    Excuse me, no one is COMPLAINING about the electoral college. Just EXPLAINING.

    What evidence could one possibly have that Hillary Clinton would do better with the electoral college? It has NOTHING to do with the primaries because the party will unite, AFTER the primaries, and vote for its nominee.

    Then, the Democratic candidate is likely to do better than the Republican candidate, this year, with the electoral college.

  • For the record

    I think Obama and Clinton need to do the same thing McCain did...ask his supporters to stop with the crap.

    The truth is that much of what is 'going around', much of what Mark Penn claims comes from the Obama campaign is NOT coming from the Obama campaign. It comes from REALLY ARDENT supporters. It's Obama's supporters who got that picture of Clinton with Wright and circulated it. Can't control that.

    Similarly, Clinton's supporters are equally ardent and will circulate things that make Obama look bad. I'm not sure it comes directly from the Clinton campaign.

    BUT THEN, we see this memo. And it IS from the Clinton campaign. Scary.

  • This is getting old <sigh>

    Every day we have to see garbage like this? After she wins PA it'll be even more of this? Come on.

    The accusation that he's actually responsible for "disenfranchising" voters is just over the top. Or under the bottom depending how you want to look at it.

    It is called Clinton fatigue. They wear you out with their shifting positions on everything. Is it any wonder why she is still in the race after losing so many states in a row? I know more people who have moved over to Obama from being Clinton supporters, than the other way around. People are not voting for her, not because she is a woman but because she is Hillary. She has lied, cheated and scratched her way to the top. She should now retire and start collecting her social security from pharmaceutical, Israeli and health insurance lobbyists

  • @ sonofcloud

    Newsflash for you:

    Hillary has never participated in an election where she was subject to Electoral College votes.

    Neither has Obama or McCain for that matter.

    That would be a run for the Presidency.

    If you are arguing her electability (her POTENTIAL to receive more electoral votes in the general election than McCain, thereby securing the presidency), that's a different discussion.

  • FL and MI

    Can't help but put my two cents in on this one, too.

    The Florida Democrats should have complained bitterly when their Republican legislature and Republican governor pushed through a bill that FORCED the primary issue and clearly would mean that Democratic votes would not count because of the rules already clearly set forth by the party. THE VOTERS DISENFRANCHISED THEMSELVES. The time to complain about rules and laws is WHILE THEY ARE BEING MADE. If you sit around and allow something to happen, then whine about it, you have only yourself to blame.

    The Michigan voters knew that votes for the Democrat would not count. Thus, Republicans and Independents, who might have voted for a Democrat, didn't do that because it would be pointless.

    What's wrong with do-overs for Democrats ONLY is that they disenfranchise non-Democrats who might have voted for a Democrat if they thought there was any point to it in Michigan. And they disenfranchise people in both states who might have registered and voted Democrat if they thought those votes would count.

    Now now...come on.

    I know its hard. I'm not crazy about Clinton either. And the further along this goes, the worse she looks.

    BUT consider the alternative...McCain.

    Or rather consider his policies. He, himself is probably a decent guy.

    Vote DEM in November. We REALLY need a fresh start in USA. Obama IMO is the best option for that but McCain is the worst option for that.

  • hey jude

    amen.

    I'm one of those INDIE in Florida who would have switched to vote democratic.

    BUT please don;t delude yourself. We DID BITCH about the primary date change. We DID raise hell. It was a dog fight. But what happens when the legislature AND the governor are republican?

    Please tell me how we could have overcome that with any measure of bitching?

    The DNC tried to use a trump card of not counting the votes to try to force the hands of the legislature but it backfired.

    Honestly I'm not sure what we could have done with the structure the way it is here.

    AND when you take into account that our GOVERNOR Charlie Crist's name has been batted around as a GOP VP since he was elected governor...that pretty much explains it.

  • weird posting

    This is the only place I've seen this posted. I guess no one else thought it was worth bothering.

  • He didn't change the subject, he bravely walked right into it

    And gave a speech on race for the history books.

    I know the subject, I hear you changing it, Penn.

    Oh, and you left out the best quote, this is from your 5 Things piece on this, quote from Mark Penn:

    Citing Clinton's victory in New Mexico in February, senior strategist Mark Penn told reporters Friday in a conference call, "Perhaps the time when he could have been most effective has long since past." Penn added that he didn't think it was a "significant endorsement."

    OK, got that?

    Richardson = his time is past.

    Richardson = insignificant

    Richardson = Latino

    Penn = tone-deaf idiot

  • That's funny...

    "Perhaps the time when he could have been most effective has long since past."

    Those are the EXACT same words that go through my mind every time Mark Penn opens his mouth.

  • Hillary as chief executive and commander-in-chief from day one?

    Hell, she could not even manage her own campaign and she is going to manage the US. People got so tired of commander-in-chief from day one after every sentence that they left her campaign in droves. Her experience is vetted alright. She slept her way to the top.

  • People are Getting Wise.

    This is Hillary's answer to Obama's silly race speech. good for her the empty suit has had enough free rides,time to show him for what he is and it isn't much.Hillary is leading in the latest poll,that's a good sign that some people are getting wise to the fact that Obama is all talk and no substance.If you want to see the democratic party destroyed nominate Obama there are million's who will register as independent and I'm one of them.The Hillary basher's would be enough to turn me off Obama if I didn't already have many more reasons. who would want to vote with a bunch of people whose every word about Hillary is sleaze and name calling. Not me I respect women too much for such nonsense
