Letters to the Editor

White House claims about alleged terrorist plot appears to have been wildly exaggerated.
  • The only surprising thing...

... is that there is not an outright acquittal. The governments squealings from the beginning never matched the reality of who these people were and what they were doing.

I am waiting for Cheney to proclaim, "No matter how many mis-trials it takes; 2, 10 or a hundred, we will do what it takes to keep America safe."

But thats the problem with fear of terrorism, the "but what if I am wrong" phobia sets in and leads to half-baked ideas like the Iraq invasion, patriot act, Guantanamo, and all the other stupid post 9/11 decisions. Apparently, it's better to err on the side of having senseless bloody wars, curtailing civil liberties, torturing, ignoring the Constitution, losing the nations moral compass and stupidly hemorrhaging money than to risk somebody maybe blowing-up a Walmart.

Of all the things that could unexpectedly kill me and do unexpectedly kill Americans everyday, terrorism is not one of them.
