How's this for "sitcom" journalism?
"The governor of New Mexico -- toting his awesome beard -- was being interviewed on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" Monday morning..." wrote Koppelman.
What is this obsession with Gov. Richardson's beard? This is third or fourth reference to his facial hair I've read online on in print. The man went away, decompressed, and came back waering a beard. Milions of American men wear one.
This is just like people constantly mentioning Javier Bardem's character's hair cut in "No Country for Old Men." And that story took place in the 1970s when a significant segment of the American male population wore long hair.
What is "awesome" about his beard? This is just another example of how everything is reduced to superficial analyses or commentary. So, what if he's sporting a beard. Why state the obvious? People can see it!
