I haven't posted in War Room today
But I've been reading, and I gotta say that Benens posts have been very good.
-
@bignose
Agreed. There is a palpable increase in the substance of War Room posts today.

If Only . . .
America has a heated political debate, but liberals and conservatives aren't shooting mortars at each other and we don't have pitched battles in the streets.
Puh-leeze. As if any "conservative" politicians would know how to shoot a mortar. The only thing they're consistently good at is dodging military service, with their anal cysts and such.

War Room is back!
Nothing personal against Alex but War Room has been really good since he has been out. Much more relevant stories. Can Steve stay on?
-
Lieberman is such an ignorant lackey
That I can't believe McCain hasn't already picked him as a running mate. What the hell was Al Gore thinking?
-
Go ahead and laugh at him now.
But he would have been Gore's Cheney had things turned out different in 2000.
-
Where are Lieberman's true interests?
Lieberman continues his questionable interpretations of this debacle. For the life of me, I can't fathom why he escapes real scrutiny by the press in general. Methinks his intentions are less than honorable, as far as the American people are concerned.
-
I don't get it!
How is it the press isn't just ripping Lieberman and McCain to shreds? If Hillary or Oback were saying this kind of stupid stuff, they'd be mincemeat by now. Is the press so focused on the trivia of the Democratic campaign that they can't BOTHER with the stuff going on on the other side?
And, by the way, I agree about the posts. Good job, Steve!

I'm Confused
Last year we couldn't leave because things were going so badly for the Iraqis, this year we can't leave because things are going so well.
Obviously we need to get to a position where things just moderately suck, then we can get our people out. That much I understand.
The part that confuses me is this; if we're waiting for a stable government where conditions are just moderately awful, just why did we depose Saddam Hussein and kill tens of thousands of people and spend hundreds of billions of dollars in the process?

Hear, hear
I've been very pleased with the quality and quantity of War Room postings this week, and I'm not saying that just because you haven't posted anything that makes Obama look bad. :)
It's a real delight to see short but insightful analytical articles appearing almost hourly, and nary a cut-and-pasted press release in the bunch. I'm also glad to see the War Room's considerable potential being used to launch broadsides against Republicans and Joe Lieberman (if I'm not being redundant there).
-
Facts just won't do..
what Joe Lieberman wants them too. Joe = part of the problem (high level enemy combatant).
-
Embarrassment Envelope?
Steve, what "embarrassment envelope" is Lieberman pushing? Because, honestly, I don't think he has one. The man is incapable of embarrassment. I doubt that he can even understand the concept of embarrassment. That's the only possible explanation for his continuing ability to address the subject of Iraq in public, since virtually everything he has ever said about Iraq has been proved wrong. Disastrously, heartrendingly wrong. If he were capable of experiencing embarrassment (or understanding personal honor, which is another matter), he'd have quietly returned to private life sometime in 2004.
-
A New way to Spell Ass
If there is a bigger asshole in the senate, he better start working on his act. Lieberman is out of control. I'm guessing he knows that there is no chance for re-election so lets take it up a notch. I am sure his Zionist buddies will take care of him after he's run out of DC.
-
in all fairness to Al
rupert_c: Go ahead and laugh at him now. But he would have been Gore's Cheney had things turned out different in 2000.
LIEberman post-Lamont is a significantly different senator than the pre-Lamont version. Prior to his loss in the Democratic primary, Lieberman was a reasonably sufficient moderate voice. But after that loss, he went into scorched earth crazymode.
So to say that LIEberman would've been a Cheney-like figure in the regretably lost Gore administration isn't quite fair -- his ego would have been sufficiently stroked so he quite likely would never have given in to the temptations of the Dark Side.
Oh, and did I mention that Joe is now patently insane?
PS: I too would like to pile on about how much of an improvement today's War Room topics have been. I'm even looking forward to seeing how an Obama-v-Clinton post will go. :-)

"Our" Joe
It really is embarrassing. Just as embarrassing is a recent (March) poll here in the "Land of Steady Habits" that indicated 52% of Connecticut voters (including 39% of Democrats!) approve of how Lieberman is doing his job. Shameful.
And in reply to Rupert, Leiberman would not have been "Gore's Cheney." Gore wouldn't have had a "Cheney" (that is, a devious Machiavellian usuper of power in the VP's office), because Gore is not an idiot, unlike the guy that does have a "Cheney".
-
tsk, tsk
It's a shame to see so much partisan back-slapping on here. I am not a Joe Lieberman fanboy, but Mr Benen's assessment is clearly that of an individual who will selectively, depending on affiliation, take some sort of hyperbolic statement by a politician--intended to make a point through exaggeration--seriously so that he might be able to play the "offensive" or "irresponsible" card. I would love to see his reaction to a similar statement by a real Democrat. When I come to Salon, I prefer to see thoughtful assessment of the news, not side-taking and name-calling. I am not a conservative person, and definitely not a Republican, but I can look to any pseudo-commentator with a blog to hear criticism of cherry-picked mishaps. Let's hear something intellectual here on Salon, please.

tiny hands?
I know this is a post without substance, but good grief -- look at the man's hand at around 1:17. Is there some really wonky perspective at work there, or is his hand smaller than his mouth? Maybe he just has a giant head...?
-
Steve!
Big fan!

Bush, Cheney, Adolph Guiliani and Scumbag Joe
One thing about this post I'm delighted by is its absence of the usual reference to the excerable Lieberman as an "independent Democrat;" indeed, there have been few political events in recent years more gratifying than the deeply patriotic decision by the voters of Connecticut to emphatically and permanently vomit out Scumbag Joe from the Democratic Party. Quite simply, Lieberman - along with Bush, Cheney, and Adolph Guiliani - is the most indescribably loathsome piece of shit even to crawl out of a toilet and mutate legs.
