  • AMEN!

I've said it before here. If you're a superdelegate from a state who has already held their primary or caucus, there are no reasons for you to not have pledged that aren't purely selfish. It's time to suck it up and fulfil your responsibilities as supers. Sometimes I agree with republicans that Democrats have no spines.

  • "No one is winning"?

That statement is actually not true. But that rhetoric makes me think this guy is pro-Clinton but is afraid to say so.

I am not sick of this contest, in the abstract. I sympathize with voters who can't even believe they are getting a say in the primary, and are excited about it. That's all wonderful. The thing I am sick of, weary of, fatigued by, and despondent about is the constant re-framing of the contest, the re-drawing of the lines before, during and after each candidate so much as sneezes. Sneezegate! Will it bring down Hillary's numbers by a tenth of a point among Episcopal nuns over 76?

The other thing that is reeeeeeally getting under my fingernails is the Clinton campaign constantly talking about how great the process is and how everyone needs to vote and then out of the OTHER side of its mouth trying to change the rules. We need to hear all the voters' voices! (But the rules aren't really fair, so we're trying to sway already-pledged delegates to our side too.) The delegate count is what really counts! Um, I mean, the popular vote is what really counts! Darn - well, matchups against McCain are what count - and only in the two states I personally designate as relevant! Oh, I mean, my ability to convince you that the rules are unfair is what really counts!

While I was pretty evenly split about the two of them even on the day I voted for Obama, I have become totally cynical about and sick of Clinton and her campaign. And even more cynical about people like Shapiro, whom I also used to respect, using her talking points as headlines with a completely straight face.

So, yeah. Let the voters keep voting! But leave them the hell alone while they do it. Sheesh.

  • It's All About

Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. On that basis the choice is clear--Hillary.

  • I think

That it's becoming painfully clear that both Gore and Edwards need to man up and make their choices already.

At this point I don't care who they break for, just break already.

I suspect that this thing will be settled in 13 days...by the time we hit West Virginia the supers will make their choices known.

  • Wes

And that's why your predictions are always wrong, you never see the bigger picture, instead focusing on the little parts that match the conclusion you've already drawn.

  • So our next President will be chosen by unelected unaccountable 'super' people

    Gee that's nice to know.

  • Lynx

Obama peaked in a bunch of mickey mouse caucuses a couple months ago. Don't get mad at me.

  • Super or Supreme?

    Electro Robot,

Hell, last time it was settled by a group of unelected Supreme people.

  • Hi Wes!

Buckwheat, as you like to call him, still leads in delegates, the popular vote, and states won. You can marginalize anyone who doesn't vote for Clinton, but you can't change the facts. Hillary could win every state left 56%-44% and still Obama breaks the 2025 needed to win. Furthermore, NC is the last state with over 100 delegates. With any luck, we end this mess on May 6. Buckwheat 08!

  • They want the position but not the responsibility

The supers make me super sick.

They have enjoyed party privileges and status and have not had to display any leadership ever. Until now. And they are all a bunch of chicken shits.

Listen, I am an Obama support but if they think Hillary is more electable, fine. so say it already. If they think he has a better chance, they get it done already.

I think they are waiting waiting hoping someone will screw up so badly that it will take the heat off of them...and that's not very likely from either camp.

    What wusses.

After this election, we dems need to revamp this whole shit.

  • football analogy

    c'mon wes,

that's like saying the Colts started the season 10-2, stumbled down the stretch going 1-3, and because of that their division leading record of 11-5 means they shouldn't win the division, even though the 2nd place Jaguars finished up 9-7.

poppycock my friend, and you know it.

  • Speaking of superdelegates

. . . Obama picked up another one last night: Oklahoma Gov. Brad Henry.

  • Obama's Speech

Last night had the tired, used-up flavor. Once you take away that dynamic, what is left?

  • what this needs to be is

the rest of the contests need to be a race for the TOP of the ticket. Period. The supers need to get with Obama and Hillary and put some serious pressure on them to reconcile by suggesting that whomever they opt for it would be conditioned upon the *loser* getting the VP slot.

Any argument that either candidate could win nationally without the great majority of other's core constituency is foolish.

If the supers had any balls this is what they'd be doing.

And the rest of the race could go on.

  • Wes

I'm not mad at you, I'm saying you're always wrong and pointing out why. There's a difference.

  • If Obama Is The Nominee

We are conceding Florida. On that basis alone the supers should pick Hillary.

  • Wes

You think Florida is a lock for Hillary? Or you're looking forward to saying "Well, we lost the election, but at least we won Florida!"

And you're wrong that with Obama as the nominee, Florida is automatically won by McCain.
