The Notorious W.E.S.
Please remember, this is WES making predictions here. He's been wrong on every other prediction so you can read this as assurance that we'll have President Obama next year.
How wrong is he? He's promised to move to a new country if his predictions were wrong so many times (and then been wrong) he's hoping for a break-up of China just so he has somewhere to go next time!
-
This is the kind of thing that happens...
...when the next primary is weeks away and there hasn't been a "gotcha" scandal in, oh, it must be days now...
-
@ sonofdumb
"I don't see an article on indicted Governor Anibal Acevedo Vila of Puerto Rico, one of Obama's superdelegates."
Or we could talk about how disgraced governor Eliot Spitzer was a superdelegate for Hillary Clinton. And what the hell would that prove? Are you suggesting that the fact he was an Obama superdelegate has any connection between the fact that he was indicted? Or are you just leaping at any chance to smear with guilt by association? I imagine his status as an Obama superdelegate has as much to do with the indictment as Hillary has to do with Spitzer's predilection for hookers.
-
I'm Not Predicting
The superdelegates are. Their inaction means they think Obama can't win.
-
I have to disagree
This isn't the stupidest idea ever--it's considerably less ridiculous than a lot of what Klein spews out over the pages of Time magazine. And, in principle and in different circumstances, a Gore-Obama ticket would have been something special.
Still, one must wonder what kind of time warp Klein is stuck in. We're not in the era of the dark horse candidate who emerges from a smoke-filled room to save a deadlocked convention. Granted, Hubert Humphrey did it as recently as 1968 for the Democrats, at a disastrously chaotic convention that resulted in the election of Richard Nixon.
This is going to be moot, anyway. I'm hoping the superdelegates will step in, the sooner the better.
-
That's The Entire Hillary Fight
And why she keeps fighting.....He can't win.
-
Not too alarming
First: Yes, it's only March 27
Second: Polls were conducted before the latest spike in Iraq violence.
Third: McCain is inextricably tied to the war on Iraq.
-
Al Gore!?
Don't make me snore!
-
The Notorious W.E.S. is not exactly Nostradamus
I recall him pronouncing that Hillary had cinched the nomination after taking California on Super Tuesday. I'm pretty sure that prediction was a fact too, at the time.
BTW, I have a question I've been meaning to ask you, W.E.S.:
At the office, do you make people call you "Mr. Penn" or do you let them address you just as "Mark?"
-
The Notorious W.E.S.
Except of course for the ones that are acting. Then again they're not moving to Hillary either. I guess she can't win. Mayb, just maybe, they're holding off out of political self-interest! Nah, that can't be it. Politicians playing politics? Never!
And who knows why Hillary keeps fighting, it isn't me, it isn't you. She feels entitled? She's hoping to parlay it into something? She honestly thinks she has a better shot? Ego? She's being pushed? Only she knows and maybe she's not being honest with herself.
-
Hey, as long as we are just making sh*t up...
How about "Gore-Kerry"
Seriously, that makes about as much sense.
Gore has repeated time and time again that he has more influence in his current role and would not give that up. Frankly, if I were him, I wouldn't touch the offer with a 10-foot pole. After the way they tore him down in 2000, he finally got the recognition he deserves... The heck with the presidency.
He's a fricken' Nobel Prize Laureate... an irony which I'm sure is not lost on Bill Clinton since that was the one thing he wanted more than anything.
-
Yes
I thought Hillary would win the nomination from the start. Which probably positions me to enjoy a nice "told ya so" in November.
-
With Hillary As VP
Obama would go from a no shot to at least possible.
-
yes, it's preposterous.
candidates for president are driven by muscular egos. obama could not possibly imagine himself less attractive than gore.
besides, gore appears to have found a career which is more respectable than president. this is not so difficult anymore.
-
W.E.S.
Is the Notorious Nostril Dumbass.
-
Joe is smoking some bad weed.
Lets see. We have two exciting Democratic candidates battling it out for the nomination making sure every negative nuance towards them is answered. Both are capable to being better than average Presidents and most importantly, capable of beating John McCain in November assuming they don't change their tactics.
Then we can look at Al Gore (or John Kerry for that matter). Are you kiddin' me!!
-
pattern
indicted governor Anibal Acevedo Vila
indicted "businessman" Tony Rezko
governor Rod Blagojevich
and what juicy stories they will make for the right wing since the media would rather report that obama is related to brad pitt and hillary is related to angelina jolie.
-
Gore is not bigger than God
Obama is.
-
What about Edwards
Somebody posted earlier the idea that maybe John Edwards would be brought forward at the convention -- that would make a lot more sense than recycling Al Gore, who has moved beyond politics.
John Edwards at least has been out on the campaign trail this year and WANTS to run for President.
Who knows what's going on behind the scenes? But there were a number of outstanding candidates in the original Democratic field -- Biden, Dodd, Richardson, Edwards ... We don't need to go back to the past to find a compromise nominee.

Let's
Dig up Donny Osmond!

War Room posting another non-story
Joe Klein is an idiot and has been shown several times to be so by Glenn Greenwald. The sad thing is Salon continues to post non-stories like this in War room while ignoring Hillary's meltdown over Bosnia or her connections to Wal-Mart:

What's the big deal about Gore?
He couldn't even carry his own state in 2000, otherwise he would have won.
Does a little golden statue, a Nobel Peace Prize and a little extra weight make you better qualified to run the country? I seriously doubt it.
In terms of charisma and appeal, Gore couldn't hold a candle to Obama!

Match Game fun-
Lynx says-This is WES making predictions here. How wrong is he? He's promised to move to a new country if his predictions were wrong so many times...he finally ended up back in the U.S.
