I have yet to see anything that suggests the magnitude of this problem is significant ...
ohmygod, white wimmens registering minorities ... I guess only minorities are allowed to do that? or what? ohmygod, they used an African-American male actor?
yes, outrageous .. how dare they?
I did not exonerate them ... I merely tried to answer my original question as to "how does confusing these voters and discouraging SOME of these voters help Clinton?"
I also said there were more questions.
There was nothing to stop anyone "confused" from calling to verify their registration status... I gather most people were not confused, just pissed off.
I recall the ChoicePoint rosters of ineligible voters were massively flawed ... I don't know who makes up these lists or if/how they are checked for accuracy ...
Yes, the robocalls broke rules and quite possibly laws.
As far as I can tell, that's separate from "voter suppression" unless you have already decided that these folks are already guilty of both bad practices and evil intent. As you apparently have already done.
As has been mentioned, there are Obama supporters on the board of WVWV ...

You also may be interested in knowing that the NC NAACP just formally filed charges of voter suppression against WVWV.
No, the problem is not "white wimmens registering minorities" the problem is a pattern of giving misleading or false information to a targeted community. No one yet has seen them also giving out bad information to the women that they also target.
They also have been told in several states that what they were doing was illegal, and they apologized, said they wouldn't do it again, then did it again. That is a pattern of behavior.
Yes, there is someone on the board who is an Obama supporter, and there are ten people that are Hillary supporters. No one in the group has yet given the impression that they knew what was going on, so (as GWB would say) it may just be a few bad apples. But it certainly should be looked into.

BIG DEAL
Is that all the Obama campaign has? Tough.
-
yes, it should be looked into and while the statistic are not complex they will take some time.
Nonaccidental error needs to ruled out ... We're talking about felonies ...
IMHO, it's significant the HuffPo is not headlining this issue ... I didn't even find it on the front page ...
I am not surprised that "there are complaints in all the state WVWV are operating in" ... we have telephones and e-mail these days ...
This campaign is so heated and charges of racism so frequent there is, imho, a real "get on board" effect ... the objective truth of these charges will probably not be available before the primary ... but the smear is priceless.
The last time the Obama campaign cried "voter suppression" that I am aware of was in Las Vegas ... THAT, imho, was an utter bullshit race-baiting accusation (asking a judge to review logistical advantage... a request that was DENIED ... in reality constitutes neither voter suppression or attempted voter suppression. The judge was entirely correct in refusing to entertain the motion. I suspect that in 4 or 8 years the teacher's unions concerns will be considered when the logistics for those caucuses are developed. Nothing untoward or evil, just representating the interests of your constituency ... Was it blatant policiking? Probably. Is that illegal or wrong? Not hardly. If the judge had prejudically thrown a spanner in the works ... that didn't happen, remember? )
The wrongdoings by WVWV will take time to evaluate ... that will stop noone from blaming Hillary Clinton NOW.
-
oops, make that "accidental error needs to be ruled out" ....
statistically, I think intentional "error" should be pretty easy to prove ... (again the broken rules regarding robocalls will attain a different significance if intentional "error" or "confusion" can be shown).
Robocalls, I gather are NOT in and of themselves illegal ... there are rules/requirements to be followed that were not followed ...
Deceptive calls, robocalls or in person, fall under other penalties ...
It is possible, for instance, that idiot "overly enthusiastic" partisan workers did something stupid ... so chains of command and responsibility and reasonal expectations regarding oversight, etc. (endlessly) factor here ... but again, reasonable and customary standards probably already exist.
I work in healthcare ... much of the details of this falls under malpractice-like standards, imho.
I suspect (and hope) it's a strawman ... but I will not say that these charges are not worthy of thorough investigation and, if crimes found, prosecution to the full extent of the law ... the people who are and will exploit the accusation ... well, they'll get away with it.
Since this has blown up BEFORE the actual vote, hopefully this attempted "voter suppression" has been averted ... sigh.

Suppression in North Carolina
The article concludes that there was intent to suppress in North Carolina. That might be true if this were the only place this had been done by this group. In fact, it is not and they have been warned against this behavior in other primary states.
