  • They do not want us to know how rich they are

Alex, you are correct. Not such a big deal, but I wish they were more like us.

  • One word

    InfoUSA.

After years and years of Bush's policy of spying on anyone anytime, I can't see many Democrats being very comfortable with the Clinton's cozy relationship with a company that mines personal data and was caught once selling such data to fraudulent telemarketers!!!

  • Taxes, poverty and the Clintons

Hillary wants to appoint a poverty czar the same day she releases her tax returns. A shout out to John Edwards that she will eradicate poverty in the same manner that her husband ended welfare as we knew it.

  • Friday Afternoon Dump

So, the Klintoonians use the same tired tactic the Bushistas have used: wait to release something important or controversial on a Friday. Today's particularly good because the news is full of the (quite proper) memorializations of that terrible day forty years ago. I remember it vividly; that, and what happened in LA in June was like getting repeatedly kicked in the gut. so, the Bill and Hill show uses the cover of Martin's death, and the dead air in the news over the weekend, hoping most Murkans won't notice how filthy rich they are. Ooops. We noticed. Hypocrites.

  • Gee Whiz, I wonder why they wanted to wait for all of this fun

They said they would release them before April 15th. They did. There are already stories about how much money they made and how can they represent the "little guy" with that kind of dough. You even say in your post that we should all read the returns and let you know if we find anything salacious. I know that you and the Obama camp are running a new and more noble campaign, but this actually is old style attack politics, plain and simple. When you asked for the returns, you had no specific target, or probable cause of some event that you were trying to prove or disprove. You are looking for dirt. I am sure you will find something or will infer that something is there if you can not find it. This is the big leagues and this hardball politics, I guess they are getting smeared by the Obama Political machine. Maybe we will have to wait for the next election for that positive campaign.

I guess your negative attacks are not divisive and don't add to the alienation that might hurt the party in the fall. Only the Clinton camp's attacks do that. Before you do your next attack, remember that the Dem vote that you alienate could be the one needed to put your candidate over the top.

  • cheese whiz, how lame

109 million dollars in seven years. for talking, mostly. Tell us, cubbie, why they release it on a Friday, and how pointing out how insanely rich Bill and Hill are while playing alleged champ to the middle class and poor. Lame. It's not Obama's fault they're venal and deceitful. They've got that covered without our help.

  • Who the hell cares?

Alan Greenspan's advance ranked second only to the more than $10 million paid to former President Bill Clinton for his memoir, "My Life," which was published in June 2004.

Pope John Paul II received an advance of $8.5 million in 1994 for his book, "Crossing the Threshold of Hope."

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton received an $8 million advance for her memoir, "Living History," published in 2003.

  • They are like us

The Clintons had nothing until after they got out of the

White House. He came from poverty and she came from a

middle class family. They took college loans. She worked and supported him for most of his early political life. They know what it is to be like average folks. Even now they could take their money and live a great life and instead she puts herself through this crap to continue serving her country and he runs a Global Initiative to fight AIDs and poverty. Look at how much they give to charity. This author and others on other websites are already looking for dirt because that is what the press does best.

  • How can rich people possibly support the poor

Tom Pain asserts that there is a problem for the Clinton s feeling any kind of empathy for the poor because they made all of that money in the last 7 years. All of those phonies like Ted Kennedy and his brothers Bobbie and John could never relate. Then there was that other rich guy that could not relate FDR. I guess Kerry could not either. Actually Sen Obama has a house he paid over a million for. Are you saying he might be having some difficulty relating. Be careful, your logic might lead you to some heresy.

  • waiting to release the tax forms

They delayed because they didn't want to make the Obama's look bad. The Clinton's tithe, 9.5% to charity. The Obama's gave a maximum of 1% to charity, usually it was much less. Moreover the Clintons paid 33% in taxes, the same rate as the average American. That means they didn't take advantage of the loopholes they could have. In fact they have almost always tithed and refused to use loopholes they were eligible for. In other words, they put their money where their mouths are.

  • Ka-ching!

What are they hiding? 109 million. Burkle. That's much at least is hiding in plain sight.

We finally know what the Clintons mean when they brag that Bill's administration accomplished so much.

    So much for them.

Would like fries with that cabinet post?

  • Dear Lord

Now the Clintons aren't allowed to be rich?

Folks, they paid 1/3 of their income in taxes. The *donated* 10% to charity. They tithed, people! Do you tithe? Most of their economic equals don't (the average charitable donation rom that income bracket, according to the NY Times, is 3%). They don't seem to be taking undue advantage of their status to loop-hole and syphon off gagillions into off shore accounts.

Much of the Clintons' income came from speaking fees and book deals. Some of it came from working with someone shady.

Much of Obama's wealth comes from his books. And when he retires from politics, I expect he'll get huge amounts of money to speak. And, he'sdone some work for a shady character himself.

I wish I were so fortunate, but I don't begrudge the Clintons or the Obamas their money. They earned it.

Now, remind me where Bush got his money? Cheney? Romney? Could you please, please spare a mite of outrage for these stooges, and leave off the Clinton hate-in?
