  • Vice President Hillary Clinton

If the Indiana results and exit polls prove anything, its that Obama probably needs Hillary as his running mate to ensure a victory this fall. How 'bout it, Clintonites? Will that do it for you? Because Obama is almost certain to be the nominee. He'll win the largest remaining state, Oregon, comfortably, and that will be the game as far as the superdelegates are concerned.

Seriously, if Hillary is the VP candidate, will that be enough to bring Clinton supporters on board? Because it looks like he'll need you.

  • Republican Role

I just heard on MSNBC that there were 11% Republicans in the electorate with a larger share casting votes to Clinton than Obama. Interesting to see how this plays out. I personally don't look at people who will NOT vote Democrat in the fall as a sign of legitimacy, towards either candidate.

  • YESSSSSSSS!!!

Okay, so the heading was a little sophomoric. But it just felt so good.

  • oh snap!

Donna Brazile just totally pwned that Republican pundit Alex Somebody who tried to say "Will Obama put Ayers and Wright in his cabinet?"

    how sweet that is!

  • Poopy!

I guess that answers my question about late polling hours in Lake County.

CBS leading the way in calling state, huh?

  • @ Slider

Clinton would have to want to be vice president, wouldn't she? Obama would have to want her. We don't know for sure if she would accept that. As far as I can figure out, she wants to be president.

Would you vote the ticket if Obama became her vice presidential running mate?

I have noted that many Obama supporters have said that there is no way they would vote the ticket if Hillary were on it and I read many Clinton supporters say that the would not vote the ticket if Obama were on it.

At some point, I suspect that there will be a sort of shotgun marriage.

  • OT to debaser

Did you see her flirting with Colbert last week?

Oh my goodness- just hillarious. She is so awesome.

  • CeliaInSF

Yeah I did...I love that lady, she's one brassy woman in the bestest sense of the word :)

I quite enjoyed her metaphor of the Democratic Party - it's "a whole lotta potatoes with gravy, and we're the gravy"

    cheers!

  • No VP Clinton

She won't accept it. Just my thoughts on her, too strong a personality. And I mean that as a compliment.

What we need to do is select a VP that has her stamp of approval. One that addresses the demographics and geographics where she is strong. Maybe from Middle America or the Rust Belt.

Really, this is best for everyone. There are no lack of high profile Clinton endorsers throught such states.

    Any ideas?

  • And I would say the same of Obama

He would not be Clinton's VP. Come to think of it, did anyone sense that Harold Ford may have been a bit down tonight? Would have made a great VP choice for Hill to heal the wounds with the African Amewrican community.

  • Re: HP

Well I've always liked the idea of having Katherine Sibelius from Kansas in the VP slot. Like Clinton, she's a strong women with support in the midwest. She won a resounding reelection running on a fairly liberal platform in a red state. Frankly it seems to me that if anyone were to be the first women president, it would be someone like her who can't as easily be smeared as the angry coastal, liberal feminist.

Assuming Clinton refuses the VP slot, she might be willing to sign on for this, and her hardcore supporters might come back into the fold.

Having said that, Sibelius did endorse Obama, so it may be better to get someone from Clinton's dwindling camp.

  • @aka smith

It definitely would be a shotgun marriage, and I'm not sure if Hillary would take the VP, nor would I blame her if she didn't. And having an ex-President spouse kind of makes it complicated. On one hand, it would be great to have him as a kind of roving ambassador, given his international popularity, but (and I say this with love), I'm a little afraid of what other roving he might do. Its uncharted territory.

My guess is that if Obama wins, he'll pick Bob Graham from Florida. Its kind of a no-brainer. White, southern, foreign policy and national security credentials, and, mostly, he's from Florida. Hillary has a lot more options. Well, more southern white male options. Its a reality, you gotta have the southern white guy on the ticket. Although I think Clinton-Obama would negate that, with huge African-American turnout and increased voter registration. As much as its hard for me to admit, my guess is that Hillary has picked up some real support among white males, and not just because of Limbaugh.

And, yes, I would vote for a Clinton-Obama ticket, too. I had a momentary brain cramp a month or so ago and said I'd vote for McCain, but realized that would be stupid. Although I've taken more than a few shots at Hillary, I do admit. I'm gonna try and stop, or at least do so with good humor I'm just exhausted at this point, whatever happens, happens.

I don't think Hillary and Barack like each other at all. But as others have pointed out elsewhere, LBJ and JFK didn't much care for each other, and half of Lincoln's cabinet thought he was an idiot (at first).

  • So what happens now?

Hillary identifies with the working class/LMFAO vs. Obama who hasn't been vetted and he's an elitist although technically thats impossible he is black? Like I said, I'll vote for Hillary even though I despise her, can this just end so John McCain can be president? Everybody knows that the Republicans (whom the Democrats support via Congress) are doing a bang-up job! Time to start practicing my French again.. Quebec, are you still an open door territory?

  • Bitter Victory for Clinton

When you compare it to North Carolina, victory's sweet for Obama, and it couldn't be finer.

  • If Clinton is the nominee she doesn't NEED him.

The fact is Obama brings her nuthin. Tonight proves it. So Obama brings black voters and some latte liberals, both famously unreliable and fickle in that order.

Better to focus on rural whites and growing hispanic bases.

If Obama wins the primary we lose. As demonstrated tonight he can't get past people voting for him because of his skin color which limits him to nationalistic blacks and latte liberals.
