speaker. Let's blow off Clinton and Obama and bring him back. That will end all this racism/sexism junk! Yeah!

Anyway.... I am glad to see the woman in blue (what's her name) is still on this program. If I remember correctly, she's the one who refused to read a story about Paris Hilton getting out of jail, and then pulled out a lighter and burned the producer's notes on the story right on the air.

Holy crap! I want to see a story on this! Who organized this effort? What a bunch of creeps!
