  • Celebrity gossip

has never appealed to me. I really don't care what Bill and Bill and Hil said to one another while munching pizza and watching a football game. Isn't there any *news* that ABC (and Salon) could be covering?

  • Hey Alex

Why don't you have a little talk with Glenn Greenwald about unnamed sources?

  • koppleman, koppleman

wherefore art thou Koppleman?...is this the same anoymous Clinton supporting person with inside information on Richardson that had its own headline earlier today in war room, or a second, anonymous clinton supporter with inside information on richardson claiming the same thing?

I'm beginning to worry that you have it in for Richardson...poor, poor Richardson, his public, acknowledged testimony being challenged repeatedly by anonymous sources (or an anonymous source) on the other side of the great Clinton divide.

  • and in other news

Jimmy Carter has all but endorsed Obama, and two of Clinton's superdelegates (one of which is Murtha) has publicly stated that if she doesn't win the popular vote then they'll switch their loyalties.

know where I heard this? On network freaking news! Salon, this is not acceptable! I shouldn't be hearing this stuff from them before you...I depend on you guys!

  • Is War Room really now just trolls and gossip?

The Clintons lie. That's what they do. This is not a secret.

And if they're not lying now, so what? What are you telling us -- that Bill Richardson changed his mind? Or that he was telling them what he thought he wanted them to hear then? I repeat: so what?

The only point of this gossip is that the Clintons have been offended because someone who now says Hillary's not entitled to her throne. This is news? You have got to be kidding.

    News, please.

  • Why do continue to play in a cesspool,

when there is real news in them thar hills?

  • Good grief, Charlie Brown!

How about something a bit more substantial? Actually, I have campaign fatigue. Please go to style.com and tell me what you think of fall's Marc Jacob's designs. Or go search for a two headed baby. Look up in the clouds and see if you can spot Satan.

If we are going to be subjected to this sort of stuff, dear Mr. Koppelman, could you please make it something more intersting. Who can doubt that Richardson may have said Obama can't win at some time or another? So? That was then and this is now and we will never know exactly what Richardson said to Clinton when he called her to tell her he was endorsing Obama. However, it defies logic to believe he said Obama can't win and then went out and endorsed him. To what purpose?

  • Just to add:

It is indeed highly unlikely that Obama can win.

    I endorse Clinton.

  • I endorse the one who doesn't belong to the extremist, right-wing cult.

That would be the one who isn't Clinton.

    But to each his own.

Glad to see we still get the trolls along with the gossip.

  • And We Should Trust Hillary's Memory Because?

Maybe Richardson's guarantee not to endorse Obama, and his telling Hillary and Bill that Obama couldn't win happened around the same time Hillary did the corkscrew landing in Bosnia and ducked from sniper fire as she ran for her life.

Or maybe it happened around the same time Hillary rubberstamped Bush's road to war, even though she was totally opposed to war?

Or maybe it happened around the same time Hillary was resolving Northern Island's peace process?

Or maybe it happened around the same time Hillary was getting those 35 years of personal experience as a political leader?

  • Koppelman Denies He's Troll-Blogging to Help Clinton And Hinder Obama...

That's all. Just a new headline suggestion...

  • Salon

is now the TMZ of politics. Thanks, Alex.

  • baCK TO GOSSIP AGAIN, ARE YA ALEX?

Us weekly gossip and heresay is now clintons (and her propogandists) bread and butter.

I heard he has warts on his feet to alex. Front page headline. If howard wolfson ok's it that is. May be to soft. Maybe you can dig up an affair on of his middle school teachers once. Or perhaps someone saying he was mean to them once. Front page story. Salon is a joke now. After their histroy. So sad.

You sold out salon, To the gop cult (clinton and her republcains included)

  • I can't even believe I'm posting.

Who the hell cares if she thinks he can't win? Duh. Don't they both think the other can't win?

Given the other references in the article, AK is not alone in making this a story. BUT SOMEBODY HAS TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND STOP COVERING THIS STUFF.

    It's not important.

  • If She Said He Couldn't Win, She Was Right

If Hillary didn't say Obama couldn't win, she should have. He can't.

Anyway, Bill's been saying it, as we all know.

  • Gossip Room

Again, the only point of this entire story is to advance the 'Dems in turmoil' meme. Who gives a shit what any of them said about each other? This is another heaping helping of our cockamamie election coverage and broken press. And War Room is jumping in head first today. Disgusting.

  • Rather than this gossip,

why not go here and read what Josh Marshall has to say about examining polling on racial demographics and swing states:

    http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/

Marshall is a big Obama fan. It is really obvious. However the data Marshall has cited and written about raises serious questions about whether Obama can win the General Election.

    Have fun, endearing optimists.

  • War Room Just Isn't The Same Any More :(

War Room Just Isn't The Same Any More.

I basically started my subscription to Salon during the last election because of War Room. Now I may cancel my subscription for the same reason.

This was supposed to be the place to get obscure news before anyone else. Now? I just don't know any more.

  • Who Cares????

I am so sick of the meaningless garbage being printed in War Room. They should change the name to Spin Room, because that's all this one great section of Salon has become. Just meaningless dribble.

  • Nature's way of saying it's time to move on.

Hillary Clinton says she did not tell Bill Richardson that Barack Obama can't beat John McCain.

She denies that she didn't not tell Richardson that Obama can't not be beaten by McCain?

This is nature's way of saying that it's time to start looking for new things to write about.

  • @ dfield: They all spin.

Politico and TPM spin in favor of Obama. Part of what is upsetting Obama supporters in just that Salon doesn't always spin the way they want it too. Frankly, I find Salon is less partisan between to two remaining Democratic candidates. If you want Clinton spin, go to taylormarsh.com.

The problem is that this has dragged out longer than anyone expected with two compelling candidates (largely compelling because one is a woman and one is a self-identified black man and not because either of them are exceptionally qualified to be president). Obama supporters were just wetting their pants in excitment for awhile when they thought he could close the deal. Now they are impatient. Now they see Obama is just another politician with flaws. I really believe some of you attributed unrealistic hopes of thrilling wonderfulness to him. He is just a man, and not a very experienced man compared to McCain. Clinton has her Clinton baggage. How wearysome that she keeps schlepping that baggage from one state to another and is still so close in the popular vote, huh?

Even a month ago, some of you were saying she should quit. Oh dear, Obama faces competition from a woman who just won't step aside for him. There is no reason she should step aside for him.
