Yesterday, Hillary erased any doubt I had on her mental stability. She should be run out of the Democratic party. I would vote for a woman for president, but not Hillary. If she wrangles the nomination, albeit by nefarious means, there will be such an uproar that the Democratic party will rue the day they allowed this power hungry couple to subvert the rules.
Jon Stewart is right. Obama spoke to us as if we are adults. Look at the hysteria, in spite of Hillary's daily decent into madness. Thanks for your story anyway. Viva older people.

"It's not the Democratic Party as I'd prefer it to be, but then it hasn't been that Party for many decades. Neither is it our country as I'd prefer it to be, and perhaps never was. I can't wish this away; I can only hope that there might be enough of us to change it and enough open minds willing to be changed."
I would suggest that people start reading up about the Parliamentary System as practiced in Europe. I think it allows for a much wider range of people to have a voice in government, as opposed to the winner-take-all system in this country. The downside is that this system tends to result in governments that are slow to act (majority approval is always required -- which can be viewed as a positive), as opposed to the the US system where the winner takes the country where it wants to regardless of opposition by the rest (which generates much ill-will towards the other side). But maybe it's a culture thing. Americans value freedom and individuality, while Europeans place great stock on social cohesion.
P.S. Don't despair. The country will muddle its way through this, no matter what. Have faith :).

Her Royal Clutz!...
... is a liar. If she stayed married with Bill despite all his betrayals of her, she certainly would have stayed in the church if it was convenient.
What is coming increasingly clear in this battle for the Dem. nomination is that HRC is playing politics as usual and Obama is trying not to do so by elevating the discourse.

Should be cut and pasted on every thread in here, often, and a number of other sites also.

As deflated as I may sound, no, I haven't abandoned the notion that this country may in fact be on the verge of growing up just a little bit. I've been astonished at what we've seen thusfar, and continue to pinch myself when witnessing Obama's ascendancy. After all, it was only a very short time ago that he was a distant dark horse, when Hillary's lead seemed insurmountable and he didn't even receive a majority of African-American support. Here, in the moment, it's hard to discern what real effect the right-wing echo chamber is having on voters, and I may find myself astonished yet again.
There is one other element to this story that I also find astonishing, but not in a positive way. Does no one else find it remarkable, if not quite incomprehensible, that Hillary chose the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review - a right-wing rag owned by Richard Mellon Scaife - to make these comments? And that Scaife was actually sitting at the table?
Is there anyone who more personifies the "Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy" than this man? He of the "Arkansas Project"? And "The American Spectator"? I don't understand. I don't understand. I don't understand. My mind reels.

It's quite simple. If you can't fight 'em, join 'em.
The Clintons belong to this secret fundamentalist group called "The Family". Scaife is probably a member. Sounds like the aggressive courting of McCain is that the Clintons could move over to the GOP. I would not put anything past them. Maybe Hillary is begging to be on the ticket with McCain, now that she knows, she has a donkey's chance in hell to get the Democratic nomination.

Preachers and choice
A few things I have noticed as this latest drama has unfolded:
The main talking point coming out of the Clinton campaign regarding this is that Obama could not choose his family but he could choose his church.
I will point out that disagreeing with someone does not automatically mean you have poor judgment for maintaining ties with them. In reality we all disagree but we also all will continue to talk to those people we disagree with.
Secondly, Obamas preacher has his own ideas and thoughts that Obama does not share with him. Essentially, Obama is not some newborn "tabula rasa" that this preacher is imprinting with ALL of his thoughts. We take from people things that we agree with and discard those we do not agree with. (Or at least thats how the adults I grew up around dealt with each other.) Again the exchange of ideas is not a dangerous act that indicates poor judgment. It seems to indicate a willingness to listen to all sides and be open to new and radical ideas regardless of the form they take.
Anyone ever hear the saying, "Don't throw the baby out with the bath water." It applies here.
Finally I do not think this is Clinton's spin to cover her lies about Bosnia. I think it is a dirty underhanded trick to throw mud she knows has a better chance of sticking than anything else she can come up with.

But Hillary did choose a lying, cheating husband who quite frankly has sabotaged her campaign and grossly alienated the AA community

Can't believe this hasn't been discussed...
22 pages, and nobody (unless I missed it) has mentioned that the headline (and subhead) is quite the hit job.
Maybe we're just used to Salon's relentless propping up of the Democratic Dead-ender, but despite the fact that the article itself is overall a fairly damning thing for Senator Clinton, the headline is right out of the Mark Penn School of Memos.
She has this press conference where, confronted with a baldfaced lie repeated several times, she pulls the equivalent of "hey! Look over there!"
And yet, it's so brilliantly framed so that a) War Room can say that they "covered" the Bosnia lie and b) it's minimized as much as it can be by having the post also discuss Wright.
To put it simply, this is exactly the same as the Clinton strategy, and it is therefore indistinuishable from it.
Alex, I'll ask again. Is Joan Walsh holding you against your will? Please send us a signal and we'll come help you.
