Every single attack against you bring against Obama have all been asked and answered. Many, many times.

Race baiting- you claim Obama is complicit in a racist smear campaign against the Clinton. Patently ludicrous. For starters, members of the Clinton campaign were caught passing around the emails about the madrassa lie. In New Hampshire, Bob Shaheen suggested that Obama not only did drugs, but probably sold drugs. Bill Clinton tried to dismiss Obama as just another black candidate by comparing him to Jesse Jackson. And we all remember the lovely 'white man's burden' bigotry of Geraldine Ferraro. These are just the examples I remember right now.

If you choose to believe these things were all innocent or unnrelated coincidences, and there wasn't an intentional effort to play on racist tendencies some of the white middle class have, then go right ahead. I on the other hand know bullshit when I see it.

Rezco- Obama has been completely forthright on his dealings with Rezco. Just a few weeks ago Obama sat down with two different Chicago newspapers and answered every single question they had. One of these session lasted ninety minutes as I remember. Both papers came away completely satisfied that he answered everything. And nobody has ever shown or suggested there was anything unethical, let alone illegal, in anything Obama ever did with Rezco.

(And just as a sidenote, isn't it interesting that a member of Clinton's campaign actually has gotten more money from Rezco than Obama has?)

But if you choose to believe there is something unanswered here, even though nearly a decade of extensive investigation by several high caliber journalists not only came up with nothing, but satisfied these professionals that there is nothing to be had, then go right ahead. I on the other hand do not beat dead horses.

Sorry, Kate, no wool over the eyes here. Perhaps you should check a mirror.

Clinton's war adventure in Bosnia just blew up in her face. It's gonna take some real spit and shine to put a happy face on that boldfaced lie. Experience borrowed from hubby doesn't make her experienced by any stretch of the truth no matter how she tries to stretch it. Her whole experience argument from her first lady days are a twisted pretzel of pure horse pucky.

  • How can we know?

However, what if Obama realistically stands no chance of actually gaining the presidency? Then maybe Clinton is doing the right thing by doing everything she can to defeat him. He is certainly doing everything he can to defeat her. If she wins and defeats John McCain then, to me, it's worth it. Obama will have his shot later. If she wins the nomination but then loses to McCain, she will clearly hurt the party. Same formula applies to Obama.

I don't think we can ever know "realistically" if Obama stands no chance until his approval ratings drop to like 20% or something. Right now the daily gallup tracking polls show both Obama and Hillary really close (as an example of something non-definitive). It will be a judgement call.

There's also some history of extended primary campaigns fatally damaging the winner that shouldn't be ignored.

I don't think Obama is doing everything to beat her. If it was me, I'd start with Bill. What about Bill? What's he supposed to be doing? Is he the 2nd VP? I also think there is no guarantee that either of them have another shot at this.

However, hurting Obama's chances and hurting his supporters feelings is no great crime. I agree about hurting supporters feelings, but if you want a Democrat to win and you thought Hillary could only win by going nuclear, then you may honorably conclude it's not worth it.

When you figure out a way that people can campaign in a primary and not hurt their opponent's chances in the general, let me know.

I think the issue is relative amounts of damage. Initially I thought this was good because Obama and Hillary definitely needed some sparring practice, but I think we are past that point. Huckabee wanted a brokered convention, but he didn't go nuclear to get it. Must have thought it wasn't in his own self interest.

  • That cold, purple heart of hers.

You know, it barely fazes me that she'd attempt to pin a purple heart on herself for traveling to Bosnia, but I sure am repulsed when that natural naked opportunism of hers conjures up something as huffy and petty as, "Well! If he was MY pastor..."

I cringe at every new shred of dignity she manages to shed. Seriously, what is the matter with her?

  • quiet type

I hear you loud and clear.

  • what is the matter with her?

She has descended into madness. Why would she ever think that raising the stink about Wright would ever raise her own ratings on trustworthiness, especially on the heels of her Bosnia lies exposure. This is public hari kari and we are all watching her meltdown.

  • It's a little like this...

She probably figured that a dig at Obama'a pastor would deflect attention away from her big 'ol lie about her big adventure in the Balkans.

  • Agreed. Should have left it alone to Fester (sorry)

Leaving aside all moral, ethical and all other useless non-realpolitik crap (practicing thinking like a politician here), I think it was a bad political move. I couldn't believe I was hearing it on the tube tonight. She compared a hypothetical personal judgement of hers to the one Obama has made. Now it's legal for the press to compare and constrast other personal judgements Hillary has made to see if they conflict with this hypothetical. It gets attention off Obama and on to her, and not in a good way. It will remind people that they may not have agreed with some of her personal judgements in the past.

We'll see if I'm right. Put that down in the book of bad predictions.

  • crude translation:

She thought the shit would hit the fan but it just came back around and splattered in her face.

  • @manos99

Here I was thinking how cool she was for NOT stooping to any pastor digs. This kind of deflection play is such a disappointment and embarrassingly pitiful. That it plays so cozily into the GOP's fat little hands is, of course, the worst aspect of all.

With each new day she reveals how truly little she cares about the health of the Democratic party. I'm sure Rove is sipping martinis and enjoying the show.
