Mon Oncle
The pan-islamacists, If I remember. Didn't nationalism and dudes like Nassar do them in? I thought Saddam was along those lines, if only as a rationale for him becoming the reincarnation of al-Saladin
Yes. Nassar did imprison and I believe execute them which then started a whole secret movement out of that martyrdom.
Just copy and paste the first URL to see the video. Would you believe, the guy was educated in the US and took back with him the seeds of revolutionary Islamic radicalism.
I need to watch it again. It's been a while.

@ Kansas O'Flaherty: Who's Childish Here?
It's impossible to take her "supporters" seriously. Absolutely impossible. And all the childish behavior in the world, not surprisingly, will not change that.
Might we then make the same generalization about Obama's supporters? Hmmm, Kansas?
-
Ever since the enlightenment
The US has been a hotbed of radicalism. Concepts such as ixnay on the devine right of kings, life, liberty and the persuit of happiness.
Suppose that's why I think we're not quite dead yet.
-
@lj May I (with pinkie extended)
Might we then make the same generalization about Obama's supporters? Hmmm, Kansas?
Not only might I, I certainly will. I will make the same generalization about everybody: All Childish!
-
@ Uncle Fester: Oh, Good!
I was afraid nobody would take me up on the offer! ;]
-
Fester's always here to help
You know that. One fork in the road leads to dispair. The other to not taking it all so seriously. Late at night, the ephemeral curtains of the world part, and one can see clearly that life's too short to waste on bullshit.

@madam thanks for the links
I will peruse them.

You are right. Political colonization is one thing about American imperialism, but what will always trump that are American universities that remain the bedrock of knowledge disbursement and political action. The anti-apartheid movement in South Africa gained momentum in the US after schools and universities started to divest from companies trading with the apartheid government.

Fester
OK. I am on vacation for two weeks. Will check back with you on the docs. Enjoy. Look after Tom Payne and Manos. Their pithy zingers are more enjoyable than long, recycled diatribes.

Feared at home and abroad
Our true ideals, self determination, life, liberty and the persuit of happiness, and the idea that no one is beholden to another man, country or corporate entity that sucks the lifeforce dry, are certainly feared abroad by many who seek to use others for their own ends. But our ideals also feared here as well, as no nation has a shortage of the power-hungry. The founders were hip to that. We just need to remember.

KateTex
I'm on your blacklist too? Hot dang, that's mighty 'merican 'o you!
See ya in the funny papers Fester.
-
@madam
Have fun with the vacation, Agreed that I prefer the zingers. That's why I'm a big fan of WES.
-
Fester
I adore W.E.S. He cracks me up.

The List Of 20 Donors
These people are to the Democratic party, what Diebold, Enron, Halliburton, etc. are to the Republican party. Their companies' emails and phones should be filled with messages, explicitly stating as to WE THE PEOPLE will not allow them to subvert This Democracy.

On early Radical Islamists in Egypt:
Look up Said Khutub and Hasan al-Bana, also the ikhwan muslimeen (The Muslim Brotherhood).
-
@manos Politically radical Islamics: Endangered species?
I haven't kept up with this. I thought that the political dudes were eclipsed after the success of the Iranian revolution and the rise of the Wahabists. Not to mention that the ruling governments are not keen to change the rules of the game. It's pretty hosed and Imperial America is to o often an excuse for not getting it done.
Don't really know what that has to do with Pelosi or Reid though. We've gone way off topic. Again.

bon voyage, madam
Manos and I will continue to pith into the breeze from the right in your absence. I assume you'll be in the Greek isles as always. Yes, WES and Walker are human, and thus accessible. I listen to them. I learn even if I disagree. Shawn is a cartoon. the dog is a quadraped. Kate is a monument to wounded virtue, and will not accept an apology so she can retain her violated posture. All in all, of sufficient interest to persevere, unless the prigs and prissies have us put in the stocks and subject to ridicule and overripe vegetables on the town square. How Puritan. That's American, too, along with Witch Dipping and the hanging of uppity darkies. It's all of one cloth, and that's what we have to remember, always. We are a work in progress, and there is not one single Diviine guarantee of the outcome. Ever. Thus, we persevere. tom

Hey there
No Fester. The Ikhwan muslimeen still exists today in Egypt, although with only semi-legitimacy granted it by the Egyptian govenment. Said Khutub and Hasan al-Banna are the preeminent thinkers and shapers of modern political Islam. As for Iran, having had two Iranian gilfriends in a single lifetime, I know my Iranscape pretty well. I bid your command oh master.
-
I mean
Oh Fester.

I don't buy the threats
I honestly do not believe any of these so called democrats who threaten to vote GOP if Hillary is not the nominee. I really don't. KateTex will vote for Obama come November, unless she really is some kind of GOP plant just trying to stir up mischief.
And yeah, I have said plenty I will never vote for Hillary Clinton- but the thing is, I'm not a Democrat. I'm an independent who has voted for both party's candidates, as well as third party plenty of times. I vote for people, not for parties. Hell, I never voted for Bill Clinton either, because I always thought he was pretty much a crook and a liar too.
These Hillary devotees are all card carrying Democrats, who'd vote for the Democrat on the ballot unless he/she had killed someone for their spot in line at the deli. I think all this voting for McCain things is just that, just talk. A ploy to yet again scare people about Obama's electability. And a complete and total bluff.
Clinton backers will make a big stink, hold their breath or threaten to take their ball home, but in the end they will get right in line and vote Democrat, no matter who it is. If they don't, then perhaps the Democratic party is far better off without that kind of loyalty.
