electability
In addition, Trumpet Newsmagazine, of which Wright is the chief executive officer, published an article written by Wright in which he described the crucifixion of Jesus as "public lynching Italian style."
"(Jesus') enemies had their opinion about Him," Wright wrote in a eulogy of the late scholar Asa Hilliard in the November/December 2007 issue, according to CNSNews.com. "The Italians for the most part looked down their garlic noses at the Galileans."
So the Obama/Wright duo have offended gays, jews, and now italians. Who's next, hispanics or women?
How long will Democrats allow this to go on?
Until Obama/Wright alienate the entire country?

that article
It's awful that Obama would write such a thing.
...Wait, he didn't?
Then who cares?
Anyone who thinks Wright represents Obama is either an idiot or is just trying to raise hay.

Dean better do more than blow some hot air
But at this point I don't see the clintons relenting even after she's dropped out of the race. Its becoming clearer by the day their plan is to kick the legs out from under the Democrats and help McCain get elected. Is she positioning herself for 2012? Maybe, but after this fiasco she'll have no home in the Democratic party. I think her senate seat will even be in jepardy.

Sonofloud
is a republican troll and if he isn't, he should reconsider his party affiliation as he sure sounds like one.

"Anyone who thinks Wright represents Obama is either an idiot or is just trying to raise hay."
How about Obama representing him?

@sonofloud
As an Italian American, I'm not offended the the garlic nosed comment at all. It's not even an accurate insult, as the Romans weren't Italians in the modern sense of the word. Their was no Italian national identity back then.
Please let me know when BARACK OBAMA says something that I should be offended by. I really could care less what his pastor says.

This won't go to the convention
It should be all finished by early June. By early May if Clinton doesn't win PA by twenty points. If she loses PA, which does seem unlikely, it'll be over right there and then. But if Clinton is still fighting come the convention, she might as well dress up like bozo in Denver because she'll just be a total clown for staying in well after she lost.

"pro"-Clinton Trolls
Ah, Wes, just like Shawn, the other "pro"-Clinton troll...don't you know that every time you post your divisive, polarized, tactless, and thoughtless attacks on any Democrat who doesn't agree with you another Republican gets his or her horns? Don't you know that people like give McCain and the right-wing judges he wishes to appoint shudders of joy?
The sad thing is that Hillary Clinton is a remarkable, capable person. I think she is a very admirable person, and would make a fantastic president. People like you, Wes, do nothing more than sully Senator Clinton with your obnoxiousness. Do Obama supporters go overboard sometimes? Oh yes. However, I have not seen the sort of venom from them that I have read from you and Shawn. Obama can win the general election, as can Clinton. If the one who gets the nomination doesn't, it will not because of their failings, for their strengths outweigh them, but because people like you have done their darnedest to divide the party. Clinton is not my first choice. I prefer Obama, but if Clinton were to somehow be nominated, I would enthusiastically support her. This election is too crucial to engage in the the sort of childishness you typify. So, please, grow up, and realize that fellow Democrats are not your enemy. McCain and the Republicans who want another four years to continue their destruction of this country are. This goes for Obama supporters, also. Be civil - we are on the same side, after all.

The USA used to get along fine with brokered conventions
But in recent decades, the parties have gybed away from that course. Now they want all the convention voices to jive with a single overall party message.
Why is it bad if the Democrats wait until the convention to choose? That certainly would increase interest and viewership.
-
What's bad is...
the media.
If we had a "fairness doctrine" in place this wouldn't be a problem.
But we don't, so it is.

Dean is right
But I don't believe he has the personal clout to persuade the remaining super delegates to declare their choices by the deadline.
I do think that a combination of circumstances (primary votes, polling results, high profile endorsements, bone-headed gaffes and misstatements) in the next few weeks will push the neutral delegates to take their stands. We may also see more defections from super delegates who made their initial commitments many months ago and who now are reconsidering their positions.
Certainly things will all be sorted out by July 1 and the pivot to face the GOP will begin in earnest.

@Athenian
I think you're mixing up our dear Wes and "sonofloud". Wes is fine...he actually has a point to what he's saying (however obscure it might seem at times). ShawnWM and sonofloud are nothing but amateurish freeper trolls.

garlic noses
you have to admit that sunday mornings with Wright could not have been a snooze....

@timbuktom
I think a brokered convention is bad under the current circumstances, and this current period is instructive why. We're still 4 weeks from the next primary, and look at all that has "happened" since the last one. Ferraro, Wright, Bosnia, "monster," "Judas," etc. Meanwhile, McCain is able to raise money (which Democrats have to raise for two candidates, not one), give substantive policy speeches (not that his policies are all that substantive) and "look presidential" while the Democrats finish beating each other to death with teaspoons.
Brokered conventions were fine when the system was set up for one. But with the front-loading and leapfrogging of primaries, combined with the brinksmanship on setting convention dates (my take is that the parties set their conventions so late so as to a) have the maximum viewership, after summer vacations are mostly over and b) make sure theirs is second, so that their candidate gets the last word in. There may also be campaign finance restrictions pertaining to the $2300 dollar "primary" and "general election" limits, but I'm not sure about that), there's now a 12 week gap. I'm sure that's longer than it would have been in the past.
So no, a brokered convention would do no good. I'm a little disappointed that Gov. Dean has set the bar at July 1st and not, say, June 4th.
