Letters posted here are associated with the following article:
Harry Reid says Democrats will have a nominee before the convention, while some of Clinton's donors admonish Nancy Pelosi.

  • If Hillary Can't Have it, Then No Democrat Can

She would rather detonate the entire party than lose this primary.

  • Admonish??? ADMONISH??

You meant to write, "extort," "threaten," or "blackmail," right?

  • By the rules

The superdelegates were created to use their independent judgment. That's what the rules say. Now if the rules were to become more flexible, one could also argue that that the delegates of the Michigan and Florida primaries be seated.

You can't argue that rules are rules as pertains to Michigan and Florida and at the same time argue that superdelegates should be held to vote that reflects their state votes.

If that is the case, then, logically, you have to abandon the "rules are rules" argument.

  • Sounds like fair game to me!

Pelosi can find money for the bankrupt DNC perhaps from Obama's AA supporters in South Carolina.

Or perhaps Obama can lend her some of the money the GOP is probably paying him to lose this race for them.

  • Out of hand

Clinton's campaign is a parody of truth, decency, and itself. More pathetic by the day, while Obama continues to rise above. He is so clearly the superior candidate.

  • rules

It's true that the rules allow superdelegates to vote as they wish. But I'm sure most of them recognize the huge downside -- for the Dems and for the country -- if they look as though they're overturning the will of the solid majority of primary voters.

  • This is So Frustrating

After the last seven years the Democrats should be able to put Charles Manson and Jeffery Dahmer on the ticket and still win by five points. And yet I keep dreading that they are somehow finding a way to lose the election to ‘bomb bomb bomb Iran’ stay in Iraq for 100 years social conservative John McCain.

Granted the media has a lot to do with it. But the mishandling of the Michigan and Florida situation and the increasingly bitter tone of the campaign (on both sides) with idiots in both camps saying they will vote for McCain if their candidate doesn’t get the nod make me feel like we’ll be inaugurating John McCain President next January.

And blame falls on both candidates. As much as people like to argue Clinton should get out, the truth is Obama has three or four opportunities to seal the deal and missed them. If he had won the popular vote in either Texas or Ohio the odds are enough super delegates would have pledged to him put it out of reach for Clinton. And since there is still a glimmer of hope Clinton will drag this out convention if she can.

The longer this goes, the more bitterness builds up on both sides and say hello to President McCain.

  • It's not Hillary's campaign trying to shut down early and lock out millions of voters.

And NOBODY should let the self-entitled turds of Obamateur's and the religious right and Republican country-clubbers let them get stripped of their right to vote in this election either.

whatever name calling Obama and his repulsive supporters can dish out but can't take in is NOTHING compared to what the people have been through the past seven years and it s NOTHING like what they will be going through when McCain sweeps the floor with Obama.

    DON'T LET IT HAPPEN.

  • @ShawnWM

ShawnWM: "...perhaps from Obama's AA supporters in South Carolina."

Interesting implication there. Good to see you taking the high road.

  • Let them get a room together

The Clinton camp is telling the Democratic party:either Hillary becomes the nominee, regardless of who gets more delegates, or we'll make sure that McCain is the next president. Well, Hillary has always been a Republican, a wolf in sheep clothings, pick your metaphor. Why wait till August to endorse McCain? Let the Clintons endorse him right now, get it out of the way and run on the Republican ticket, where she really belongs.

  • "Threaten," not "admonish"

Suze26, I completely agree. This letter is an outrageous threat by a bunch of rich, above-the-law bastards.

Since Pelosi published this "private" letter, I think she wants people to know about their scumbag tactics.

You can send her a quick letter here

    http://speaker.house.gov/contact/

if you want to support her in standing up to them.

  • Sounds like these donors want to be able to influence the superdelages, but don't want Pelosi to

"We have been strong supporters of the DCCC. We therefore urge you to clarify your position on super-delegates and reflect in your comments a more open view to the optional independent actions of each of the delegates at the National Convention in August."

Funny how the letter never mentions the fact that they're all Hillary Clinton supporters. Why omit that essential fact from your letter? The answer is obvious: To make it sound like they have an objective gripe about the philosophy of how the superdelegates make their decision. Once you know they're Clinton supporters, however, their motives become much clearer -- they want to be able to influence the superdelegates without anybody else getting in their way.

  • @Xanadu Hutman

If you can't take the heat stay out of politics. The facts are the facts. Nancy Pelosi can't pander to the Berkeley crowd to keep her seat safe on one hand, but then want to disenfranchise long-time Democratic donors while still getting their money.

Tough teeters. At this point Pelosi better HOPE Obama doesn't get hte nomination because she'll likely enjoy her last term shortly thereafter his defeat.

As for the high road, what would you, of all persons know about it. Anyone who wants to deprive the people of a fair and democratic election doesn't even need to ask what my opinion of them is. Lower than pondscum.

  • @ Xrandadu Hutman

they want to be able to influence the superdelegates without anybody else getting in their way.

Oh my, how dreadful! Are you saying that no Obama supporters would like to influence the superdelegates? Can Obama win without superdelegates?

  • Which insinuation does Obama object to?

The ones that says that we should let people vote to elect their candidate instead of simply denying them the opportunity and declaring him the winner? That wouldn't surprise me, given his positions on Florida and Michigan.

  • You get the feeling

That no matter who would have won the nomination of either party, whether it was still between Richardson and Kucinich or Romney and Huckabee, you would have flame wars between supporters of the winning and losing contestants. It's become predictable and tiresome. There's very little substance and a lot of snarky unfounded trash talk like this cute tidbit from ShawnWM-Pelosi can find money for the bankrupt DNC perhaps from Obama's AA supporters in South Carolina.

Or perhaps Obama can lend her some of the money the GOP is probably paying him to lose this race for them

Not funny, insightful or at all amusing. Just disheartening and dull.
