Clinton math

Hillary Clinton's campaign is now arguing for a different count of the total number of Democratic delegates.

The letters thread is now closed.

We don't like the rules.

So we're going to just follow a different set of rules until everyone else hops on board the bandwagon.

So in essence, they're making their own reality. Funny, I seem to remember a press guy for another president insisting that they make their own reality...I just can't grasp the name. He's a pretty recent president. I think his disapprovals may have been the highest in modern US history. I think he might still be in office.

Making your own reality is great. Until the real one comes banging on your door in a flag draped coffin. We see how well it worked out for the last 8 years. So why not 8 more?

If i were a Floridian or Michigander, i'd find some way to oust the Democratic leadership

...for their idiotic flouting of the rules set down before any primaries were held.

But those were the rules. They knew them. They broke them -- with impunity -- and they have to live by them.

I would be mighty pissed off.

I hear he needs 30,000

I actually thought that the benchmark had FL and MI still "baked in", so this is a surprise.

Funny, having just done the math on IN and NC they now change the rules yet again.

Someone here said it best - "if you are going to steal it, then just steal it". Agreed, the party need to stop wasting my time if they just want Hillary to be the nominee.

I would have far more respect for Dean, Pelosi, and Reid if they's just get up and make the call. Having this sham of a vote is useless and insulting if they already know what they want to do.

At least we'd, as voters, know where we stood. We don't matter, I got ya. Now stop sending me 5 letters a day begging me to donate to the DNC.

Put the goal posts....

in the back of a pickup and drive them around, Hillary.

I find myself nearly speechless. A miracle - my wife would say - that I have to attribute to the Clinton campaign.

mdschill

With impunity? No. Their delegates are not seated. That's their punishment. So there's "punity".

Tuesday, May 6, 2008 11:42 AM

If you look at the remaining delegates and Super Delegates

He seemed on pace for 2,034 minimum, so this makes total sense for them to do now.

Question - will America and the MSM buy into it?

And how many payments of $30 will it take?

Stay tuned.

It's so incredibly disingenuous

How desperate can you be?

Make no mistake, folks, Hillary has tricks up her sleeve, and she has friends in high places. Will she sacrifice everything our party holds dear to win the nomination? Yes. Will I vote for her if she does? Ugh, yes, dammit YES. But I will spit on her if I ever get the chance.

Just Drop Out Already

It is a mystery to me why Hillary is even still in this thing. Of course, she would like to allow Florida and Michigan's votes to count, but because they did not follow the rules, they are unable. Is it a good sign of a future President to ignore the rules. We had a President ignore the rules for eight years and look where it got us. Hillary has lost and she is grasping for anything to get people to believe different.

Just step aside already and let Obama take his place as the nominee.

Tuesday, May 6, 2008 11:45 AM

Another strategy

Different count strategies are for those who most lack, and who run campaigns, where the counters are smokin' crack.

Tuesday, May 6, 2008 11:45 AM

I SUPPORT A REVOTE IN MI AND FL

And it should be paid for out of pocket by the douchebag party leaders in MI and FL who insisted on changing the primary dates. Anyone who supported it or voted for it must pay up.

@ ReganaD

Sorry, fair enough. I got caught up in my fast typing. What i was trying to convey was how flagrantly the rules were flouted.

Hillary Clinton: The Liar Figures!

HRC's ever-changing rules, definitions and rationales are so transparently dishonest one cannot help but remember her husband's worst moments...

- the definition of "is"

- the definition of "sexual relations"

- the definition of "did not"

Her family tortures the English language for sport, so it's not surprising they're re-creating arithmetic too, and embracing every possible jot and tiddle to redefine the race in her favor.

With or without Florida, HRC is behind in votes, behind in delegates, and behind in states won. This is the definition of a "loser" for most people, but her dishonest campaign keeps flogging every horse-corpse they can find to keep us from recognizing the reality of her situation.

As for Michigan, lets get real: People voted, but there was no election there. Sorry Hill. Only Soviet candidates could call that farce legitimate, given that the leading candidates at the time weren't on the ballot, and only Hillary was there for consideration. So give it up.

Don't get me wrong: I support an evenly split VOTING delegation from Michigan at the convention, for the sake of the party and the country. I'm happy to accept Florida's results too. But that doesn't change the math: Barring a total Obama collapse in all remaining contests, Hillary's campaign will end this evening when she loses NC.

It's time to start healing, not for inventing a new math. Once the Team Billary absorbs their latest defeat at the polls, they need to take Carville's advice and start wrapping things up. Sure, campaigning through the remaining states as hard as she can is cool... but it's time for both candidates to turn their attention to the real problem, McCain and Bush!

While Hillary's campaign has adopted all of the conventional Republican tactics, ideas and policies, and done better with them, she needs to pick a team as well. If she's truly hot to pander and slime her way to the top, McCain/Clinton could be the new Dream Ticket, and Democrats can move on to more useful conversations.

I loathe that woman

and I may end up voting for her.

In her own way she is as bad as George Bush.

Tuesday, May 6, 2008 11:59 AM

flaming pants suit

Liar, liar, liar. she's a stalinist: those who vote don't count; those who count the votes count. Under those flaming knickers, she's a Bush in drag.

Hillary Scores

You have to see this brilliant RJ Matson editorial cartoon that talks about just this tendency to want to reframe how success is defined...
