  • Obama thinks it should be illegal to criticize him

Most of the complaint was legal boiler plate and facts based on news reports and blogs.

The most specific thing I found was "In one advertisement, for example, ALP lauded Clinton's health care plan, and attacked that of Obama, before urging viewers to 'call Barack Obama'."

But if 527s are allowed to engage in issue advocacy (whatever that means), it seems like such a large loophole as to be make the rule meaningless.

In any case, the ALP doesn't seem terribly concerned, see http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/04/prohillary_527_spokesman_on_fe.php

  • This whole system is loop hole filled

    From Talk Left

"On a related note, Move-On tomorrow will launch an ad against McCain.

The 30-second ad, funded by the group’s donors and its political action committee, marks the start of the liberal advocacy group’s million dollar, month-long ad campaign aimed at the Arizona senator.

MoveOn will spend $160,000 to air the new ad — titled “Candles” — on cable as well as on broadcast networks in Iowa and New Mexico, where the McCain campaign is currently on the air without competition from either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama."

  • Bitching and Moaning

My God! When will the Obamatons quit their bitching and moaning? Do you or your candidate not expect to be challenged?

You are not gods, even if you seem to think you are. Run to the courts with every little thing, will you! Who will your candidate b&m to when challenged by our enemies if he becomes president? Think on that! Sheesh!

  • A pattern of abuse

Usually I'm not a big fan of comments that go off-topic, but I think it's also worth mentioning that "Women's Voices Women Vote," a DC-based non-profit organization whose president and founding members have contributed heavily to the Clinton campaign, have been making illegal robo-calls full of false voter information to North Carolina voters. They've also engaged in a pattern of voter disinformation in Arizona, Wisconsin, Michigan, Florida, and Arkansas and at least half a dozen other states. Oh, and did I mention that one of their board members is Bill Clinton's former chief of staff?

Facingsouth.com has an excellent write-up on the organization here:

    http://southernstudies.org/facingsouth/2008/04/facing-south-exclusive-dc-nonprofit.asp

I look forward to seeing a piece on this in the War Room soon, and I hope that we get a feature article on the pattern of election law abuses that pro-Clinton groups have established over the last month or two as they've dragged this campaign directly into the gutter. I realize that this might conflict with Salon's upcoming five-part series on eight-year old Barack Obama's ties to the Weather Underground and the Manson Family, but I can't think of a single legitimate reason why Salon wouldn't at least make the attempt to cover this in detail and see if there's any truth to the allegations.

  • @Hepstyle - Who's changing the rules?

If the Dems would follow the rules put in place for Florida, Hillary would get half of her delegates and Obama would get none.

Now why on earth would Howard Dean want to change the rules in the middle of game!!?? (BTW, that was sarcasm).

    Where's the outrage Obama supporters?

  • @Bryan

    You beat me to it.

The WVWV story is getting pretty heavy play elsewhere (DK & TPM), but all I here in War Room is the crickets chirping. TPM even has an employee of of WVWV (named Sarah, interestingly enough) chiming in in the comments section doing her level best to defend her organization.

C'mon Alex, better late than never, or do you want to stay scooped. I'm willing to bet that the Clinton connection to the group may be a bit overhyped, but there's at least enough of one to bear some looking into.

  • @ cwnidog

Yeah, how sad is it that Salon's letter writers are now breaking stories on the site? You have to wonder if that's because the staff is holding back on stories that don't support their chosen candidate, or if it's because they're focusing all of their efforts on only researching stuff that's unfavorable to Obama.

And I wouldn't say that the Clinton connection is overhyped. Even if there's no provable coordination between WVWV and the campaign, it's obvious from their campaign contributions and their board members' résumés which horse they're backing. Not to mention the fact that their efforts are clearly designed to discourage voters in socioeconomic groups friendly to Obama from going to the polls.

This group didn't just start doing this last week. They've been pulling this crap in about a dozen states during this campaign, so there's been plenty of time for Hillary to reject AND denounce their efforts on her behalf.

  • Clinton leadership?

Ha! Clinton excels at followership. What kind of leadership did it take to vote for the war? She didn't even lead to end the war, Murtha did (and she opposed him). Leadership, my ass. Show me one (just one) example where she took the lead on anything.

  • CLINTON DISPLAYS HER PASTOR'S TRAITS

    READERS

I just watched Clinton's Media, roast Senator Obama with another episode of "Pastor Wright". Yet I have not heard or seen one word about Pastor William Procanick. Pastor Procanick is Hillary Clinton's lieing, child molesting,Felonous Pastor.

He is currently serving Three years in prison for molestation of a seven(7) year old girl. He lied in court.

Hillary Clinton and the Media has created a campaign based upon Lies. Her and Bill's approval to allow the Media to initiate the Pastor Wright scam was sinister in it's inception. A direct trait learned from Pastor Procanick. Now the ALP Group is formed solely to promote Hillary Clinton, the Republican strategy all over again.

The Clinton's sole purpose is to divert the Vote from Barack Obama and New Inovative Generational Change in America and the World, to retain the same tired old Bush/Chaney Idea. Hillary and her status quo buds, the Media, will only put a new face on the same Ideal.

Democrats,I thought you were wiser this time around. Barak Obama is your only chance to Change anything in this Country. Support him and his complaint, for it is justly filed.

  • Obama's complains too much

POOOOOOOOR Obama... everyone always picks on him ..he entered presidential race with only ONE MANTRA ..HATE AGAINST HILLARY'S WAR VOTE and people blinded by his narcissistic charm... failed to realize how much more Hillary has worked for 5 years to end the war.

Obama's anti-war claim was about as powerful as mine...

I was at 1000 person anti-war rally in Feb 03 and put on my back and 300 others this sign SAVE AMERICA IMPEACH BUSH...

I have dropped all my subscriptions to MOVE-ON OTHER 527's who back Obama and use their sign stricty for ANTI-CLINTON actions. Obama is not vetted and is backed by backdoor big money worse than Cheney... He is the new GW Bush... sweet talk ..whining... and not much vetting ...and just like Bush when a 527 for Clinton tries to Vet him OBAMA'S PUPETEERS... STOP THEM JUST LIKE THE BUSHCO Operatives did with W's DUI.
