Obama: Clinton "deserves to be able to run"

Interviewed for NBC's "Today," Barack Obama has some nice words for his opponent.

The letters thread is now closed.

Hillary supporters take offense to this

in 3...2...1...

Let me guess:

Let the mudslinging begin!

Hillabot: "He's being condescending."

Obamatron: "She's destroying the party."

And responsible discourse on how the primaryprocess in the US works to our advantage and disadvantage will fly out the window.

But...

The Clinton machine is out with its talking points for the day describing how Obama is trying to force her out of the race.

Though, they may not be entirely sure, running, as it were, to a car after a cork-screw landing amid sniper fire.

The Percentage Of Democrats

That think she should get out of the race is a staggering minority...........which, again, shows substantial doubts about Obama.

Clinton Supporter Phone Calls In PA

A friend got one last night. When he explained politely that he was an Obama supporter, he was treated to some high minded rant from the caller about how 'he doesn't always say the Pledge of Allegiance.'

Clearly, this supporter is working to help the party win in November.

Don't stand for the Clinton lies and distortions.

THIS GOVT IS DANGEROUS

Hoover's contempt for King

On a story about King receiving the St. Francis peace medal from the Catholic Church, he wrote "this is disgusting." On the story "King, Pope to Talk on Race," he scribbled "astounding." On a story about King's meeting with the pope, "I am amazed that the Pope gave an audience to such a degenerate." On a story about King being the heavy favorite to win the Nobel Prize, he wrote "King could well qualify for the 'top alley cat' prize!"

When King learned he would be the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964, the FBI decided to take its harassment of King one step further, sending him an insulting and threatening note anonymously. A draft was found in the FBI files years later. In it the FBI wrote, "You are a colossal fraud and an evil, vicious one at that." The letter went on to say, "The American public ... will know you for what you are -- an evil, abnormal beast," and "Satan could not do more."

The letter's threat was ominous, if not specific: "King you are done." Some have theorized the intent of the letter was to drive King to commit suicide in order to avoid personal embarrassment. "King, there is only one thing left for you to do," the letter concluded. "You know what it is ... You better take it before your filthy, abnormal fraudulent self is bared to the nation."

Staggering doubts obout Obama?

The Percentage Of Democrats

That think she should get out of the race is a staggering minority...........which, again, shows substantial doubts about Obama.

Hmmm...that is why every poll of Democrats nationally have him leading her by 10 points or more.

No, it merely reflects an unfortunate, but not unexpected, proclivity on the part of many Democrats to see the process through to its conclusion, or at least until Hillary sees (or Obama sees) that she/he can't get the nomination.

Really WES? Tell Us More of Your Truth

"which, again, shows substantial doubts about Obama."

Really? Could it be that they just want to see things play out a little longer? How did you divine this rich intelligence into the 'whys' of a poll number...something tells me the finger you have on the pulse of the Democratic electorate is numb to the facts on the ground.

Of Course He Wants Her Out

He wants to change direction to the business at hand, that is defeating McCain.

Of course he knows how deft she is at using perceived piling on to energize the "menopause" set for money and energy. So he'll let the rational world of people that see her as a petulant narcissist grind her down. Remember, Clinton had it all. The money, the endorsements, the staff of choice, the time to build infrastructure, and the name recognition. And with all this she still lost. There is no-one to blame outside her most intimate circle.

I Thought She Couldn't Win On Delegates

And it's destroying the party. Play it out longer why?

Tuesday, April 1, 2008 07:51 AM

A patronizing weasel by any other name is still patronizing and still a weasel

Obama: Oh, absolutely. And I think she deserves to be able to run and make her case.

It's unfortunate that anybody would give a flying fuk whether Obama thinks "she deserves" to run or not. If he wasn't such a weasel, he would have simply stated, "As long as Clinton remains in the race, I have not won the nomination and must continue to campaign to win the nomination to the best of my abilities."

See the difference children?

Oh excuse me, I didn't realize you didn't like be patronized to either.

It Looks To Me

Like it's going on and on..........and finally the majority will say--Okay I guess we have to let him be the nominee. God help us.

Tuesday, April 1, 2008 07:56 AM

She can't....

"I Thought She Couldn't Win On Delegates

And it's destroying the party. Play it out longer why?"

Because hurding Democrats is like hurding cats. Obama's position makes perfect sense if, at the end of the process, you need to capture Clintonites who have hard feelings (though anyone who would support Hillary on the "issues" and vote for McCain needs to see a shrink...).

It is interesting to speculate, however -- and knowing the Clintons -- that were the situation reversed..."chill out" would be a strong arm applied to every operative to get Obama to conceed and get out.

Certainly, whether he says so publically or not, Obama wants here gone. But he recognizes that she will do so in her own time and that in the end she will not torpedo the party's chances -- to be remembered as a wrecker instead of a more noble political warrior. Besides, when she does get out -- if she can't do it -- it will also be because she will understand how the cards lay and that she will want to have influence with the Obama Administration should it make it through in November.

@ sajwan

Clinton says McCain is ready for the White House and Obama isn't.

Obama says Clinton has shown tenacity and deserves to fight for her candidacy (despite her efforts to undermine Obama in the Fall, as he almost certainly will be the candidate).

sajwan: Obama is a weasel.

If you don't already get a paycheck from McCain or Clinton, you have a good case to make for one.
