  • @lolcait Roadblocks

How about naming a few roadblocks to another vote in FL & MI.

    Here's some on my list:

Illegal to mail vote in FL

FL doesn't want to pay for another vote

Illegal to share voter list in FL

In MI, votes have to be kept in the machines for 30 days. There's a bunch of other elections planned already.

County clerk says primary do-over likely`impossible'

They don't seem to have much to do with Obama.

Here's a site containg the memo the Obama campaign sent regarding questions about the MI vote. What do you disagree with?

  • Substantiate, lolcait

What in particular were the roadblocks that the Obama campaign set up that prevented revotes from going forward? Do you have a source for this allegation?

  • NPR was saying this morning...

That Obama's lawyers put the kibosh on FL/MI. I don't know if it's true.

Incidentally at this point I prefer Obama, though if he's intentionally trying to block a revote in FL/MI I'm not much for it.

  • We misunderstood George Orwell

When he used the word "newspeak" in his novel 1984, people thought it meant "a new way of speaking". Perhaps it was just a contraction of "news speak".

  • In the UInited States of Denial

Hillary is infinitely qualified to be president.

  • Misstatements, damn misstatements, and videotapes

The mainstream political pundits will bizarrely continue to pump up Sen. Clinton's faltering campaign (as will her most forlorn supporters) by ignoring this sort of blatant "misspeaking." This is a case of the despicable bound by lies to the desperate.

Were Sen. Obama to have committed such a bald-faced "misspeak," he would have been roasted by the hyperbolic right-wing media masters for weeks on end. Similarly, if Obama had idiotically (or purposefully) confused Shiite Iran with Sunni al-Qaeda as McCain did, Obama would have been eviscerated by the press.

Clinton and McCain are getting free rides from political reporters who are interested in prolonging this dreary horse race by any means necessary. Ferraro was right: if Obama were white he wouldn't be in this position; he would have become the presumptive Democratic nominee several weeks ago.

  • MI re-vote "roadblock"

From my reading of Obama's objection to the plan that had been floated by the legislature, the one intractable issue was the fact that people who had voted in the GOP primary would not be able to vote in the re-vote. Thousands of people cast votes in the GOP primary because they knew the Democratic primary wouldn't count for anything.

So by saying that Obama put up roadblocks, you really mean that it was Clinton who put up roadblocks because she wanted no part of a fair election.

In fact, I'd argue she wanted no part of a re-vote in either state. She'd prefer to preposterously have the original election stand (obviously), or to be able to whine about the issue and how unfair it was.

You watch. In the coming weeks, we'll find out that there was a deal on a re-vote that she killed because it wasn't as advantageous to her as it is to be able to cry foul.

  • Donut Dollies

were in combat zones. That didn't make them qualified to sit behind a desk in the oval office.

All the to-do about Hillary's misspeaking is about nothing. Which makes it all the more amazing that she chooses nothing about which to make major misspoken missteps.

It challenges not only credibility, but more importantly, judgement. If you're going to lie or exaggerate, at least make it about something that matters.

  • Doing the same thing . . . expecting different results

Gore was raked over the coals for tiny exaggerations. Kerry was accused of puffing up his military career and was ridiculed for voting for Iraq War funding before he voted against it. Hillary voted for the Iraq War before she voted against it; she exaggerated about bringing peace to N. Ireland; she lied about dodging sniper fire and now we have video of her not dodging sniper fire. And she is supposed the be the electable Democrat?

  • Funny How Hillary Didn't care about FL or MI

    until she started losing.

  • Admit it, Obama supporters

Just like your candidate, you hoped/are hoping there will be no primary in Michigan and Florida that would enable the voters to have their votes counted.

You hope those two states are not counted representatively because you believe your affirmative action candidate is entitled to win the Democratic nomination without voters in Michigan and Florida.

You are no different than the supporters of the Supreme Court decision to hand the presidency to Bush.

Admit it because everyone already knows it's true.

  • Isn't it funny

how lolcait got us talking about Obama's stance on the revotes (totally off topic) instead of Hillary's bizarre Jessica-Lynch-style accounts of her courage under fire in Bosnia?

  • One of Hillary's wiseguy advisors

needs to inform her that this is what they call "sowing the wind, reaping the whirlwind." Her campaign started this BS tit-for-tat game months ago when it became obvious she was going nowhere, trying to damage Obama through the thousand cuts strategy. The biggest problem with that is that the would-be misspeaker-in-chief has too many damn skeletons in the attic to play that game.

  • wow

"You hope those two states are not counted representatively because you believe your affirmative action candidate is entitled to win the Democratic nomination without voters in Michigan and Florida."

and with this little gem we are now free to ignore whatever else spews forth from this cretinous little mind.

    (phew!)

  • Keep speaking up for Hillary, lolcait!

You're GOPish blather will surely drive voters to Obama. And don't forget to point out he's black. And liberal. And scary to wetnap whitys such as yourself. This stuff is gold, lolcait, gold!

Anyway, I think we can all agree that HRC's experience takes her across the commander-in-chief threshhold. Along with Chelsea. And Sinbad. And Sheryl Crowe. Mighty, mighty impressive stuff.

  • Admit it, lolcait

    Your candidate is a fantasist.

You clearly want to change the subject into an argument about Michigan and Florida because the subject at hand is not a comfortable one for you.

As for the issue of Michigan and Florida, I, as an Obama supporter, DO want there to be fair re-votes in Michigan and Florida. However, I don't imagine that the results would be as lop-sidedly pro-Clinton as you think. As someone has already suggested below, Clinton herself may have an advantage in there not being re-votes, because it may be better for her to use the lack of revotes as a way to cast suspicion on the legitimacy of Obama's victory.

Personally, I'm all for letting the dice fall as they may.

By the way, you really do tip your hand when you repeatedly refer to Obama as "an affirmative action" candidate.
