  • You never know AKA Smith

If you learn to love IT, that just might be IT's Achilles' heel.

As a thinking Clinton supporter, I wonder if you wouldn't mind answering a question. If it were indeed the case that Reverend Wright was representative of the mainstream, if strident, version of black ministers, (that we as a society haven't given two figs about until now), would you support the Clinton camps using this issue to score political points? Would you endorse Clinton's finance chair who apparently likened Wright to David Duke? Would you do all that even though it repudiates the entirety of this constituency of Americans?

  • Alkaline and Cythera

Falwell the toad is dead. McCain now has Hagee and Robertson which will cancel out Wright in the general election. Go Obama.

  • It's about judgment, stupid

Obama's point about Hillary's Iraq vote is that she does not have the judgment to lead, he does. And then we find out about Pastor Wright. So now he's been caught red-handed with a long-term display of poor judgment. And of course, there is his "bone-headed" judgment of being close to Rezko for so long. Is there no wonder why people who are not dazzled by Obama, find him a bit hypocritical? And if so, why do you attack them for reaching a logical conclusion displayed by his actions and words?

Speeches wipe away the judgment issue for some people on this forum, but not for all people. If Hillary had apologized for the war vote like Edwards did, would people stop calling her a liar? A meanie? No. It's just bullshit to think that you would.

Since Obama has been railing about this "judgment" issue for the past few months, his judgment is fair game. Hillary has a right to question it. What she said was relatively benign, but the hypersensitive Obama fans like to conflate it to lying and being mean. Come on people. Why are you acting like 5-year olds and then demand to be taken seriously like adults?

This Salon war room letters forum is eerily beginning to sound like DailyKos; Obama fans post religiously day after day and often rip into any Clinton supporter. The few that have made pro-Clinton posts on this thread are immediately addressed by pro-Obama posters: shamed, made to feel bad, demonized, condescended to. And will be multiple times. I'm sure I'll get something after this post.

@ juneausmog: you made a pro-Clinton post, now I will point out how worthless and wrong your opinion is.

The real question however, is not the judgment of Clinton or Obama; it's our judgment. Are we capable of judging people correctly? Well, many people spoiled Gore's candidacy for Nadar. Then we picked Kerry. Now the Obama/Clinton fight breeds derision and adolescent snarkiness. But my question is, how can I take your judgment seriously when you act like this?

  • All I have to say, burlydee, is

    god DAMN America!

  • Clinton Quote

"Let me be clear. Freedom means the right of people to assemble, organize, and debate openly. It means respecting the views of those who may disagree with the views of their governments."

    Hillary Clinton

  • Dream Ticket? More Like Nightmare Ticket.

Why not just switch parties now? Maybe she can be part of a McCain/Clinton "dream ticket"

Wow! A ticket that would make me twice as likely to vote for Obama.

Maybe she could teach John a few tricks about dodging enemy fire . . .

  • Oh God, madamfauntleroy, you're kidding, right?

The media will never call McCain on Hagee or Robertson, never ever ever. But they will happily use Wright to beat Obama into the ground.

  • cythera45

You got a point there. See the double standards we have to deal with? But fear not. The christian right hates McCain. They will sit out the elections anyway. Right of center Dems will vote for McCain. All others will vote for Obama. Viva Obama. Howz dem apples?

  • cythera45

If you're so willing to bow down to what the media gives you, I can guess that you were a proud Bush supporter?

  • Serious?

If you're so willing to bow down to what the media gives you, I can guess that you were a proud Bush supporter?

Did an Obama fan seriously just type that?

  • The tired old "if you love" saw

People in the God business say "You'll do 'X' if you love God".

Reich-wingers say "You'll do 'X' if you love America".

In both cases, the speakers are attempting to perpetrate fallacies. They want to bully you into accepting their conclusions without examining the logic of their statements. The "if you love" connection is never proven or supported by rational argument. You're just supposed to accept the speakers' naked assertions as if they were facts.

    Manipulation 101

  • Let's not forget the Rev. Parsley & McCain

Parsley is the one who thinks it is part of the destiny of the US to engage in holy war with all Muslims:

Mr Parsley speaks of Allah as a “demon spirit” and urges "war between Islam and Christian civilisation". There is no difference between violent Islamist extremists and moderate Muslims, he argues. [...] The fact is that America was founded, in part, with the intention of seeing this false religion destroyed, and I believe September 11, 2001, was a generational call to arms that we can no longer ignore.”

So go ahead with McCain and the party with the Armageddon platform. Just get ready to buy McCrusade tee-shirts for the kids and grandkids. It's one thing to see the hand of god in natural disasters punishing your enemies. This is a completely different enchilada.

David Brooks has joined the attack machine:

  • syphera, douchebag extraordinaire

You can't even create a coherent insult, dribbling douchebag muff munching sasquatch humping thimblewit. Fecal material, such as your incoherent repetition of god damn america, comes via the sphincter, not the gluteus. Moron. Labia very minora. Here's a show and tell for tomorrow at school: take a copy of the text of Rodham's Bosnia sniper fire lie, fold it origami style into a semblance of a phallus (heaven knows you'll never see a real one) and insert it into the orifice of your choice. Being a Klinton Klingon, I'm guessing mouth. They're very oral, the Klintons, when they're not being anal. love heywood.
