  • Clinton Releases Tax Documents!

Though she hasn't released 2007 yet, she did release a summary for that year. Assuming they included the least amount of bad stuff as possible, the presence of the following black mark doesn't bode well.

The Clinton's got nearly a half million from InfoUSA:

    And who is InfoUSA?

  • First things first

Hillary needs to worry about not completely losing her lead in Pennsylvania. And maybe she should focus on trying to win Indiana, rather than stealing Obama's thunder in a state that he's widely expected to win anyway.

Plus, coming out and endorsing Hillary is an incredibly risky thing for Edwards to do right now. She's losing the primary and will likely finish with fewer pledged delegates, fewer states won, and fewer popular votes. If he gets on board the Hillary train now, he not only runs the risk of pissing off Obama, he also suffers a tremendous loss of political prestige if he backs a losing horse.

If he doesn't endorse anyone, he stands a decent chance of achieving some of his anti-poverty agenda with either Democrat as president. And while a Hillary endorsement might guarantee her enthusiastic support if she becomes president (a prospect that seems increasingly unlikely), it would also all but guarantee a frosty reception from an Obama administration.

  • so what's up Salon?

Not commenting on Clinton's $109 Million haul in 7 years? are you guys speechless? or have you been told to keep your trap shut?

  • Edwards won't bite

Even if he and Elizabeth are put-off by Obama, backing Hillary is a political deathwish at this point, with Obama by Hillary's campaign estimates, about 90% certain of winning the nomination.

  • @ Reality-based Liberal

We're both pulling for the same candidate, and I share your frustration with Salon's lack of coverage of the Clinton's tax returns, especially since it's been a major story everywhere else today. But if I have to gripe about Hillary's supporters hijacking threads and going off on tangents, I have to give "our side" the same treatment. Let's stick to the topics at hand. Thanks.

  • I don't think we should stick to the topics at hand, since the topics at hand aren't what's in the news everywhere else.

And that, after all, is what most people will want to discuss. If that's not what Salon wants to report, that's their choice.

And the NYT info RBL references is nothing short of horrifying. If we have to not stick to the topics at hand in order to learn this information, then thanks to Salon for providing a reasonably open forum for us in which to do it.

  • Who's gonna be..

Hillary's Czar of the Bizzare? Who would YOU appoint?

  • @ Kansas

And that, after all, is what most people will want to discuss. If that's not what Salon wants to report, that's their choice.

Give them time. You know that Salon's crack investigative team needs to read what every other progressive news site has posted, and then filter out anything that makes Hillary look bad, and then summarize the articles in their own words. I'm sure they'll get around to it by Monday evening, when it's no longer a story.

(Goodness, did I just violate my own no off-topic request? *slaps own wrist*)

  • The fabled tax returns are here

After all that whining and baiting from the Obama camp and his supporters, it must be dissapointing that the Clinton tax returns don't look to be a big deal at all though I'm sure some of you will try and make something out of nothing.

  • Clinton's poverty proposal : a nice serving of cake?

I think this one goes down as one of my favorite Salon spin jobs. The Clintons reveal they are bazillionaires, having turned Bill's presidency in gold many times over, far beyond even the wildest estimates of the press. The same day they reveal a "let them eat cake" cabinet post. Salon's response? Oh, it's about politics with Edwards.

Mr. Koppelman you deserve a beer. Take a shower, shave off that nastiness, and I'll have Paris Hilton pick you up at ten. Bring your video camera.

  • @ KStone

Why do I get the feeling that this will be filed under "Famous Last Words" by the end of next week...?

  • Clinton should be able to eradicate poverty by putting her $109 mill where her mouth is

Screaming, help, HELP, John Edwards. Please endorse ME. So what if Billy Bully and I made over $50 million just talking, talking, talking. We feel the pain of poor people. John, you got a $500 haircut! You understand us, no? You don't wanna be VP? Fine. I'll appoint YOU the poverty czar, while Obama will only offer Gore a cabinet position. Not an Environmental CZAR mind you. He does not like royal titles.

He is so unelectable because he has so many "followers" who will dump him the minute they find Jesus and join the real Family. Besides, he does not stay up all night like I do. I pick up the phone at 3a.m. on the first ring. I am ready to be CinC on the first ring and save our children from all those scary night prowlers.

Endorse me John John Edwards. Oh please John Edwards. See how fast I will eradicate poverty from our land, like you know, Bull Bill did by ending welfare as we knew it.

  • Reagan's Drug Czar

Clinton's Poverty Czar will end poverty just like Reagan's Drug Czar ended the presence of drugs in our country.

Some people will think it is merely a political ploy, but I cannot wait until Clinton is elected President. By 2012, poverty in this country will be ended. I'm switching back to Hillary. What was I thinking?

  • @BryanS

I don't know why you get that wishful feeling but if you want to continue to engage in it go right ahead.

  • did anyone think how funny it is to put poverty and czar together?

I have a hard enough time with the drug czar who I always picture wearing a muscovite hat and carrying a blown glass bong.

  • She's pandering to Edwards

AND she's trying to mitigate the damage the release of her tax returns will surely bring on her campaign...very calculated, as per usual.

  • Dripping Cynicism From Obama Followers

I find it hilarious that Obama's followers -- head-ups, eyes shining, wings spread open like birds, carried aloft with optimism and hope -- are the most cynical, most apoplectic, most venomous, and most uninspiring bunch of dudes and dudettes I have seen and heard since the 60s and 70s.

All this from the same gang that regularly decries Clinton's supporters as deluded, childish, hypocrites, racists, and lots of other oh-so-uplifting adjectives.

Really, are they certain there isn't something going around? Or that their beverages aren't contaminated with something?
