Letters to the Editor

Letters posted here are associated with the following article:
In a memo, the Clinton campaign says Obama practices "lowdown politics."
The letters thread is now closed.
  • If Obama Gets The Nomination

The theme song in Denver should be that song from the movie TITANIC.......He can name Dicaprio as his VP.

  • Ay, ay, ay!

Okay, now Hillary has completely lost me. Obama disenfranchising millions? Who agreed, before the renegade primaries, that they would not count? This is crapola worthy of the Repugnican Attack Machine.

  • "practicing lowdown politics"

Am I reaching, or soes that sound like some sort of inference to black voters that Barack Obama is gay? There's just something about that word "lowdown" in this context. Sort of like when Newt Gingrich and his cohorts accused a Democratic Speaker of the House of "being out of the closet" because of some poicy decision of his they didn't like.

  • Blocking?

    Hi, Joan --

How soon are we going to be able block individual posters? I'd really like to be able to filter out the partisan cheerleaders who keep using the Letters area as a forum to snipe at each other.

  • He SHOULD be desperate to change the subject.

Considering the amount of negative press Obama is getting for his minister saying crap that isn't nearly as offensive as white conservative ministers, I'd say a change of subject is in order.

Do you realize the hateful, evil things white conservative pastors say? And John McCain SOUGHT their support. AND Obama already strongly repudiated his pastor's remarks. Its sickening to see the MSM wallow in the kiddie pool of racist fears. "Ooh, Obama is the scary type black man! Will white voters hate him now?"

  • Hypocrisy from Mark Penn?

So I'm sure Mark Penn, principled guy that he is, will be putting out a press release shortly, clarifying that Obama actually won Texas, since his position has consistently been that the rules are what count, not the popular vote.

  • Disenfranchised?

The debate over MI and FL is just such horse****. As far as I'm concerned, voters in MI and FL disenfranchised themselves. If Dem voters in those states were really concerned about their primary votes counting, why did they not put up any kind of fight against their state party officials who were openly breaking party rules about this time a year ago. It's not as if this all happened in secret; it was in the national news for chrissakes! People need to grow up and learn that being a citizen in a democratic nation requires more than just getting up off your ass and voting once every couple of years or so.

  • Fat Lady

Hark, what's that sound I heard, It's the fat kankle lady singing.

    Sing Kankles sing.

  • Sour, Bitter

    A Clinton no hitter.

  • Only words?

Of course the Clinton camp would love to write off mere words considering her own words on NAFTA have been exposed as the type of words one usually calls LIES.

Hopefully Richardson's endorsement will signal many of the other other superdelegates to follow his league (and maybe spur on leaders such as Pelosi, Dean and Gore). This circus needs to end before John McCain wins by default.

  • Oh boy

Its pretty obvious that this a pretty much nothing-to-lose attempt now to throw enough mud and hope that it sticks. I am not comfortable with either candidate proclaiming that the other is a non-viable general election candidate but it seems that this is the argument that they think will resonate with the supers.

This type of nasty back and forth doesn't help anyone but John McCain.

  • trust

    ask Tony Rezko about trust.

  • from this very site

Mar 21st, 2008 | WASHINGTON -- Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has told Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton that her passport file was breached in 2007.

  • My 53% Negatives Threshold.

The Obama camp suggests that it would be hard for anyone to win in November with a 53% negative approval rating.

Is this debatable? Could McCain or Obama with with negatives that high?

But some wish to conflate that state with Penn's bold assertion that Obama can't win the general in November.

    Ridiculous.

But perhaps we should be charitable, and point out it's still March. Just as the Clinton campaign believes that Obama might pass the Commander-in-Chief threshold by August, I can believe that Sen. Clinton might get her unfavorables under 50% by November.

Of course, she'd have to stop throwing the kitchen sink and start taking the high road to do so, but it is theoretically possible.

  • President Hillary Clinton

I'll take, what are three words you aren't going to see...

it's over. Any other candidate would have been put out to pasture by the press by now.

She can't win the popular vote.

She can't catch him on delegates.

    She can't make him unelectable.

    It's over.

  • enought of her

i've just had enough of her(i am starting to really hate her)and her "helpers".her whole problem is that she thought she had a free pass on the dem side, and it didn't work out that way,so she will burn everything down to get what she wants.if it is her or Mclame, then i will, for the first time in my life, not vote.end of story.....

  • In the Penn mode...

I note this from the Penn memo:

"He calls for high minded debates while practicing lowdown politics. "

Yet, that has always been one of the Clinton's key rationales for why she'd be the better candidate. She's been there, been attacked, knows how to fight back.." In short, a fearless practitioner of what can only be described as "low-down" politics.

Clearly, it is more of the Penn/Clinton positively Rovian double standard...we do it well, they do it, it is wrong but we will do it better.

    Strange times.

  • "lowdown"? hmmm......

MAV in Florida , that was the very first association that leapt to mind when I saw that word.

I do not think it is an unintentional word choice at all, although if someone called them on it, they'd laugh and point at our playing of another "card".

I hate these people. They cannot win, and so they are going to drag the winner down on their way out. Despicable.

  • THe Rest of The Story?

OK, you posted the Clinton points, now examine the truthiness of them, please!

  • Hillary Clinton leads

Hillary Clinton leads in the Electoral College vote and the popular vote.

Obama leads in the baffling caucus vote. Who came up with the rules for caucus voting in the first place?

  • "It's no wonder that top journalists are calling the Obama campaign desperate, saying that it's amateur hour in Chicago."

And which top journalists would those be? Do tell. Folks from Newsmax? Fox? Talon news? Sean Hannity? Assistant editor of the Little Rock gazette? (no offense meant to anyone working at the Little Rock gazette)
