cythera45 - (yawn.)
reunionpi - hmmmm. This is his first letter. A plant, you think? Noooooo! And why do I care about an income tax lien against Reverend Wright? Is he running for president?

Picko
yawn. fart.
-
Huh?
I don't know Alex, when did you start becoming a shitty reporter?
Because this is relevant how?
-
cythera45
I hope you're amusing yourself, at least.
-
News flash
People who eventually run for president are often ambitious, infected with more than your average amount of hubris, and occasionally plan ahead, even for several years.
Wow.

You guys need to get out learn how to go ....exploring...????
Remember you guys used to do that to find...new?? Or hints of a possible... story??
HOW ABOUT YOU AND POLITICO FILLING UP MY MAILBOX WITH REAL NEWS INSTEAD OF SH**?
Hey, here's a breaking news story for you:
OVER 100 EUROPEAN NATIONS ARE TRYING TO ENACT A NEW CLUSTER MUNITIONS TREATY! BUT THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION ARE SECRETLY THREATENING RETALIATION TO ALL THOSE WHO PARTICIPATE.
>
This is a worldwide effort to finally ban the cluster bombing of innocent civilians. Heard about that?? Of course you have. But just don't want to report the story. Why??
Hillary supports the use of cluster bombs, just like Bush and McCain do.
Because Hillary Clinton did something quite viscious: joined with all of the Republicans to defeat a similar effort in the Senate. Senator Feinstein, Obama and the majority of the Democratic Party introduced the legislation.
Hillary crosssed the aisle to defeat her own party - to support the cluster bombing of innocents.
That's who your local MSM supports, and defends.
After his speech in 2004 and after his books I thought he would be a greqaty candidate
-
Yes, and more alarmingly...
I have it on good word that Obama actually wants to be President.
-
Obama started running for President....
Obama started running for President the first day he stepped into the church of Reverend Wright.

Yawn
And Double Yawn

One big problem: if Clinton wins, she's an unpopular one-termer as she fails to do anything more than incremental as our nation slides to hell. Then Obama runs in 2016 as the guy who was VP a while ago in that shitty administration.
Because I expect the economic shitstorm that's coming to be bigger than the MSM makes out, I'm wondering if the best thing that could happen is that Clinton somehow gets the SDs to overturn the will of the people and then loses badly to McCain, who dies in his first year to let Guiliani or Romney play out a disastrous presidency. Then a real progressive can run in 2012 without getting the blame for what's to come (with the nation finally recognizing that it has to take back its government from the thieves in both parties who sold it down the river -- though god knows why it hasn't figured this out yet).
Of course the big problem is the Supreme Court. And, sad to say, I don't expect Clinton (or maybe even Obama) to appoint justices as decent as the GOP's ones were radical; I expect them to "compromise" with corporate whores who support extra-constitutional governmental powers but who are pro-choice.
And yes, I know Clinton would probably be better than McCain outside of the Court, but only incrementally. Bill Clinton sailed in Bush's direction, he just did so more slowly and with better speeches (remember: preemptive military strikes; welfare "reform"; bigger war on drugs -- aka war on minorities; more prisons; more deregulation; and no big education or healthcare initiatives). And I, for one, am sick and tired of simply voting to retard the process of killing America.

This matters because
The only thing to recommend Obama early in the game was, gasp, HE WAS A NEW KIND OF POLITICIAN! Actually, not really a politician at all, but more on the order of a man who would deliver us from all previous sins and mend our wicked ways (as he interpreted them, of course). Well, okay, that one's been buried once and for all. So just what the hell DOES this guy have to recommend him, other than a death grip on some shaky numbers? Speak up, Odrama fans. The meter is running.

My kingdom (if I had one)
for someone to moderate these letter sections. 'Nuff said, you whiners.

Uncle Wright explained Obama
Obama is a politician who will say what needs to be said to get votes. The only people that have been hoodwinked are Obama's disciples. Supporters know that politicians will throw their spiritual leaders under the bus if it's expedient, but disciples drink the kool-aid and blame others for their guru's shortcomings.

@ KateTex
Yes, the only standard by which a "new politician" can be judged is whether or not s/he ever planned to run for office. That's infallible logic.
And for the umpteenth time (to be ignored, to be sure), Obama supporters are not in some cult. For many of us it comes down to the three choices we have: a right-wing nut bag; an insider who has proven herself untrustworthy and beatable; and a guy who says some good things now and then who just might change a few things. For me, that's how it looks. I can list Obama's flaws as well as Salon (in fact, better -- I'd focus on his political career and sell-outs, not gotcha "he-knows-radicals" bullshit). It's a choice, not a religion.

Davenport TV Stations Reach Moline and Rock Island, Illinois as Well
For what it's worth, the televsion stations in Davenport, Iowa also serve Illinois across the river, reaching audiences in Rock Island and Moline. It's not too surprising that Obama would put in an appearance in Davenport in order to be seen in Rock Island and Moline. Especially if that appearance, otherwise undescribed, was an interview in the studio by the station's political reporters.
In similar situations, candidates in New Jersey, which is short of television stations, take out advertising on New York and Philadelphia stations, and if invited to an in-studio interview, cross the Hudson or the Delaware without a second thought. They may even seek out those interviews, without waiting for an invitation.

Don't Have to Go Back Four Years for Hillary BS
Salon, searching for anything, anything to wound Barack Obama. Readers complain? Double down, and find even more b.s secondary stories.
Still waiting for someone comment on Hillary deciding to run for to the right of Likud in order to pander to Jewish votes by threatening to obliterate an entire Muslim nation. Or, to do anything to balance your coverage. Oh, thats right, you're already balancing things for us . . .
I mean, my god, read your own description. "one" reporter pieces together "some clues" and "suggests" the candidate "may" have made first moves . . .
When you have to qualify it like that, you shouldn't be running it. Unless you have an agenda.
Slider's decided not to go away. I' m calling you all out from now until you start playing fair.
